How did you feel when Spike teamed up with Buffy?

As we all know, Spike sought Buffy's help in Becoming Part II to get rid of Angelus and save the world for puppies and sunshine (okay, not the puppies and sunshine bit, but that's still pretty close to Happy Meals on legs). I hadn't been spoiled for that turn of events, so it was a pleasant surprise for me, since to me, at the time, it meant that Spike got temporary good-guy immunity (now I know such a phenomenon is non-existent in everything Whedon). Plus, eye candy. And snarky fun. I love S2 Spike, so I loved that he got more screen time and saved the world. How did you feel when he teamed up with Buffy?
 
Well I didn't know that Spike would be brought back past season 2 so it was just surprise that I felt and that's it. I did raise an eyebrow at the whole "Hello cutie" bit.
 
Well, it was before I became a major Spike fan. I just liked him and his scenes. And I thought it was kick ass! It was very interesting and even fun to watch. Buffy and Spike have such an amazing chemistry so it worked really well. I think that's what did it for me, before being a big Spike fan.

Oh I loved it. I didn't expect it, when it happened and I usually enjoy things like that.

And I love the awkward moments with Spike and Joyce. Totally made of win.
 
Ahhh the days before internet spoilers...
It was a huge surprise. I was NOT expecting that turn of events at all but it remains to this day one of my favourite plot twists of all time. Very clever indeed.
 
I remember watching "Becoming" and being shocked as Hell that Spike wanted to form an alliance with Buffy, but I loved it. However, I loved it even more when he left her to save his and Dru's asses in "Becoming part II" 'cause I felt it was true to the character. 🙂

I didn't see it coming but I didn't find it very shocking either. It was pretty clear that Spike would do anything for Dru and when he felt like she was slipping away, to Angelus of all people; I wasn't shocked to see him go to extreme measures to get her back.
 
To be honest, i thought that as soon as Spike got Dru back, he was going to back-stab Buffy. And then my brain anaylzed the situation, and that thought disappeared
 
I think that it perfectly illustrates the old adage, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." Both Buffy and Spike, for totally different reasons, wanted Angelus stopped. A temporary alliance made perfect sense. I do think, however, that it should have been done, or at least tentatively suggested, a few episodes earlier instead of at the last minute.

I wasn't surprised when he teamed up with Buffy, it was obvious he was liking Angelus less and less and the series progressed. I was quite happy when he teamed up with Buffy.
 
I thought it was great they teamed up. And given both their the situation it wasn't all that hard to believe, even if it was still shocking.

The little conversation between Joyce and Spike was funny too:

Joyce: "Have me met before?""
Spike: "Yeach, you hit me with an axe once" LoL
 
It was definitely a turn of events, though it wasn't too shocking. It was kind of obvious that they didn't get a lot and the more it went through the season, Spike began hating Angelus more and more. He was jealous of how Angelus acted with Dru, so anything to hurt Angelus kind of made sense for Spike.

It was still pretty kick ass though!
 
I thought it was a big surprise, and a great way to wrap up Season 2. Spike was basically the Big Bad, out to bag a Slayer and cause trouble, for the first half of the season. Then Angel lost his soul and took over the villain role. He gradually wore out his welcome with Spike more and more as the season went on. That scene where he trashed his wheelchair after seemingly taking the brunt of Angelus' crap was a major "Oh, SNAP!" moment. Then came the deal-breaker: Dru moving toward Angelus...and Angelus figuring out a way to (actually!) destroy the world. So Spike was forced to ally with the person he'd been trying to kill the whole season. Very nice.

Every moment of his alliance with Buffy was executed very well. Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I always liked the "Hello, cutie" line. It sweetens up the surprise reveal as well as the idea that he's the least likely person to show up and help Buffy out. The awkwardness with Joyce was funny. The moment where Buffy and Spike put their plan into action was great, where Angelus says "You think you can stop me by yourself?" and Buffy says "No... I don't," while Spike's slowly rising out of his wheelchair. Of course the alliance was over once he got away with Dru ("My God, he's going to kill her... *shrug*")

It was good stuff. It closed out the season well.
 
I loved it. Spike is so funny in that episode. I loved when he wants to go back and eat the police officer and Buffy just gives him this look. And the scene with him and Buffy's mom...haha they always had such great moments together.
