How do we pronounce our ship name?

In my head I've always said "Bangel" with a hard /g/, so like in "gun" "gate" etc, so it sounds like "bang" and then "el". But I'm realizing that might be wrong, because that's obviously not how we pronounce Angel's name lol. So, do you say it with a hard /g/, or with a "J" sound? And how do you pronounce the "a"?

So you're talking about a "J" sound, right?

I've never said it outloud to my knowledge, but I have always said it with a hard G in my head...like the braclets, bangles. It probably should be pronounced with a "j" sound like Angel is pronounced.

Well I try not to say Bangel if I can help it. 😛 But seriously, I would say it with a soft G, so just Angel with a B in front of it.

I don't think there's any other way of saying Spuffy other than Spuffy...

I love how all us Spuffies are commenting in this thread teaching you guys how to pronounce your ship name. It's Angel with a B. Otherwise, how would that make any sense? It's a ship name, the new names mixed togther. Angel's name isn't Angle. And that doesn't make any sense anyway because of the spelling of Bangel. It wasn't until recently that I found out some of you pronounce it the other way. 🙂

Personally, regardless of the spelling, I have always pronounced it as Bangel with the hard "g". Like the bracelet or the band. Saying it any other way sounds wrong to me. 🙂

I've always pronounced it as Angel with a B in front of it, cause isn't that technically what it stands for? A mash up of Buffy and Angel.

I've always thought it was simply a combination of the letter 'B' and 'Angel', so it makes sense that the 'G' would be soft.

Saying it your way, even though it is phonetically correct, sounds plain wrong to me. Not to mention icky. 😛

You should always bring cookies when entering hostile territory...and it could be pronounced with a spanish style "u" as Spoofy...which makes me laugh.

I'm glad I'm not the only one pronouncing it with a hard "g". 🙂 I know it probably should be with a soft "g" but I find it easier to pronounce it like bangles....just rolls off the tongue easier.

I always said it with a J sound for the G... I thought that was how everyone would say it, 'cause I mean... You don't pronounce Angel's name with a 'G' sound, like the word 'angle'.
