Help How to deal with Buffy-haters?

I have an idea: If they talk ish - slay em'.

No seriously stiffen up that upper lip, and keep it moving.

So here's my advice: Don't feed the trolls. Just brush it off and move on, no need to give attention to some ignorant person who is only trying to make you angry. Don't even try to explain to them why you like it, because their closed minds do not care.

Exactly... Very well said!

That happened at work the other day. I mentioned Buffy and my coworker was like 'thats a stupid show' I was like 😱 YOU DID NOT JUST SAY THAT!! Its hard when you love a show so much to hear people bash it.

arabella, I think that when it comes to Buffy, opinions don't exist. I simply don't see how you can dislike Buffy. And I know I'm being single-minded here, but it's true. Buffy's too awesome to not like.

Honestly. Come on now.

I'm going to tell you a story.

Once upon a time there was a little girl who made her grandmother buy her season 4 of Buffy the Vampire Slayer for Christmas. She had not seen any of the other seasons in their entirety. She became ridiculously obsessed with this show because she had to know...
A) Who the hell Faith was.
B) Who the hell Drusilla was.
and C) Where the hell that guy with the cheese came from.

Well, unfortunately C was left unanswered...however, she watched every season of Buffy (well, she thought she had...until she realized that season 6 was not the last season. She was quite relieved because that would have been an odd ending) and she knew that it was indeed, the most ridiculous show on the planet.

The moral of this story is, that if you can't accept the fact that Buffy is an ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS SHOW, then how can you find it amazing? I don't understand. It makes PERFECT sense that some people don't like Buffy, because it is so absolutely fantastic and marvelous and strange...that it requires brains to appreciate it!

And I don't know if you've noticed...but quite a few people on this planet, are
brainless. Congrats, you aren't part of the majority.

Seriously, I used to be embarrassed of the fact that Buffy was my favorite show (okay, the embarrassment lasted for about a day). People would roll their eyes or laugh but I soon realized that it's just not for everyone, and that's a-okay.

I can almost guarantee that they've never watch it, and that they're Twilight fans. Not to create another messed up debate around the Twilight and such fandoms, but this is usually the crowd that bushes Buffy, from experience. Don't worry, they don't know what they're missing. They're convinced that their shows (the ones that are super popular right now) are the best, because that's what everybody else likes. You're like a fish outside the water, because Buffy is not as popular, and it makes people ignore it's awesomeness.

(This is my opinion based on experience, I know what I'm saying here).

I beg to differ; not ALL Twilight fans hate Buffy and vice versa. I'm staying on topic, and not turning this into another stupid Buffy vs. Twilight debate, but generalizations like that only cause issues and bad vibes for people who are fans of both- like me. 😛 Like I said in your karma post, though; I do agree that most people who bash BtVS have never even attempted to watch it.

Don't take it so personally. People aren't always going to like what you love. Learn to be okay with that and accept their feedback as what it is, just an opinion. They have as much right to dislike it and voice their dislike as you do to like and voice your like. Walk away, get perspective, and move forward 🙂

Hear, hear. The world would be a very boring place if we all shared the same likes and dislikes...

People are allowed to have differing views, you know. 🙂 Don't take it so personally that someone doesn't like something that you do! I agree that Buffy is SUPER awesome, but I went through high school with the same issues you're having. The thing is, it's hard for people to take the show seriously, because it's about this little blonde girl fighting vampires and demons. People think it's going to be silly, but usually if they watch it they realize it actually works. Most people who bash it haven't seen it, and probably aren't going to see it because scifi isn't their thing. And that's ok....

I said that most chances are, not in all cases. I'm talking from experience here. I didn't say all Twilight fans hate Buffy. I said that in many cases (not all) people who hate Buffy love Twilight. I see that all the time. There was no meaning to bash Twilight fans here. It's just the stats.

90% of "stats" are made up ;)
Everyone is entitled to their opinion. You shouldn't be so connected to the show to the point where it makes you angry. Try to talk to them intelligently and maturely and if they don't want to watch the show...that's their choice. People who don't watch Buffy aren't bad people and quite frankly it's dumb to make them seem like bad people because they don't want to watch some TV show...
