How much has your Buffy/Angel obsession cost you?

I mean in dollars 😉 not socially

I think if I was to add up what I'd spent over the years on DVDs (2 copies), tie-in books, critical essay collections, official magazines, posters, jewellery, comics (various versions of the SAME COMICS), figurines etc etc. Anyway, it would be a lot, easily in the thousands. Joss owes me a shot in his car I've obviously funded!

lol I definitely thought this was gonna be about emotional trauma, or like becoming socially inapt because I spend all my time online discussing an old TV show :P
Not a jot. I borrowed all of your DVDs until you had enough and bought me the boxset for either a Christmas or Birthday.

Not got any comics (I'd just borrow yours anyway).

Never been to any conventions, don't own any figurines or anything like that.

The DVDs have been sitting collecting dust since BtVS and AtS became available to stream on Netflix, too. But I have been considering buying the Angel boxset just for the special features (commentaries etc). Or, I can just borrow yours.

So, may I please borrow your Angel boxset? Thanks!

He certainly owns me a little, too.

DVDs, comics (hard copies and digital), books, CDs and dolls - all imports, (except for 4 seasons of BtVS and Angel). And these days that the Brazilian Real reached an all time high of 4.00 (to $ 1.00), I'm almost going bankrupt.

Ah jeez, I forget how much more expensive it can be for you guys who have to import!

The Canadian dollar is beginning to look like a Canadian peso, around 70 cents American, so I haven't made many purchases lately, but I have the box sets of Buffy and Angel and Firefly and at $20 per year covered, that adds up to $260. No comics though - the hard-cover editions are glorious but at $32.99 Canadian, they are just a bit too much.

Well it certainly set me back a bit when the DVDs were first being released. I have all of them in super pretty hardcover collector's edition boxes. They were pretty much what Amazon UK had to offer at the time so there wasn't all that much choice, hehe. They're lovely though, but take up a fair bit of space, and were so pricey at the time I wouldn't get rid of them now even if I wanted to. 😛

Oh I love those editions! The only one I got was Angel Season 1, and only because it was a small independent shop that was selling it and must have underpriced it at the time. Mine!
I think they're called Bible cases

I don't have a lot of room for stuff, so I only have a few things: DVDs from B1-4 and A1-3, a Sunnydale High tee shirt, claddagh ring and Buffy's cross from S1, the board game. And the Angel casefiles book that Faith got me 😀

I have that shirt, too.
Well if that claddagh ring ever feels like a space-consuming burden... I'm here for you 😀

Over $500 but under $1,000 would be my guess but I honestly never really paid much attention to how much I was spending. Most of that went to comics.

In the early days of fandom I spent a ton load of cash on action figures, Sideshow 12" Figures, premium format statues and puppets of Angel and Spike. 😀

Also daft things like the Gem of Amara replica which I manage to snag for a reasonable price off of eBay years after it's release.

These days I just could not afford to splash out like that. For example I would have loved to have got the Sideshow Spike Marquette that they brought out a few years back, but just couldn't justify spending that kind of dough sadly.

I cant find any buffy merchandise to spend money on,but id buy so many Faith figures if I found a way!

Well eBay still has a fair old selection. I still browse the toy section every now and again and often see Faith stuff scattered about.

As some of you may know, I collect memorbila from the show. If I added up the amount of money I've spent on just collectibles alone, it'd be in the thousands, for sure.

Being a fan girl of Buffy - or of anything, really - can get costly.

Only a few but I'm jealous! I got a tiny silver slayer Scythe necklace from an Etsy seller and I don't even wear jewellery. It's just so pretty. 😀

To be clear, I'm not judging. I see it the same way as a hobby, as my hobbies are quite expensive but I'm just happy I'm able to use my money on what makes me happy. 🙂

I barely buy TV show merch, both Buffy and Angel are on multiple streaming services and I get turned off by comic books, so in total I spent zero money on the Buffyverse 😀

Thousands, conventions at around a minimum of about £500 each, and there's a fair few of them, VHS boxsets were £80 per season, then I got dvds after that, probably had about 50 books at one points, from novels to watchers guides. t shirts, mugs, the board game and various other bits and pieces. Yeah it all adds up and I really don't want to think too much on it!
