How to be a slayer in a nordic country?

Also prey is more likely to be togged up in heavy duty weather gear, making them harder to bite. In Sunnydale, everyone is in nice summer clothing with easy access to the neck.

They also have a hard time getting around since during the winter people don't travel a lot so a Vampire showing up even if they don't know that he a vamp will be keeping a eye on him which is deadly for a vamp.

Yeah, I challenge any Vampire to take a bite out of the throat of someone dressed like this......

And don't forgot the Vamp will be dressed like that too or else he stick out like crazy 😛

But it does make it easy to pick out the Vamps 😀

Cold blooded animals become hotter and colder, depending on the the temperature outside. For example, when the sun sets at night, their bodies are cooler because it is less warm outside. When the sun is out, however, their bodies soak up the heat and become warmer.

Vampires in indoors during the day like Spike and Angel in California are probably warmer then they are at night but still cold for a person, so when somebody touches them they go "Oh you're cold" but they aren't flinching "Your freezing" Vampires in cold places, could be exposed if a Slayer touched them indoors and they were ice cold, Joints are at risk for freezing, even more so without pumping blood, dead bodies freeze and clothes wouldn't warm them like for living people. So they couldn't spend all their time outside or they would freeze completely frozen and unmovable.

"People would be inside. Making spotting them outside roaming easier"

Yes, unless they want to freeze, they would be inside buildings, making tracking them harder (they probably also have a well tailored persona/disguise) but slaying them easier. Perhaps Slayer strength can also withstand low temps.

"More brazen means taking more risks, which means being noticed by the Slayer."

Yes, You don't feed as often but when you hunt, you need to make the kill when the opportunity presents itself ,which means more desperation. And probably a familiar, to do your bidding, be your eyes, like in Let The Right One In.

"Whether or not they would actually expel breath is up for debate, but that could be a telltale sign as well"

If Spike can puff smoke from his lungs, they can fake it, breathe in and exhale air from said lung and it becomes habit with practice.

"So while they could enjoy being out longer, there's less to eat, making it difficult to keep murders hidden"

They preserve or transport the bodies so it looks like a disappearance, maybe the target the ones who appear to be leaving or no one would look for.
The official authorities probably make a big deal about wild life attacks as well. (Not know how ethical that is but look at Sunnydale and their denial)

I think a vampire continually on the move and passing through small towns would make them even scarier and the stuff of fearful local legends.

I could see a vampire who created one new vampire and then moved on without them because this vampire in some remote region miles away wanted to stay and have their home town for themselves. Also they could maybe wrangle themselves into a official position like Major Wilkins.

"Now a place like St. Petersburg, Helsinki Finland, Stockholm, Montreal, with large population centers and long nights, would be perfect"

Yup, manicured roads, lots of yummy tourists, not to mention the night life, it'd be perfect, ha ha

Låt den rätte komma in is a great movie, though only the Swedes would turn the vampire mythology into a story about genitally mutilated children. Apparently, everything gets better with some dark social commentary. Dark social commentary and blonde helmet hair, that is Swedish cinema in a nutshell.
I'd personally imagine that vampires would have a hard time eating for a living in a cold country like Sweden or Canada. The sparse population would make it difficult to keep murders hidden. So while they could enjoy being out longer, there's less to eat. Now a place like St. Petersburg, Helsinki Finland, Stockholm, Montreal, with large population centers and long nights, would be perfect.
You could use the sparsity of the population to your advantage. You could wipe out a secluded farm or village and move on. Many places in Norway are inaccessible, surrounded by mountains, deep in a fjord. You could go from house to house and eat everyone.

I'm with @Taake on this one.

Yes, cool idea, that is like my post. Now I kind of have to ask, recommend any cinema show in particular related or unrelated?
@thrasherpix , please do. Some one already posted a still from 30 Days of night, a remote town in Alaska that experiences a month of darkness every year. I am reminded now of "Daybreakers" which asks the question: What if vampires became the dominant species? it’s a terrific question because vampirism is basically a virus, one designed to spread quickly, it’s not hard to fathom an entire planet become converted within the space of a year and then what? I remember it being good.

Recommend a Swedish movie? Most of them are horrible. It is kitchen sink drama without the comedy.

****ing Åmal is perhaps one of the greatest and funniest coming of age movies ever, though, and if you like Bill&Ted, you might wanna watch Det sjunde inseglet 😛

Damn, I forgot Kung Fury. The least Swedish movie ever made. 😛

I'll try to remember to do this. I'll want to review the chapters, but not tonight. I can share from other interesting vampire fiction as well, and ask for interesting concepts they've come across elsewhere. (I'll also try to find again the lore about why evil supernatural beings did not cast a reflection, something to do with silver, though this was actually faerie lore.)

Just...which forum would I post it in? Here in Inside Out, or in the Bronze? 😕 Anyone know?

I would assume the bronze.
@Puppet Yes, both the book and film are Swedish. Book was written by Jan Guillou, smug asshole extraordinaire.

Here's the thing... no one talks about it, but we all know it, teenagers are really soulless demons without a sense of cold. So while I, a sensible adult, may don this comforting outfit - a teenage girl will still be in a mini-skirt and a pleather jacket because she wants the hot guy to notice her. 😛

I'd rather be cold than wear that. I can't believe people cover their mouths with scarves. I'd rather freeze than suffocate on my own wet breath. Hoods are also horrible, because you have to turn your entire body before crossing the road.

My ex and I once went to Yellowknife in February to visit his brother and sister in law who had just had a child. At the time he had a moustache. We walked outside for a few minutes without those face mask touques and his moustache literally froze off. It was so cold that when it froze and he touched it with his hand it just snapped. Being from the south coast it was hysterically funny to us since we'd never been in the north before and had never experienced those temperatures

That is about as far north as I grew up, but Norway is mostly coast, so the temperatures are rarely extreme. I never go out with wet hair in winter, though, because as you say, it will literally freeze.

I've never heard of someone's hair snapping off before, though. That's insane.
