How to delete a post?

I am new and needed help at something, I accidentially posted the same message twice and wanted to delete one of them but I failed. Can someone please help me?
 
Gotta love the irony of posting a thread on how to delete a message you posted twice only to post that thread twice too! 😀

You just need to ask one of the mods or admins to do it for you. They are pretty on the ball around here so they will no doubt notice anyway but to be sure you can always PM one of them.
 
Yeah we usually notice that stuff. If you're worried just PM whoever staff member is online 🙂 (Just like The Watcher said.)

I'll start with deleting the other thread 😀

That's right...only Admins and Mods are able to delete posts. To add to what Epo said, if you need something deleting just PM whichever staff member is online at the time - please don't PM all staff members, as that may lead to someone wasting time trying to delete something which a colleague has already done.
 
I don't understand the whole 'not being able to edit posts after 15 minutes' thing. Wouldn't it be easier for everyone (especially in the RPG and fan fiction area) if we could edit old posts whenever we want?
 
We have had lots of discussions about that (personally I am a huge fan of the edit button 😉 ), and even though most people can handle editing their posts, it can create lots of confusion in arguements etc if people can edit their old posts. It can make threads no sense etc.. If it's something important you can always ask a mod to edit your post.. But most of the time correcting your spelling etc might not be that important..
 
The entire staff had a discussion about it the last time there was a thread about this (which you can search for if you'd like), and they came to the decision that they wanted to increase the amount of time but still keep a limit. So the idea is that after 15 minutes you should have realized if you made a spelling error lol 😉
 
I just tried it out in another thread and you CAN delete your own posts... I think it's also within that 15min limit though... and also, you can't if someone else already has replied within the same thread, I think.
 
^I tried but all I got to have is an un-edited edited post. How did you manage to delete your post?
 
Press "edit"... the press the "go advanced" button... then... WTF... there is no delete button?!?! :s

How the hell did that just happen... I know I just succeeded doing it in another category...

Hmmm, well maybe somehow you can delete only from some categories... you'd really have to ask Buffy Summers...


EDIT: Okay, in this board... there is one... press "edit" and then press "delete"... simple as that... try it 🙂

BTW: The thread where I deleted my post from before, was the cheese-thread... so if you wanna try a succesful delete, go there.
 
You can only delete your posts for the first 15 minutes, same as editing. I *think* how it is is that you can delete your own threads but not your own posts.

But it's neither here not there - any mod can delete something if you need it to be.

Um, question...

Is the only instance in which Mods can delete posts when there's a double post or something of that caliber? For example, say that I don't like a fanfic that I've written, and if there are no replies to that topic, can mods delete it when they're asked to? Thanks, just wondering. 🙂
 
Yes, we can delete anything. Just pm a mod and ask them to delete it for you. Just tell them what thread it is or where the post is. 🙂
