It was said that when the last of the Old Ones left Earth, Maloker, he mixed his blood with humans, creating the first vampires. We can assume these are Turok-Hans? But Illyria said that during her time, she already knew about vampires, by which she calls half-breeds. But if this is the case, the how could Illyria know of vampires if Maloker was the last old one to leave Earth?

Maloker left, being the last one, and left vampires in his wake. How could Illyria say that there were vampires back then as well? A different species of vampires, the regular vampire, not Turok-Hans?

Well, we know from the comics that Malakor was actually buried in the deeper well, along with a lot of the remains of other old ones. He never left earth.

Clearly the 'prescribed wisdom' of Season 1 Giles was wrong, since it came from sources handed down from generation to generation in the Watcher's Council, it may have become fragmented or distorted over time.

I guess the Watcher's Council didn't have access to first-hand sources such as Illyria to correct them on their mistakes. 🙂

Maloker created the first human vampires, but there could have been other species infected with vampirism before the human era.

A vampire is created when a demon spirit enters the body of a human killed by a vampire. So those demon spirits must exist somewhere, independently of humans.

It could be that Maloker created vampires while he was around as a real demon, and then just left them behind when he went for a nap in the deeper well, which would explain Illyria's knowledge of them
