How old were you at first watch?

I maybe make some mistakes but this is how I recollected the pieces of the puzzle of how I started to become interested in BTVS.
I was 9 or 10 in 2003-2004 I think I saw the episode Two To Go, it was a rerun of this episode, my brother who was older than me knew the show he didn't watch it regularely but he has saw some episodes it was a show which in France on a channel called M6 there was a program on saturday nights (a bunch of episodes of TV Shows Charmed, Buffy ... it was called La trilogie du samedi). After I saw that episode I started to watch S7 I remember I was sad of Spike's and Anya 's death, I don't know if it was the first aired time or the first rerun of S7 in 2003-2004 in French channels.

And I remember I saw the whole show from the first seasons (reruns) after S7, I bought some official magazines in a shop, my mother even bought me a pillow of BTVS as a gift for my birthday or Christmas I loved it and I still have it. And finally when I was in a shop my intention was to see what magazines the shop had and then I noticed a new edition of dvds BTVS, I was very very lucky, it was the number 1 of 39 volumes to a price of 1,99 euros the following volumes of dvds would be much expensive till it reached 9,99 euros this edition in France was edition Atlas. So I asked my mom to buy them and so I collected all dvds, I searched the date that this edition was in shops in google and it was in january 2005. So I watched and rewatched many times BTVS.

For ATS, I saw it after BTVS in reruns some moments in TV (the scene where Wesley got hurt by Justine severely or Cordelia in a new apartment in S1) without being really interested to watch it entirely, I was alerted by the return of Spike in S5 so I asked to my brother to download on Emule or something like that for me the whole S5 of ATS. So I watched all S5 of divx I was destroyed by Fred's death. Many years after that I downloaded myself S1 of ATS, watched S2 in Dailymotion. I didn't watch S3 & S4 till I bought all the seasons of ATS in dvds in 2014 - 2015 with all the seasons of Buffy that I had to bought a second time because when I was a teenager I wasn't very responsable of my dvds it got all scratched plus the dvds of edition Atlas took a lot of place compared to some of new editions of BTVS.

When I was a teenager I watched Buffy without seeing some things like empowerment, metaphors, BTVS seems more complex now, some episodes that I didn't like or love before, it has changed now like reptile boy, Beer Bad, restless (When I first watched it I was like "what is this episode I don't understand, it's weird") or Not Fade Away (I love it more than before, when I saw the last scene of the last episode of ATS I was shocked by the way it ended, Angel go to fight and then it's the end, this is like that that ATS end but then I understood more the episode and the end about to keep fighting). Sorry if I wrote a long post but it's great for me to write or say how I became a fan of BTVS the TV Show that I love so much since a very long time to some fans that love it as much as I do.

I was 15 when I first started watching Buffy and Angel in mid 2002. I heard of Buffy in the GameMaster video game magazine of all places. First episode of Buffy was “Out of my Mind” and first ep of Angel was “Dear Boy”.

I didn’t really know what was going on in Buffy (I just watched a few eps every now and then), but I remember liking the characters. Watched the rest of Angel season 2, but forgot about the show after that, as TV3 Ireland stopping airing it.
I only really got into both shows nearly a decade later when I started watching them on the digital channel Syfy.

The language barrier ruined it for me the first time around, so I only started watching it properly in my early twenties. I remember watching Buffy v Drac with a friend and being very dismissive of it, but then I watched Welcome to the Hellmouth on my own and fell in love almost immediately. It was the meeting between Buffy and Flutie that sold me.

Sorry if I wrote a long post but it's great for me to write or say how I became a fan of BTVS the TV Show that I love so much since a very long time to some fans that love it as much as I do.

It all started when I was 9 years old. I think the first scene I saw was from OMWF 'What You Feel' with Dawn and Sweet. Because my parents were fans of the show when they were younger and wanted to watch OMWF again because they liked that episode, so they watched that scene/song (What You Feel) on YouTube. So that's the first scene I watched. I still remember that they were pointing at Dawn and saying something like: "That's Buffys sister."
And in the same year, it was my mothers birthday, she got (from my other mother *they're: lesbian gay-type lovers*) the complete dvd box set (season1-7). And so they were watching it.
Then someday I was coming down the stairs and saw the scene in Welcome to the Hellmouth were they're in the Bronze and Giles tells Buffy she has to sence a vampires presence or something. I watched that scene and totally loved it and wanted to watch more. But then I had to go to bed and the next day I didn't think that the show was on DVD, I thought it was on cabel TV. (Idk if 'cabel TV' is right) And I just thought it was a random episode of a show on TV and that we couldn't continue watching, so I didn't ask.
Then the summer holydays came. And 9 year old me had nothing better to do than stand in the hallway and look at the TV to find out what my parents were watching. But they didn't allow me to watch it, and I really wanted to. I normally never do something my parents forbid me to do, but I just wanted to watch that show. So I didn't go back to bed. And because they are used to me always doing what they say, they didn't think I was still standing there. I don't remember wich episode they were watching then. I don't even know if it was season 1 or early season 2. I just know that I was standing there in my pyjama, freezing and still wanting to watch more. Then they realized that I was still watching the show and they said that I should go to bed. But I told them that I wanted to continue watching. They said no, but I didn't go. So they said I shouldn't be standing there because it's too cold and that I should either go to my bed or come to them. Of course I chose to go to them. But I had to promise them that, if I'd get just a single nightmare, I would never watch the show again. And I was wearing a hooded jacket (I even remeber the colour of the jacket: green 😛) over my pyjama. And when scary things came, like vampires, I took the hood of my jacket and covered my face/eyes so I didn't see the scary creatures. That continued for a few weeks, every evening a couple of episodes. Then someday I forgot to cover my eyes and I saw a vampire, but it didn't scare me so I was allowed to continue watching the show without the jacket.
Then we came to the season 2 episode 'Killed by Death' and Der Kindestod (btw that's german for "childs death") really scared me. (Btw that's the only Buffyverse episode that I ever got a nightmard from.) So I told my parents that it scared me, but that I'd promise that I wouldn't get a nightmare. I did. But I didn't tell them and all was well. 🙂 We continued and I watched the episodes that I hadn't seen before with one of my moms.
I became a huge fan and told some of my freinds about the show. Some of them I even told every single episode. So I watched one episode in the evening and the next day I told my friend what happened.
When I finished Btvs with my parents it became clear who of us was the real fan. I "borrowed" the box set all the time and rewatched the show over and over again. I also watched it with friends. (I don't know where in the timeline of that story exactly I have to put the " I watched the show with friends" part, because I did it all the time and I still do.)
My parents also told me about the spin off Angel. I wasn't a big fan of Angel (the character) when I finished watching Btvs, because I became a huge Spuffy fan. But I thought, more Buffy is always great. So I got the Angel dvd box set (season 1-5) for christmas, the next year. (I was 10) Me and my parents watched it and I fell in love with Fred. So at the age of 10 I was a Buffyverse (Btvs and Ats) fan. I also got a few books or so. And when I was 11 I became a "real" Buffyverse collector. Now I'm obsessed with both shows and everything Buffyverse related. (And collecting merch.)

So that's my story of how I discovered the Buffyverse 🙂. (or at least everything I can remember right now) I could talk a lot longer about how I showed my friends the shows than I did in this post 😉.

Because I love talking to fans who love the Buffyverse as much as me (obviously... why else would I have an account on BB?) And telling the story how we got to know and love the (Imo) greatest fandom of all times and hearing the story from other obssesed fans is interesting and so much fun. 😀

I was 13 when I first saw a teaser for Buffy, decided I would check it out (at that time I was addicted to the show Roswell - I worshipped that show and didn't think any other could compete, lol.) I watched the pilot episode of Buffy and didn't watch further - can't remember why - I think it was just the dark cinematography.

Then at 14 I watched The Gift and was completely hooked. I didn't watch in order though, I often missed episodes, but I've never stopped loving the show since then. I got DVDs of S7, then later all the seasons and caught up. I was the only one who watched it, no one in my family was interested and none of my friends watched it either, for some reason. Around college I watched episodes with my mom, she knew I loved the show - she ended up loving it too.

It's interesting to compare how I felt about it then, to now. It's mostly the same, but I appreciate the details and complexity so much more now. A lot of the nuances were lost on me, but I remember it became like this anchor in my life. I loved Buffy, Willow, Giles, Tara, the Scoobies in general. I loved the word play, the quips, the dialogue. I loved Spuffy, and Spike. I loved the early seasons too - though I hadn't watched it all in order.
Back then I just unreservedly loved every season and episode of Buffy - just because it was Buffy, lol. Now I have more definite favourites- but I still love it all.
