How much do you use social media?

Insta is so great for craft and pets!

I didnt understand hashtags at first but they are kinda fun now.

I post and read facebook twitter and insta daily.

Intsagram is all for the bunnies. #anyabun

I check social media way too much....I need to disconnect more often.

I use FB but mainly for a couple groups I'm in that are entertaining.
I scroll through Instagram a few times a day.
I snapchat some.
I check Twitter maybe twice a week.

LinkedIn only and that is mainly for business.

Once the merger happens between YouTube, Twitter and Facebook to provide the first antisocial network, YouTwitFace, I will be the first to join.

As for forums, I am on ClubRoadster, Miata.net, AudioKarma, DIYstompboxes and the Buffy Boards. I have a minor presence in a few other forums that I don't visit that often.

I don't use it, other than checking someone who has it if I'm worried about them (like are they still alive and on their feet). I even avoid texting outside very select situations. Many years ago (over 10) I did used to use MySpace to keep up with certain bands, but I never joined up. The only way I could see using something like FB today is for money, that is it would merely be window dressing for potential employers to look at, or it would be to reach a lot more people to sell them something (if you wanna hunt then you gotta go where the prey is 😉 )

I'll dabble in forums if a subject interests me, usually coming and going, but other than that most of my electronic communication is by email, which I exchange quite a bit of both for personal and business reasons.

When I'm REALLY bored I'll check out FB...and Twitter. And instagram.

Only stay on instagram for a few people I admire. Twitter, the same. But FaceBook is crazy-making. I ONLY stay because of the sheer number of friends I have on there....jeez!

Occasionally I'll chat (usually about metal of course!), check out my newsfeed which just...too much.

I don't have Facebook or Twitter anymore. I do have Instagram and Snapchat but I'm mostly there to receive updates, hardly ever post anything.
I'm not really one for sharing my life publicly these days 😳
As for where I spend most of my time, I Mod on another forum so I check in with that one at least ten times a day. And I scroll through Pinterest whenever I'm bored.

You would think I would learn after 2015, but nope... here I am wondering if I share my story very publicly for a class action case (I am not involved in the case as I cant afford it, but they represent what I went through). I've already shared all over the internet on forums and such, but this has a much larger audience.

I have this push, this drive, to make sure as many people as possible are aware that the system makes you crazy, and its completely ok to act like a human, even on the internet. I like to remind the facebook robots that I am a human, and post about human things very often, much to the dismay of my followers haha.

I activated my old fb again just the other day (looking for any non medical ideas for my stomach upsets) and it makes me really mad. I tense up because I see something that is utter bullshit, and know these people in real life. They are so freaking hateful! I dont unfriend people because the more I have the more I can Gish to and hopefully challenge their ideas.

The latest going round is "I saw a homeless man with an Iphone 7, dont give homeless any support they dont deserve it!" and this story that I read in 2008 which is pretty much exactly the same as the first time but now with pictures and being spread like it just happened... fake news? Its so frustrating!

I've removed the FB app again, because it was causing my phone to run super slow. Still have Instagram and Twitter...but no Snap Chat.

I really, really miss the old MySpace! I think it's still around but it's changed a lot. Last time I checked, I hardly recognised it! The chatty forums disappeared. *frowny face*

It irks me how so many sites have dropped their "social" aspects (like forums!) and made things more like Twitter. I prefer the intimacy of chatting back and forth. 😎

I've really got into Instagram recently. I think I prefer it to Facebook.

I can only speak for the United States, but plenty of the homeless do have iphones and lappies. However, this isn't them with hidden bank accounts, they either brought these things with them from before they were homeless, or they find them super cheap (maybe even stolen)...and many were also getting free phones from some company that was part of some plan (some private charity or government paid for the service for a full year) in the hopes that the homeless could get jobs, or at least the services they need. Many of the homeless can't even get disability or emergency housing because there is simply no way to contact them, though there is a trick that can be used as the post office (I forget what it is), and it was another reason why free phones were given to the homeless as a measure to help get them off the streets. And some have become temporarily homeless who are perfectly willing and able to work, and the first thing they have to do to get a job is get their own phone for obvious reasons (as opposed to booze), so it would strike me as a good sign rather than a reason to not help.

That said, the idea that people would say the homeless don't deserve it because they have a phone is just bizarre to me. Even if they saw ONE homeless man with it, then it could've been his before he was homeless, could've been gift (like say by worried relatives) or charity or on sale, or it could've even been stolen. And that one man can't be used to define the homeless in general.

And like an already paid phone can be as little as $20/month with a basic plan, but rent is anywhere from 500-1000+ where I am. Makes complete sense for homeless people to possibly afford a phone but not a rent.
Exactly! How do people expect the homeless to access services without phones? Its so crappy how society looks at poverty and I cant hack it. So I think that has helped my decision not to go forward with my story, because people suck in general. This stupid status from one persons observation has thousands of likes and dozens of shares. "Warning" others not to be scammed by the homeless. Seriously!?!?!?!

I've completely disconnected from all social media accounts (besides this one, if you want to call it that). Clean and sober for about 2 years now. Might seem pretty weird in this uber connected world, yet I've managed to live on. I got tired of having tons of Facebook and Instagram followers that I hardly knew that well, and therefore became utterly disinterested in what brand of cereal they had that morning. 😛 I have approximately 2 best friends, and they're both married to each other. Haha. So my most important contacts can be found in the comfort of my nice phone. I kinda love it actually. It's freeing.

I haven't thought about it like that but yeah....this place relieves my stress. Whedon people are cut from a different cloth I guess. LOL.
I'm kind of done with social media. I'm on facebook still, but regretably. Nothing productive comes of it. With my friends you get an endless mind numbing stream of angry political posts. I try to tell them to read Melville or something, but all in all, the suggestion goes over their heads. I love my friends, but their mindset is stuck on things they don't understand. Political activism can only work if you understand the condition. And furthermore, things like facebook have a way of bringing out the worst in people. My friends are priceless in person and engaging in their humanity. But as soon as they start posting on facebook, another side comes out. And another side comes out of me in the process.

The closest thing to a social medium I have ever been on is LinkedIn. But that is more of a business board than social. There is one site I am on (AudioKarma) where there is an ad for Facebook that says, "Join now and see what your friends recommend". Words cannot express how little I regard what any so-called "friends" think. I just don't have the mindset for social media.

I don't use any form of social media (unless you count forums such as this one). Period.

I dislike how intrusive the are. Why would I want to tell the whole world when I go for a dump? Or what colour underwear I'm wearing on any given Tuesday in April? Simple answer, I wouldn't. I'm not one for airing my dirty laundry in public and social media, whilst I'm certain it has it's good points as well as the bad side of things, just isn't for me....
