How is the First able to manifest as Buffy?

I can see how it can be Spike or Drusilla, because they are dead. Buffy, although she does have a way of dying, is actually alive. So, how can the First manifest to Spike as her? Has this been explained somewhere?
 
I think it was because The First can take on he form of anyone who has died, and Buffy has died so he can take on her form.

If you want a slightly more explainable answer, with a bit of my own theory, remember in Season 6 how Spike was able to hit Buffy, and Tara looked into it, and she said Buffy didn't come back different she came back with maybe a few molecules out of place, maybe it is the old Buffy, the one with the molecules in place that the first is taking the form of 🙂
 
Pretty much as said above, the first can be anyone who has been dead. Buffy was technically dead at the end of season 5. When she was brough back Spike could hurt her and he cannot harm living people but because of her death he was able to hurt her, same with the first as she was dead teh first was able to be her.
 
I thought it was quite clearly defined as any being who had died was able to be manifested by the First. This involves all dead humans, buffy, and more importantly all the influential vampires we've seen throughout the series. We have seen the Master, Dru, Spike, the Mayor, and Adam as the First which pretty much goes to show the depth of which the First can take on. Take Adam...he never even existed to begin with, he was a formation of parts, which subsequently died. It doesn't have anything to do with Buffy having molecules changed...it has to do with the fact she died... twice. She existed when she shouldn't have, in the same way the vampires do... hence, the First having control over things not of this world.

Which brings up the speculation of just why the First never bothered to appear to Buffy as either Angel or Angelus (network crossover limitations, I know, but, still, that could have resulted in an absolutely great scene, maybe involving Buffy, Faith, and Spike)

I remember reading a lot of speculation about Warren being back in season 8--people saying that since he died in season 6 finale and appeared as The First in season 7, that he shouldn't have been back in season 8. But if he died and was then resurrected by Amy, it makes sense, right?

It's funny that this thread showed up though because I was just explaining the same thing to my sister who's watching the show for the first time.
 
More to the point it could have become Spike and killed Buffy?
Since the first can become any dead person it wants,does it get that persons powers(as in Glory)?
And as already stated,Buffy came back wrong,the old Buffy died,and the changed Buffy came back in her place.Imoa.

It doesn't take anything from them I think. Why would it? it's not like it could use it since it can't touch anything.

The speculation is that the shock of being flayed killed Warren for 1 second. At which point Amy revived him. But he had died. Thus the first could take his form.

Actually it was the fact that Boreanaz already had a full-time job and family. Angelus was originally slated to appear in the "back to the beginning" speech, but due to scheduling issues, Drusilla replaced him.
