Call it a random wild thought I had recently but I was thinking; Future Ted never referes to the 'mother' as his wife....does he?

He did in a recent episode with a future flashforward (or technically, less of a flashback) say "Wheres my wife?" but that was set in 2027 I believe (whereas Future Ted is 2030) and it could be either a hint of a future breakup, or a kind of ironic able-to-joke-about-it-now statement.

Carter and Bays said season three Ted is showing the stage in his life where he will become cynical, and maybe the "mother" leaving him would be the final nail in the coffin?

Blame the non-romantist in me but I'd like it if in the last episode it was revealed who the mother was, but also that it didn't work out (although I'll admit, thats a bit gloomy for a tv sitcom).

would that mean that ted ended up with the kids, or that the mother was ok with him coming over to tell a story about before and when he met her for hours?

i think this story is taking more than a weekend. lol. :lmfao:

thats a good question though, about a clothes change. so maybe its been many weekends where he had custody.

its an interesting theory.

What if she's dead? Just a suggestion... I don't know much about it yet though. I just got to the end of season 1 so I've still got a good couple of seasons to get through.

I never really thought of it. First of all, I didn't know they were ever married until recently (the "where's my wife"-thing), second... I just figured he referred to her as their mother 'cause it sounds a hell of a lot funnier than "How I Met My Wife"...

(Err I think I thought I had something interesting to say, then I started playing with a pencil I found on my desk, drawing on my hands, and I forgot..)

come to think of it then, just because he said that wife thing, who's to say his wife was their mother in the first place?! maybe, they were never married, but he got her pregnant and later married someone totally different! then there's the spin-off, "how i met your step-mother" :silly:

LOL!! Except most step mothers fit into the fairytale villain category!!! Sad but true.
