I only started watching Angel in it's last season, and didn't start watching till the 100 ep. U know when an episode of a show that you have only seen a few times makes you all cry-y, it's good. Or I am sap one??!! Who am I kidding I am a sap. I get all cry-y watching Buffy all the time, and I have seen the series through about 4 times now. I am a newbie right? 😛 I started watching Buffy in Season Two, but due to school and all my extra curricular activities, I lost track of it. However, I am not here to give you my history. LOL

I wonder how much Angel was changed to accomodate he fact that this was the final season, and not just the season 5 originally envisioned? Did Joss plan for the season to end with the big battle we saw??
 
From my (limited) knowledge of the cancellation of Angel:

As far as i know, Angel was expected to be renewed for at least another season and perhaps another two (I heard James Marsters say this in an interview just after cancellation). Apparently they were always going to go into battle with W&H in order to get away from the law firm. Wes would not have died, Gunn was going to get turned and be the big bad for the next season that was to be set in a city in the grips of a demonic civil war/apocalyptic type situation. Drusilla was yet to be dealt with too. The cancellation came right after the 100th episode (re-runs become more valuable after 100eps or something like that) and so the writers had to quickly pull together the threads that they'd been carefully crafting for the coming seasons and wrap things up much quicker than they would have liked. Luckly the season six comic should give us a bit more of the story.
 
The show was cancelled mid-season (they weren't going to renew for a season six). So, I'm thinking that it would've have been different if it were to been going on.
