How Did You Get Into Buffy?

I hated the the first few episodes I saw. My then-boyfriend (now-husband) loved the show and kept trying to push me to watch it. He got my mom into it, but was unsuccessful with me. Then, the Wb had a Buffy 2-night event. the show was moving from Monday at 9 to Tuesday at 8. The eps they were using for this was Surprise, and Innocence. My mom (who has made it a habit of forcing me to watch TV with her) forced me to sit down and watch the show with her. She had taped it and had already watched it and said that she knew I would love it. I admit, I came with a book in my hand, ready to sneek a read through it, but when Angel went evil, I couldn't believe what I was seeing. The show had taken such a daring risk, and from that point on, I have gotten my hands on all the eppies I had missed, and I haven't missed an episode since! Haven't missed an episode of Angel at all, and i do believe I may be one of the most rabid fans ever, though i'm sure I can be debated with on that. Needless to say, i have since thanked my Mom for forcing me to watch it as well as having to constantly tell my husband that he was right 😉
 
I watched the pilot in a hotel room in Las Vegas whilst on holiday in 1997. At extra low volume because my wife was asleep - jet lag taking its toll I think.
I wasn't expecting much as the wife had seen the movie and pronounced it rubbish. However, I was soon drawn in and decided to look out for the show at home when we returned.

The wife finally got into the show when BBC2 started its first repeat of Season 1 a year or so later (lusting after Angel) and soon became as hooked as I was. We've never missed an episode since and are really looking forward to the finale tomorrow after successfully avoiding it whilst in the US a few weeks ago - no spoilers for us!

It's a shame it has to end but I do hope it's on a high note. Anyway Angel is still gonna be around for at least another year...
 
Well my stroy was my sister was told it was great but we missed it first time on sky so when it came on BBC2 me her and my sister watched it but I didn't really get into it then because my mom kept asking stupid questions and not letting me follow it really. After Season 1 had shown on BBC2 I found a tape of Witch to the end of the season and decided to give it another try and I really liked it. Watched season 2 onwards on sky after that. My sister got bored of it and now mocks me for being obessed and getting angry if it doesn't get taped on a Thursday night but I don't care, I'm a Buffy geek and proud.

I watched the first season of Angel and liked it, not as much as Buffy then and I thought season 2 was just really boring so I stopped watching it unless I knew there was crossovers but now Season 3 has started on Channel 5 I'm going to start waching it everyweek again
 
To tell you the truth, I was always interested in vampire flicks/tv shows, but I was very hesitant to start watching "Buffy" because the movie was just awful. I thought, good effort, bad execution. Then, when I heard that there they made a tv show based on it, I asked myself "why?" I guessed that I figured that if it is anything like the movie, why waste the time?

But, I caught an episode(I think it was "Never Kill a Boy on a First Date,") and I thought this is pretty good. I mean at least it wasn't like the movie. Then, I got hooked. Of course, I worked late, so I missed pretty much of it, but I started to record it. When FX started to re-run it, I got really hooked. Then, the rest is history.

Of course, I wasn't a great "Angel" fan when it started either(even though Cordy was in it), but the last two seasons have been really good, and since I have a DVD player, I picked up the boxed set, and am I eagerly awaiting for it to continue.

What I really like is the story-telling. I mean I am really not crazy for any of the actors, but the stories for Buffy and Angel are really, really good. Joss and Co are great writers, and the drama and comedy really hits the nail. I am upset that stories like "The Body" and "Hush" didn't win anything, because they should've.

But, we are not talking network TV, so the Emmys won't touch them.
 
well it wasen't til i went to my mates house for a sleepover and she watched it so i watched it with her and got hooked (it was season two, can't remember which ep) so the next week i found out when it was on and have watch every ep on bbc2 and sky one ever since

when angel started on sky i didn't watch it but when it was on channel four i was flicking through the channels there was nothing on so i watched it season one ep 1 and i got hooked and watched every ep since

My middle son was the one that got me hooked on Buffy. I was flipping thru the channels one night and he asked me if he could watch it. I watched it with him, and became hooked from that day on. Really sad now that the show is over , but at least we now own seasons 1-4, and occasionally we all just have a Buffy fest and everyone picks out 2 of their favorite episodes, and we have some family "slayer" time.
 
I started watching in season 1, but I thought it was kind of boring, it seemed like they were always talking in the library (hey I was really young, now I look back and love those eps lol), so it wasn't until season 2 that I got hooked. In fact even during season 2 I only watched on and off, then I was bored during the summer so I watched eps I had missed, after seeing Whats my Line 1 and 2, School Hard and then Becoming 1 and 2 in a row I was just hooked, best show ever.
 
Just prior to season one, a local TV writer wrote something to the effect of "there is nothing quite like this on TV--forget the movie, you MUST see this, although most of you probably won't." I took a chance on the new show (like it was costing me something) and got hooked immediately. Even began taping with the premiere--and BTW despite the DVDs it's still fun to keep a few of these tapes just to see the old promos.

Anyway, what I really liked was the way everything played out so quick and sharp, where the movie was played very broadly. Not that I didn't get a laugh out of Paul Reubens and Rutger Hauer, but the TV show proved to be funnier, sadder and more dramatic. At least to me.
 
lol....it was weird, (long ago) I was sick and out of school..I fliped trough the chanals and came to Buffy, it was like the middle of season 1 (I think) and Buffy was in the Bronze and than the scene swiched to the Master.....and the Anointed one. I thought it was sooooo stupid .... but then Angel came in to the picture and Boom (the 11 year old me) fell for the show..( I tried to watch it but I missed a couple of epis)...but when season 2 came out and I saw Spike, and said' That was it......I am sooooo LOVIN this show' lol

sawn the promo for the first ever buffy and watched since than. i prefered when it was on sky one on friday nights cause i could watch that than my 2 other shows which i am not sating cause therw embarrasing. but i really got into it in season 1 and even more so in season 2 and it just grew from there.
 
I started watching Buffy when Season 1 was showing on BBC2. I watched because I was just sorta flicking through the channels, and Buffy was on, and so I watched it. The same happened the next week, I was bored, flicked through the channels, and Buffy was on, so I watched it again, and again the next week, and then made a point to watch it. And the obsession grew from there. 😀
 
i started seeing buffy when i was doing zapping and i stopped in that channel i dont know why but it took my atencion
 
I was flicking through the channels when I stopped on Sky 1. It was season two of Buffy and it was the episode Surprise and I remember thinking how sweet Buffy and Angel were together so I started watching it but they only showed about another three episodes and then Sky 1 stopped showing it for about three months. Luckily when Sky 1 started showing it again it was from season one so I got to watch it from the start.
 
The first episode I ever saw was "Teacher's Pet". It was on and I was bored, so found myself going back to it.

I watched around 25 mins of it or so, and then told myself that I had no business watching something called Buffy the Vampire Slayer (especially as I was only watching cos I fancied a few of the cast!), so changed the channel.

A minute or two later, I realised that the plot had aroused my interest, so I watched the rest of the episode.

After that, I watched it whenever it was on and I was in, which soon changed to me being in whnever I knew it was on. Now, I'm obsessed with it.
 
I've been watching Buffy since the beginning. 7 years ago. I remember it exactly. I was at my grandma's house. A day off school because I was sick and she was watching me. So my mom was flipping through the tv guide when she saw an ad for buffy. she knew i was into vampires and things like that so she told me when i came on, and i watched it and from the very first eppy, i was hooked. Although I must confess to my undying sins. (lol) I dont like the buffy seasons as well as the first two. Not as good I think. Although everyone thinks seasons 4-7 were the best. I prefer season 1-3 the best.
