I just watched "Beauty and The Beasts" and Giles talks about how time moves differently in a hell dimension and that Angel was probably down there for hundreds of years.

Why aren't those hell years added onto his overall age? He is considered to be roughly about 240 years old yet in reality he spent hundreds of years in a hell dimension.

Also why isn't he developing similar facial and body features to Kakistos and The Master if he is so old?
 
Even if he did tack on those 100 years, he wouldn't be developing those features. That'd make him a bit over 300 and Darla was 400+; she still looked normal.

Why aren't the years added on though, because in reality he has been around for closer to 400 years. I guess they just disregard the time in the hell dimension.

Well since time moved differently there I suppose they chose to disregard it, (also I imagine for simplicity's sake.)

Besides was Angel's time in the hell dimension really 'timed'. When he tells Connor his girlfriend sent him to hell for a hundred years I always assumed that was just an estimation on his part.
 
It's always frustrated me that they don't add on the hell dimension years to his age. Obviously Connors time in a hell dimension was added on, they say he's 15, not 2 weeks old, so why wouldn't they consider Angels hell dimension time?

I guess Kakistos and The Master were a lot older then Angel and Darla. I've always thought they were reeeally old. Like thousands of years old. Not just hundreds.

Maybe the change in appearance was not just due to age either, but the degree of evil they embraced.

Because Connor is human and visibly ages. Angel doesn't.
 
Oops I meant to type 18 there for Connor not 15.

I know that connor visibly ages but they use the same human years for vampires that they do for humans. Angel not aging shouldn't change the age he actually is. In that case he should still be 28.
 
Angels age was never really referenced that much throughout the show anyway so why bother adding on 100yrs? People lie about their age all the time, maybe Angel didnt want to seem extra old by being almost 400.

I like the idea of Angel lieing about his age to seem younger!
Angel was trapped their for a hundred years but he doesnt age he was still born 250+ years ago. So to add on more age would be confusing because he wasnt born 400 years ago. Whereas with Connor obviously his age changes cause he changed visibly but his birthday is still like a year ago :S its still confusing lmao.

Forget everything lol Hell dimensions are just confusing.
 
I guess it depends on whether you want to discuss how many Earth years ago he was born, or how long he has lived.

How long he has lived is different (for Angel) than how long ago he was born.

I thought it was odd for them not to add on those extra years. Remember when Holtz and Connor lived in Quor-Toth as a middle aged man and a baby...a week or two later they returned as a really old man and a teenager.

I think that was a plot hole with Angel.
 
@Anya2010: I find it interesting that you refer to Holtz as a middle-aged men...if we went with the notion of adding up the years, shouldn't you call Holtz a several century old man?
And this is exactly the difference with these cases, imo. Connor aged, calling him an infant still would just be incorret. Physically, he was a teenager. Same with Dawn...technically, she was created only recently (or if you include her existance as the key, she's millenia old), yet she was always referred to as a teenager.
Angel, on the other hand, doesn't age. The time in the hell dimension doesn't really matter to him that way. When he came back into his own dimension, he could just follow his old timeline. So that's the difference, Connor couldn't just return to his old life as a toddler, where he left off. Angel could. He might have lived through decades in a hell dimension, but for everyone around him he was still the same Angel that left 3 months (?) ago...so why add a century to his age?
