How do you crop people?

I've seen people with banners that have only the person with a completely different background. How do you crop the person so perfectly?

I use Gimp.

I have no tips for GIMP users. I'm a Photoshop user myself and use the magnetic lasso tool. :/ Sorry!

Like HisMrs, I use photoshop. And I prefer using the eraser tool that gives me the most control. I set it to the hardness and size of brush that fits to the moment. And sometimes I use quick selection tool, but it doesn't always work right.

I have this problem myself! Like when you see something like this and it's like..."How did they get the small spaces in between the hairs?"

I would like to know how that's is possible!

You could use your eraser tool or your paths tool. Alternatively you could take advantage of mask layers -- I don't mess around with them much but they've never done me wrong.

Get your Google on and find some tutorials! Best way to learn -- I would know!
