How do I use gifs, please? ๐
Giphy claims to be an approved media forum.
Here has been my troubleshooting steps thus far:
Step 1: I go to the "giphy." (in a new tab)
Step 2: I search for the gif I want ("Another glorious morning").
Step 3: I click some random gif in the results.
Step 4: I click the "share" paper airplane icon on giphy.
Step 5: I click "copy gif link"
Step 6: I come back to my comment at BB, and click on the dual landscape photos between the smiley face emoji and the quotation marks icon.
Step 7: I paste in the URL I copied from step 5 (https://i.giphy.com/media/v1.Y2lkPT...9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/122JKAK2BrDx8Q/giphy.gif)
Step 8: BB says "The specified URL cannot be embedded as media."
Attempt #2:
Step 9: I learn how to do media via BB codes ([*media=giphy]/media/v1.Y2lkPTc5MGI3NjExd2U4YW1vMjd1b3NnbG04ZzNydHFoNXNya2V0NWxuMmo5ZDFscGJ2MCZlcD12MV9pbnRlcm5hbF9naWZfYnlfaWQmY3Q9Zw/122JKAK2BrDx8Q/giphy.gif[*/media])
Step 10: I click 'preview' - GIF does not show ๐
Attempt #3:
Step 11: I go back to Step 3, this time I choose "embed." I assume message boards still dislike HTML. I pull out just the URL from the HTML code I am given from the HTML in the "embed": Hocus Pocus Magic GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY
Step 12: I click on the dual landscape photos between the smiley face emoji and the quotation marks icon.
Step 13: I paste Hocus Pocus Magic GIF - Find & Share on GIPHY into the "enter media URL" box.
Step 14: BB says "The specified URL cannot be embedded as media." ๐
Attempt #4 (I am obviously tenacious AF ๐):
Step 15: "But what if I try this as a media BB code?" [*media=giphy]/embed/122JKAK2BrDx8Q[/media]
Step 16: I click 'preview' - GIF does not show ๐
Oh great gurus of message boards: What am I doing to displease the BBCode Gods? Whyfor will they not accept my humble offering of a gif? ๐ Should I be right clicking "copy image location" instead? Should I be copying the URL directly from my address bar? Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated <3
