How do you make a Slayer?

Is it written or shown anywhere exactly what went into creating the first Slayer?

I have an idea for an RPG plot for my gaming group and part of it is going to involve re-slayer-ifying Faith after her blood is milked for use as a designer drug. She comes out of the whole process with no Slayer powers remaining and it's going to be up to the players to perform the original Slayer creation ritual to get her mojo back.

Or do I just need to make it up?

The part about Faith's blood being used for a drug is from an old fic called 'Wheat Eye' which I haven't read so I hope the rest of the plot isn't copying anyone else's ideas.

SlayerOfVampyrs Actually no. This will be the first time with the Buffy RPG. In the past we have done D&D 4e, Exalted, Dark Heresy, Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay, BSG, Shadowrun, Pathfinder, Savage Worlds, Call of Cthulhu, Traveller, Feng Shui, Star Wars, Eclipse Phase, RuneQuest, EarthDawn and a few that I know I am forgetting.

But you're more than welcome to come stay 🙂

I would say the biggest indicator is from Get it done when we see the Shadow men try to give Buffy more Slayer Power.

It looks like they've harvested the essence of a demon, which is contained in the box (You could have some fun with picking the demon and a ritual to harvest it's essence).

It looks like the essence tries to enter any human, it looks like it might go for the Shadow men but they are tapping their staffs which seem to ward it off, it then sees Buffy who can't ward her and goes to her.

Yeah, we learn about the origins of the slayer in "Get it Done". It boggles me how we only learned about it in the tail end of the final season of the show! And the reveal is pretty significant, not particularly plot-wise but definitely symbolically. The initial Slayer-making ritual is coded as some kind of sexual violation, which is...creepy, to say the least. Anyway, here's the dialogue, from vyra.net:

BUFFY: (shackled in a cave) What is this?

BROWN HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): We are at the beginning. The source of your strength. The well of the slayer's power.

RED HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): This is why we have brought you here.

BUFFY: I thought I brought me here. Listen, you guys. I'm already the slayer, bursting with power. Really don't need any more.

RED HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): The First Slayer did not talk so much. (re box he's holding) Herein lies your truest strength.

BLACK HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): The energy of the demon. Its spirit.

BROWN HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): Its heart.

BUFFY: This is how you?

RED HAT SHADOW MAN (SUBTITLE): Created the slayer? Yes.

(Black demon energy comes out of the box, whirls around the cave)

For the purposes of your RPG (which sounds really cool, btw), it looks like what's happening would be a consensual thing? Which takes on a much more different tone than the one we see in "Get it Done", and is more along the lines of how Nikki Wood supposedly used the box. I don't remember if we ever see her use the box in a flashback or something.

I would be willing to bet that the Shadow Men set up the spell so that they would be totally safe from any possibility if demon infestation. Now, what, I ask you, would be the simplest, as well as the most certain way for 4 old wizards to assure their own safety in this sort of situation?

Create a spell where the demon essence can inhabit a lowly, otherwise useless and completely expendable ... GIRL.

And to be even safer, to avoid several of these super powered 2nd class citizens from joining together to resist the Shadow Men and their plans ... ONLY ONE GIRL IN THE WORLD CAN BE EMPOWERED AT ANY ONE TIME.

No wonder these guys grew up to be the Watchers.
