How long did you lurk for????

Not a lurker, I guess. With all due respect to any lurkers out there (though you probably won't comment back even if you're offended!), I just don't think it's much fun to read other people's discussions and not weigh in. I know I haven't posted much since I've been a member, but I didn't have the internet for a few months so I assure you, there's been little to no lurking!
 
I've told this story before a few times, but I stumbled onto this board so randomly I'm sure it was fate 🙂 I had a day off one day and was bored out of my mind, decided to put Chaod Bleeds in the PS2 after years of not playing and being stuck in the Initiative level (which I still am, lol). Frustrated as all hell at the damn cyborgs I came online to look for people with answers and in my google search was a thread on this forum. It had been a while since I'd been actively a member on any boards but this one was active and looked promising, so i said what the hell and registered within the hour of reading that post on the video game, pretty much immediately made a check in thread and well, the rest is history. I don't really ever lurk, and i do post very frequently, but generally I just post if I really have something I want to say or add to the discussion that I feel hasn't been said to death already 🙂

I´m not offended so I can comment. 😉 Still not sure if people will accept me as a lurker though. I see your point but people are different so that some people see it your way isn´t surprising. But to me neither is the fact that some people like to just read. Reasons for not posting can be more than one. And why add to a conversation if everything you wanted to say is already been said? And I for one know I avoid posting sometime because I just can´t put down my thoughts in writing. Not that it always keep my from posting (as seen in many of my posts :tongue🙂 but it sure happens.

So let me put it this way instead. Even though I have a lot of posts it doesn´t mean that I can´t read a lot of threads and enjoy them (which the discussion more or less seem to be about) without posting anything of my own thoughts in them.
 
I think I lurked for all of about 5 minutes before I registered, and then immediately started posting away! I actually racked up a post count of about 10 before I even noticed the "introduce yourself" forum and posted a "hello, I'm a newbie" thread. Having too much fun everywhere else, LOL!

I registered straight away and introduced myself... got right into posting here and there ... it lasted about 2 weeks before I slipped into lurk mode.

Speaking of which - I must return to lurking or else the universal balance will be off!

I think I 'lurked' for about 5 seconds. I was a member of that infamous, and now defunct, Angel site, but I was getting more and more annoyed with the place, as people never seemed to want to talk about the shows much, so I googled 'Buffy Fourms', trailed through the links, and this one was by far the best. I joined up, searched through the threads for a bit, then introduced myself as 'Lyri. No, that's really my name.' Technically, it is, there's just a space between 'Ly' and 'Ri' and a few more letters added on, lol.
 
I think I lurked for about five minutes, thought this place looked good and was actually ACTIVE. Plus I was rewatching Buffy and Angel at the time and wanted to talk to people about it. So I eagerly joined and haven't looked back.
 
I'm one of those people who'll come across a board, join and then have a browse. If it turns out a board isn't for me, then I just don't post. I don't think I've ever been a lurker on any board, I'll always post even if it's just the odd post in threads like the 'What Are You Listening To?' it lets people who might remember me know that I haven't fallen off the face of earth I guess.
 
I found these Boards in May 2001 while looking for some old friends from another deceased Board and signed up at the begining of August 2001. I had just about got to 100 posts before the old board mysteriously vanished in December 2001.
I signed up to this version of Buffy-Boards when it opened in February 2002 when the eponymous Buffy Summers told me that they were up and running and posted a hello thread straight away. Nearly seven years later I still have only 62 posts. I'm pretty sure that qualifies me as a lurker par exellence! : king :

I actually found BB while at school - yes, I was supposed to be doing something scholarly, and yes, I put in a Google search for 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer message boards' instead. I think I checked the site out for about a week before joining full stop.

I've always been a big anti-postwhore - I don't post for the sake of reading my own posts, I post when I feel have something relevant to add to a discussion. That's not to say I haven't been guilty of postwhoring when I'm in the mood...the Merrick Common Room is a good example of that. But I can't honestly say I remember how long I lurked after joining. Once I got to know people better, I think, would be the time where I started posting more and being more 'out there', as it were. That's all a very blurry timeframe compared to now, where I know and love and bunch of people and have no qualms about saying anything I feel needs to be said.

Meh. That was a very long-winded way to say, "Y'know what? I ain't got a clue."
