Agree - my impression was that Buffy was over whelmed with the love and concern and generosity that Giles has shown her. It was, considering her financial situation not extravagant, but it would get her over the most pressing bills and all the stress.

What I don't understand in the comic books is all that stuff about Buffy and her student loans as she did not actually attend college for a long period of time. My impression is that Buffy had to drop out of college pretty quickly.
