How do you 'celebrate' Halloween?

We don't go too overboard for Halloween, we get the trick or treaters round so we get in sweets and stuff, but we don't have parties or anything.

One thing we do do, is I buy a couple of pumpkins and we compete with each other who can do the best carving. We then stick them on the garage roof on Halloween with tea lights in. They get some good comments from the kids who come round (because having an 11 year old say you're awesome is probably the highlight of your existence when you're mid-30s!)😛

What are your plans for Halloween?

In your mid thirties, I guess that mean my sins will never be forgotten, like saying this is a land of witches. And that the ghosts walk here for 90 days and should anyone ask for candy another ghost will become.
So I get to eat my own choccy.

We decorate for the kids, and do trick or treating and dish out sweets to the trick or treaters. this year I think there maybe a party, dunno yet. Here is last years attempt at decoration lol.

Personally I don't but we might do something at work. Younger ones and families will probably do something but it'll vary a lot how much. Even if Halloween gets bigger here it's not like it's taking the country by storm.

I don't do anything, but am so impressed by the work some people put in. My excuse is that I live in a village and there are, at most, three children young enough to go trick or treating.

I'll be hosting a party since we never got around to a house warming. I've set up a new speaker system so that I can have the same music playing in the living room and kitchen. Fingers crossed it works. Had to order a new sub as it seems to have been broken in the move.

We'll be decorating the house and wearing fancy dress. Likely some pumpkin carving and we'll have sweets for Trick or Treaters. Not that I really want to encourage kids to make more noise outside my house.

Its getting bigger in australia for those with disposable income.

When I was growing up, I lived with a man from the US, and we participated in thanksgiving and halloween and even 4th of July. We went trick or treating most years - but with very little luck, and quite a few people got angry. We never tricked anyone, we were always supervised and were never out after dark. People were quite hostile to us.

We always did pumpkins, it was so much fun! We roasted the seeds after for eating, another favourite I still enjoy. Our pumpkins are tiny compared with the US and many times we had to go for butternut as nothing else was available so ours were never like the ones on Buffy. It was still great, and a good way to learn to use a knife haha.

There is still an attitude of "Its an american thing" (even though the celebrations predate america 🙄) but those with more money than they know what to do with, obviously buy the stuff in the stores as the halloween section is almost as big as christmas now days. I got the crap scared out of me at Target by a skeleton hand that grabbed at me from a bowl.

Every few years a bunch of people use halloween as an excuse to egg cars, or make mischief, there is always some story in the media about someone trashing something and saying halloween made them do it.

Did you know, it is an offence to carry a disguise in my state? Police have warned they will arrest clowns.

We're going to an event at the children's wood and meadow this year (didn't do anything last year, Winter was too young). I don't really know what it is, just wandering about with other kids, dressed up with torches and lanterns. I don't know what I'll dress W up as. I was thinking a mini version of Dustin from Stranger Things because they have the same hair.

Of course if it's pelting with rain we probably won't go.

Normally I just watch Horror films or something horror related. One year I went to a Halloween party in Brighton and dressed as BeetleJuice😛 Think a few of us on here are planning a horror film manthan this year🙂

From what I have seen - carrying a disguise is enough for an arrest! The laws are nutty, but the nutties are the only one who see it lol.

I am wondering if I cosplay as a thunderstorm and do a rain dance again.. or if that is "asking for a bashing" in this place.

Halloween is my big holiday. I have more decorations for Halloween than all my other holiday decor combined. I live in the sticks, so I'm not likely to get trick or treaters, but that doesn't deter me from decorating LOL. I have a Halloween Tree that I put up this year and every horizontal surface (minus the desk and dinner table) have Halloween decor on them. As for celebration, I usually go to a friend's party or to a friend's house to hand out candy. I'm kinda kicking around the idea of hosting a Buffy themed Halloween party next year.

Oh what a laugh, it looks like some idiot yank with loads and loads of money and not two grey brain cell to rub together has gone there from Texas (sorry for the sweeping generalization there) and spent a million dollars on the place.
Ten years ago that castle was a bit of a tip and had the aurora of being a scary place. Now, it looks as though some dip- - - - has gone in and made the place to be like a Holiday Inn.

I don't celebrate Halloween, not since I was a kid, and even then it was a hassle to get my parents to understand it. It wasn't a big thing in my country back then.

My partner insists I try carving a pumpkin at least once, so I'll maybe have a go this year. 🙂

Thank god my little brother has gotten over that phase. It was always fun to do but it's a lot of work too, and clean up...


I had a habit before of going to a Halloween party held by an alternative modeling agency, it's great because people put so much effort into their costumes! But for the past two years I haven't gone. Kind of in the mood to go this year though, so maybe I will if I can find a good enough costume.

I go over to my parents' house. They live in a nice safe neighborhood and kids come from miles around to trick-or-treat there. My dad still carves a jack-o-lantern every year. We give out candy until about 8 PM and then watch a Halloween-y movie. Nothing too intense, because my mom can't handle it.

People around here are going crazy with the Halloween decorations this year. I've never seen so many Halloween lights... it's like Orange Christmas. I think this year has just been so depressing that people are desperate to get to the holidays.
