How it all got started... The movie!

What did you think of the movie? I hated it! First of all, Buffy isn't buffy without willow and xander. Here are some differences I noticed:

1- the way Buffy was called in the movie was different then in the movie. In the movie, Buffy was in her school doing flips and stuff, and in becoming pt 1 she's outside her school.

2- when she staked the vampires, they didn't turn to dust in the movie

3- in becoming pt 1, Buffy actually faught the vampire when she was in the cemetery, and in the movie she just watched

4- the watchers were totally different

5- this isn't one but it sucked that she didn't do her fancy slayer moves.

What did you think about this movie? Any differences I missed?
 
I think having the show different from the movie was kinda the point. Joss consciously wanted to differentiate from the movie and the show.

What we see on the show is what 'really' happened. There's a graphic novel that tie into this, called 'The Origin'. Check it out. It rewrites the movie that way intended.
 
The movie wasn't great, but it had its moments. I saw it in the theatre and was entertained enough that I didn't feel like I'd wasted my money.

I certainly don't see anything in the film worthy of hate. I mean, it's not The Naked Lunch bad or anything.
 
The movie was waaaaaaaaaaaaaay worse that the show..Poor special effects, strange looking vamps and Buffy-SMG is just perfect for the role Kristie Swanson or whatever her-name-was was OK,but SMG was a lot better as Buffy then she was in the movie
 
I thought is was alright. Sarah was way better at buffy and the fights alone were odd. But as someone said, Pike was cute.
 
I think the movie was ok, ofcourse they would change some things from the movie. Buffy was way more preppy in Hemery in the show then she was in the movie. But one thing that was good in the movie is how they tell how is a slayer and who isnt with the whole mole thing. And I always wanted Kirstie(movie Buffy) to appear on the show for an episode so they could always make fun of themselves.

That would have been fun! But I swear I remember the show having some Kristy Swanson clips of her as previous slayers. Maybe I imagined it.
 
I liked the mole thing. Mostly because I have a mole in the same place, and I constantly tell my boyfriend I'm a Slayer because I have the mole. It's pretty awesome.
 
Here's something for you. Joss Whedon hated the movie. He wrote it to be like the TV show, but the woman who directed it felt it should be campy, although Joss told her no. However, if it wasn't for the movie, I would have NEVER given the show a second thought. But I saw the show, and liked it 100x more than the movie.
 
I thin that since the movie and the show are meant to have a different feel to it (Even if Joss didn't inted it that way) it is a good movie if you don't want it to be like the show. It has it's really funny and good and intense moments. I heard from an ok source that the reason there is no Buffy movie after 7 years is because Kristy is the movie buffy and SMG is the show Buffy. If they make a movie, it would have to star Kristy.

It's bad when you hated your own movie.

I thought the movie sucked. If I wasn't a fan of Buffy TV Show maybe when I saw it I wouldn't compare it to the movie.
 
Actually, the movie scares me.

(Not only because it is horrible and hard to watch without being bored), but there's something about the vampires that always scared me.

I've never been able to figure it out. The vamps and demons on the show never scared me, but on the movie they did.

I think that Sarah makes it all better to watch. 🙂

But yeah, there were a lot of differences, and I agree that Joss probably wrote the tv show to be different and not flow along the same lines as the movie.
