Okay, I thought I'd start a second thread for ideas on how this should work (for example, what I had originally proposed which was to have everyone submit a script and then have the members vote on which to use).

The script idea is fine, except it excludes a great number of people who want to contribute. A lot of fans are unable/unwilling to devote the time and energy to putting together an actual, working script - some may rush to finish, not developing their ideas properly, and others may just give up in frustration. A lot of fans would like to contribute scenarios, ideas, key scenes, dialogue, story arcs spanning a few episodes, etc.. Remember that it takes several people and several months to put together scripts for the show - the writers work off of a framework put forth by the producers, then fill in the details, often on more than one episode at once.

Maybe an open forum for ideas, which are discussed and developed by members, and put through a sort of filter - the moderators? Give this about a two-three week time limit, maybe. The ideas would be collected and further discussed by the moderators, who would act as the producers of the season. Maybe a seperate thread for basic scenarios, one for more detailed ones, something like that.

Maybe individual members could also be asked to develop their own ideas or others' in conjunction with theirs further, into spec scripts (basic outlines), which other members could help dialogue and develop further?

Just some ideas. I honestly don't know anything concrete to suggest to get this baby off the ground. I will tell you this, I am all for it, I am absolutely sure I'm not the only one, and if all of us pull together and pool our resources, I think we can do it.

Or maybe we can have groups of maybe 10 people that make their own Season 8, or each gro up does the same episode but their version of it

That could work, but I think too many groups might cause problems. I think we should have one large, core group, assigned seperate duties. We need the mods to be all authoritarian and stuff.

I'd like to work on this, but I really don't have any ideas for story arcs. I'd like to be just a writer who writes scripts based on what the Josses tell me, and myabe write a few stand-alones.

I think Dariodevil's idea would make the most sense. Have separate forums where people can add whatever ideas they have. Cuz not everyone can write an entire episode.

I know that I can sometimes come up with this one great little scene, but when I try to think about what happened before that scene and what is gonna happen next I'm lost.

And some people cant come up with a good idea but when they hear an idea they get this sudden burst of how to make it better.

Doing it this way, though, there will have to be designated people to take all the ideas and put them together in the script form. After it's pulled together it should be posted so everyone can comment on ways to improve or something should change.

I agree with DarioDevil, but I'd replace mods, by experienced writers, because I don't know wether all the mods are into this, or wether they really know how to structurize this sort of thing!

Hmmm i've been mulling over all the ideas presented and trying to think what would be best.

I like Dario's idea of having a forum for ideas, perhaps in that forum we could have threads where people can propose things for the episode, ie, the story arc, bad guys, characters involved eg. And those that get the most votes get written into the episode.

We could have a conclave of writers who are responsible for writing the episodes, and you dont have to be a mod or anything to do this, just someone who can and wants to do it.

However I disagree with Allycat, I feel there should be some moderator presance to ensure the organisation and structure remains in place, however the mod/admin will work with the others.

This would benefit all I think as some people are better at coming up with ideas and storylines than they are at actually scripting it. This way each has a way to take part.

I ment mods and experienced writers (not me) working together to structurize it.

I took that to mean what it says, my bad but at least its cleared up.

Ok so i have a thought for u why dont u let the people who want to write for this season submit send email a script to whoever is organizing this and then a few people who are the heads of this pick the best scripts out like about 8/9 or however much u want and then go work on the season 8 with the best writers of the board. so here is it short, submit send a script andpick the best ones out maybe something like that? because if u have 30 people who wanne all write that would take a while lol but anyway just a idea

So where are we on this?

To summarise my thoughts, to have everyone involved who wants to be, we split it up. Firstly a group who are dedicated to coming up with plot ideas, perhaps another for character development, and what we want them to achieve and then once we have the propsed character advancement for the episode, and the plot lines creeping into it, it then goes over to the writers to make up the final episode.

Thoughts?

Sarah - We are currently having discussions on how to structure it, and to run it. This has to be established before we decide what characters to put into it.

Just a note, when the writers finish the script maybe it should be put towards everybody and we can discuss any lines we may want to 'tweak'. On tv shows lines and stuff are being changed even while filming. BuffytVS has a great amount of emotion and humour and some people mite be able to think of a better line to replace another or even a line to add. I know that I watch Buffy sometimes and think "he/she should of said..."

Another idea, maybe for each ep we could get some GFX people to do a preview still from the episode.

i think these ideas sound great, are there going to be people who are like editors who go over the scripts and make changes and stuff? if there are i'd like to do that. is the writing already started? where do you sign up to be involved?
