because in Buffy it was said that once he felt true love he would lose his soul. And ive seen a couple of episodes and it is his son so he does love the baby. How is that possible ? was it already explaned ? sorry if this has been asked before, im new to the board and the Angel show 🙂

I've been in since the beginning, and I thought the whole parental thing could get dangerously close to "Perfect Happiness", which is the thing everyone bangs on about when it comes to the curse, too. I see the effect babies have on people in the "real world" and I can't help but think that with everything that's happened Angel would be more than slightly overcome to be a father against the highly improbably odds! Then again, the effect a new baby has on a regular person's life means that everything's up in the air so perhaps he hasn't had chance for the perfect happiness to kick in yet... and now it looks unlikely that it will. Or maybe with the whole Darla thing, and the being chased by Holtz and co., he hasn't been able to totally let go. Or maybe it's just the prospect of raising a kid in a demon infested L.A.....

Hmmm......one moment of true happiness??? Well, just being a parent doesn't necessarily mean true happiness - I have 4 kids, and I love them all deeply, but I can't say that having them gave me a moment of true happiness - I felt overwhelmed and in awe, and loved them all before they were even in this world.

I also think the moment of true happiness that would mean Angel losing his soul, would happen when he was intimate with his soul mate so to speak - maybe Buffy was the only person he would ever know true happiness with?? He could sleep with other women, and yes, derive pleasure from it, but he wouldn't necessarily have that *moment* again.

I think the feelings he will experience for his son, are entirely different, you can love someone completely and still not be happy, in my opinion.🙂🙂

Just my feelings on it anyways.😉

i agree with anya. i think his true moment of happiness is with buffy even if he does love the baby.
awwww anya! 4 kids..how cute 🙂

Agree with Anya as well. And can you ever be truly happy with a child? What I mean is, you're always worrying about them, that they'll be okay, that they'll be happy. I would wager that that would keep a parent from perfect happiness.

When I actually saw "Sleep Tight" I thought that Angel was turning back into Angelus. Holtz said that he would and I realized how much Angel loved Connor. The scene with Angel throwing the glass of blood at the wall was what made me belive this but then I learned what was actually happening. Real interesting theory though.

I don't think it's about intimacy at all- I think it's about Angel forgetting even for one second what he is and what he's done-- and I'm sure Conner and his innocence only highlighted to Angel what he was-- made him more afraid of his inner demon possibly.

Plus, Buffy and Angel were never stated as soulmates, so we have to take that into account, or else we're basing theories on insubtantial facts. Otherwise, great idea🙂

I just see it more as his punishment- the fact that he is never allowed to feel safe in his own body. Poor guy.
