He may have a privat life, but I say by taking on big roles like these you have to be readdy to share them with your fans, if you don't want to ... don't take the part that'll make you rich and famous!

Just because somebody made a household name of him/herself doesn't justify every Tom, Dick and Harry snooping around in their private lives. He deserves some time off and if others prefer the limelight, well so be it.
I say, let him have his private life! I agree that to some extend celebrities need to be prepared for getting lots of attention and some of them do everything they can to be on the front page and then suddenly complain about it.
JM had made it on stage long before he joined the Buffy crew and it shows in his overall performance what a great ator he is. He can sure handle any kind of role and I'd love to see him in a Shakespeare play. I am positive he would make a great Hamlet too! Something I cannot say of many TV stars nowadays.

I think we should respect his private life; all of the info I posted in reference to his age is public knowlegde, all I did was some simple math to illustrate that it's impossible for him to be 30-33. James chooses not to reveal his age, and I can respect that.
The man gives more of himself to his fans than anyone I know of, how many personal appearances is he making this coming year?

Being in the TV/film industries, actors would be aware there is an interest in them & fans wanting to know his height, eye colour, the name of his dog etc should be accepted. Some stars are always in the spotlight, going to high profile events, premieres, the most fashionable clubs & that will create media interest in them. James has chosen to stay away from that lifestyle so isn't so likely to be intruded upon.

www.JamesMarsters.com says he is about 5'9" I have no idea how much that is in the metric system (which I also use) and Angel81 you're totaly right, this goes for other publical functions too!
Besides if you have a public function a lot of people are not only fans, but look up to you, so I would be good if the knew you're up to good things, they are really role-models.

That's not the point, some persons like him best and if you take a public role, you know they'll want to know everything and you can try to keep things secret, but things like your age is something they deserve to know. It's a minor setback for the life of an actor, but remember the have a fun job and get paid very very very much, so can they tell us their age??? ... I think they can!
Being an actor is neither a public role nor a fun job. they get publicity, yes, but they are not in a public role. The presiden of the US is a public role, but not being an actor.
Fun job? It is hard work once filming for a season commences and their days are very long. Some of them have to get up in middle of the night to go to the studio and don't come back until late at night again. Flimsy costumes to be worn in cold conditions, heavy and warm costumes in extrem heat.... one scene to be done again and again....
Ok, they make jokes in between takes, but who doesn't do that at work.
They are people like you and me, and apart from good performances they don't owe us anything.

Well a "fun" job is really relative, I wouldn't mind changing jobs with them and a lot of others with me! But whenever you get publicity you have a public role, because people look up to you!
Nobody is going to pry into James' private life as he is the type of actor that keeps a low profile. He has picked a profession where there is going to be a little interest in him though. Whether he chooses to tell people or not he has to be aware that fans will be interested to know things about him like his age. No, he isn't public property, but he has to accept that there will always be interest unless he takes himself out of the public eye altogether.
I'm sure lots of his fans would be happy not to know his age if it meant he stayed on their screens, but it doesn't mean they won't speculate.
