I don't know if anyone else has seen this episode, but I was rewatching the series (after watching Angel) and Amy was in this episode helping Ted do a rain dance to keep his love interest away from Sandy (Alexis Denisof). Amy was a Fred-like character, nerdy type named Penelope. It's really funny. Anyone else seen it?
 
I have seen a little clip of it and in my insanity I decided that Penelope and Sandy should get together. I guess I qualify as a crazy fan. Lol!
 
What's the episode called and which season is it from? 🙂 Sorry if that's a stupid question, I've never seen How I Met Your Mother but I really want to look in to it now!
 
I don't know if this Ted guy understands the narrative process. He seems to add far too many unimportant details into the story of how he met his kid's mother. I mean, if I'd been listening to this story, I'd have pulled out the iPod a long time ago.
 
Yup, I saw the episode (along with all the other ones), and it was funny. I woner if it was a coincidence that Amy and Alexis ended up in the same episode 😉 Well, it's probably just my Buffyness making me see insane pattern, but I thought it was nice.

I agree that that girl was really similar to Fred in a way. And honestly, I didn't think that neither Fred nor that girl would be the type of woman to fall for Barney's games...
 
Yes I've seen it too, from the commentary for episode, if i recall, both Alyson and Neil are friends with Amy so that's probably how she got on the show. A great, but sad ending of the first season.

I've heard even more than that. The creators of HIMYM are also supposed to be big Buffy fans I've read somewhere (so that explains why they might appreciate Whedon people), Joss Whedon is friends with Cobie Smulders, well then you already named the Amy connection, Alexis Denisof is of course married to Alyson, Neil was on Joss Whedon's Dr. Horrible...it's really awesome to see just how interconnected these 2 completely different shows are!

Forget the iPod. What about breaks for bathrooms, food, sleep, and possibly even your yearly medical checkup? (sw)

And there's even more! Morena Baccarin (yeah, I totally looked up how to spell her name) was a girl Marshall dated in the second season episode "Swarley" and she also worked in a coffee shop with Tom Lenk.
Seriously, there's an awesome crossover hidden in there somewhere.

Don't forget that Harry Groener, the Mayor in Buffy, also appears in one episode.
