How has Buffy Boards Helped you?

BB has helped me a little; it was the first forum and website that I've ever used for pleasure and even though I now have very little to add to the Buffy/Angel discussion (I love the shows but am seemingly not as obsessed as the majority of others here) I still stick around for the off-topic discussion in The Bronze. I'm usually only on here for about an hour a week in total but it is a nice form of temporary escapism. Other then this I really like some of the people I've met here, Zobothehobo, Willowmylove, Mayfever and in particular BananaBuffy because she's hilarious. I don't speak to anybody here outside of the forum but do enjoy coming here to catch up with the aforementioned people as well as Caitaintdead, who is my first ever proper 'internet friend' and the person from here I like the most.

The forum has also clarified my distaste for unreasonable censorship, but it's worth putting up with a little bad for a lot of good 🙂

Buffy boards has helped me find a larger audience of Buffy fans. My mom watches it like me but that is about it. I have one other friend. So it is always fun to come on here and see the fans and have discussions. Trust me I would talk my moms ear off about the show so lets just say it has helped her as well. What can I say when I love a show I love it 😛

Plus I have met some very nice people on here who I am glad to call my friends. 🙂

Asking people to express themselves appropriately is NOT censorship. If you don't like how we do things here, please feel free to leave.

Wanna hear a story about unreasonable censorship? Forums have automatic censors which is why here on BB if you type the f word it shows up stars. Well on another forum I used to frequent, the word "cracker" is censored.

Which brings up another thing BB has done for me. The lack of forced censorship with just the suggested censorship has made me curse less. More and more in my real life where I used to say "bitch" I'm saying "bitca" because I do it here. And I think it's because "bitch" isn't censored here so I can say it if I so choose, and "bitca" is not publicly encouraged by the staff... but the overall tone of the board suggest you should use it. I legit curse less now. YAY for that!

Well, like it says in the FAQ, everyone swears now and then. But if you're peppering all your posts with it, it really is unnecessary and doesn't add to what you're saying. And it puts off a lot of people. I didn't just make that rule up...it came after a lot of people contacted me concerned about it. (The same with all the posts about being totally hammered and high btw.) We only censor 2 curse words on here, the two that you NEVER have a legitimate reason to use.

If you don't learn to express yourself without cursing - or with good grammar and punctuation or without text talk - other people WILL wrongly think you're stupid. It IS important to have the ability to express your ideas properly so that people see YOU for YOU.

It's fine to swear amongst friends and use kewl talk when chatting...I definitely do...but this is a different kind of format.

Before BB I didn't really have anyone to talk to about buffy/angel etc. This is the only site that I've signed up on and stayed here lol and I love it and everyone here

Also Before BB I never made art/banners, and once I finish my ged (only 2 test left 🙂 lol) I'm going to school to become a graphic designer 😀
