How long did it take for you to get hooked?

Maybe it's because I've have not seen every episode of BtVs yet, or perhaps it's due to the fact that I have not watched any episode more than once (going through the whole series first before I rewatch them).

Whatever the reason is, I can't honestly say I can find any part to pin down as a defining moment when I could truly say "This is a brilliant show"

It certainly has its high points and plenty of drama with fun included, but nothing has grabbed me to the point of being hooked.

Also, I have watched almost six full seasons in what amounts to a mere two months. Maybe that's too fast to enjoy it fully?

Anyway, at what point did you guys and girls get hooked on the Buffy world? Could it be I have not yet gotten to that point yet?

personally, i got hooked after just one episode.
i tuned into 'Welcome to the Hellmouth' when it first aired on BBC2 over here in the UK, and i was just hooked after the teaser.
the fact that Joss had flipped everything on it's head and turned the little blonde girl (who is supposed to die in the opening minute) into the monster was just such a unique thing to do.
he made the heroine a 16 year old high school blonde which was something very few people had done before.
and, being a blonde teenage girl myself at the time, i just thought it was great!!
so it took me one ep to get hooked...an ep, which, looking back on, was not one of the greatest in the show's run.

After ten minutes. I only caught the last ten minutes of smashed and immediately wanted to know why the blonde vampire and Buffy had umm, weird violent sex.

Well, first I watched Hush when it was a repeat. I liked it, but I found it a bit too scary. Then I watched Real Me when it aired and I was hooked. It's not exactly an episode that would make most people get hooked, but it did it for me!

And you might be using the wrong word. There must be some reason you've watched six seasons, so try to think of the first episode that made you want to keep watching.

The first episode I saw was actually The Gift, and I was totally hooked! But I rarely watched or watch Buffy on tv, I just bought the dvds.

i'd seen bits of it on tv, but never a whole show, was never very impressed. just thought it was some boring teen show.

was watching a repeat episiode on fox with my mum, the harvest and luke says "I thought you nothing more than a meal, boy. Congratulations. You've just been upgraded. To bait." and we just looked at each other and were all "this show is awesome"

that's my story 🙂

I got hooked i think in the 3rd season, my older brother moved back in with us and he loved the show, so i started watching it with him, Took like two episodes to get me hooked. Years later i still love it. 🙂

I don't think there is just one moment that hooks you. Yes, maybe the first episode you saw was very interesting and got your attention. But I think it's the continuation of storylines, plots, writing, and many many things that really hook you and draw you in, salivating for more.

Season 3 got me hooked... or rather; Faith got me hooked. I had watched some eps on the telly when they were airing season 2 but since my stupid brain had told me that the show sucked and I didn't get much of what I was watching, I just didn't pay much attention to the show. And besides, it was aired like in the middle of the night on friday's or something olike that. Totally crazy. But one night I turned on the telly when the episode 'The Zeppo' just in that scene where Faith's fighting that she-demon. I was like :jawdrop:

I was hook, line and sinker straight away. I had the biggest celeberty crush I've ever had on Eliza for like a year, then it started to sorta cool down. Oh, those were the days.

I was hooked when I watched becoming pt2 with my dad. The second Angel went to hell I knew I would never stop watching the show and I havent yet.

Personally, I hated BtVS for years before I became hooked 😀
I saw random episodes and was "omg this show is lame" (keep in mind I was a kid and watched the early seasons, cencored and with subtitles).
Two years ago I started being really stressed and wasn't feeling that great, anyways, every day after school I just went home and watched TV and for some crazy reason they showed BtVS 5pm in Sweden every day.. So I started thinking it was lame but fun to watch. Then I read about Amber Benson and the fact that she was gonna show up.. and well.. I started uh, finding random episodes to watch (in no order at all) and well.. Tara/Willow got me hooked... But it took me a long time..

I started to get hooked in Season 1 after the episode "Angel" ...

Season 2 when Angelus comes back I was hooked through and through.

Maybe that's why I've always been a die hard Angel fan....because it's his character that actually hooked me on the show in the first place.

I remember I had seen Welcome to the Hellmouth when it first aired and I was nine years old then. I had seen the original movie with Kristi Swanson and loved it so I decided to watch the show. I was kinda disappointed that it was so different from the movie (I was 9 okay!) so I didn't watch anymore episodes until season 3. I saw the episode Homecoming and thought "This is allright." I then saw The Wish, and I loved that episode. It became my favorite at that time. After that I saw the ep Earshot and Graduation. I loved those episodes so I started watching season 4 and then I never missed an ep of Buffy or Angel. I became officially hooked in the episode Fear Itself. I remember watching it and I thought "This show is awesome!!"

I watched it when Season 2 was airing, but I was mealy watching it I was not obsessed. I watched episodes here and there, then I saw the episode in Season 3 Where Angel came back from Hell, and I was like "OMG Angels, back I have to find out more about how he went in the first place" Cuz I knew that it was a huge storyline and the shock factor was so cool! So from then on I was completely hooked!

I'd seen bits of episodes and thought it was just teen fluff. Then a cute girl I worked with beseeched me to give it a proper try. The first ep I watched was Buffy vs Dracula and I thought it was pretty silly, not impressed. Then I watched Real Me and thought it ridiculous that they were bringing in a sister for Buffy when she'd never had one before. Somehow I persisted though, and when it got to No Place Like Home, I suddenly got what was happening and thought the concept was rather nifty. I guess I've been hooked ever since.

I was another one of those that got hooked right away, but to be honest if your gonna become a fan today I think it takes a lot more than just one episode, probably the entire first season and bits of the second.

Because back when I got hooked, first of all I was a teenager despertaly seeking for that right thing and then back when I first saw it (when it first aired in Sweden, a few years after in US I guess) there was nothing on telly that was anywhere near what BtVS was. It made certain things so clear and normal and showed things I had never seen on telly before and I fell madly inlove at first sight.

I can honestly say I don't know! I did watch Season 1 when it first aired, but I wasn't on the verge of obsession. I just watched it if I was at home and didn't worry if I missed it.

I always watched Buffy when it was on the BBC, but I missed most of Season 4 and 5, just because I wasn't that bothered. I think the turning point for me was when I got Sky TV, just as Season 6 was about to air, and as Season 3 Angel was airing. I suddenly couldn't miss an episode. That was when I started to collect the Box Sets. I had to know what I had missed over the years. When Season 7 aired, I didn't actually have Sky at the time, so I got my friend to tape it for me and then I finally caved and signed up for Sky! Thus I think this is when I realised I was obsessed!

I wasn't really hooked at first, it actually took some time. I used to just catch an episode here and there when they first started airing it in sweden, but I didn't think much of it first, and then I didn't have the channel they aired it on and so on.. But after a while I started watching it again, at first just for fun, I didn't believe it was truly a good show.. And after a while I was just hooked, but it wasn't like a specific moment when I realized it, it just sneaked up on me.

I got hooked, along with the hubby when it first aired on Sky One all those years ago. It only took the first episode, by the end of which we were well and truly hooked, and raved about it to our friend. She watched it, loved it too and from then on we used to have regular Buffy fests & feasts, which consisted of marathon nights of Buffy eps, accompanied by loads of salty goodness, in the shape of snacks & nibbles etc

It's great because our kids were too young for it back then, but now with the eldest just started High School, we're getting to relive it all over again by sharing with them. 😀 So it's still quite normal to find all of us glued to the tv watching a Buffy DVD. 😀
