How tough is the First, Really?

There's this tendency to see the First as this all-seeing, all-knowing force--kind of an inversion of God.

I'm not sure this applies.

The first doesn't seem to know what's happening unless his non-corporeal form or a confederate is within proximity of the event.

When Spike is mumbling to himself "She will come for me" the first-vision has to move physically closer to know what Spike is saying.

The first seems to be unaware Andrew is plotting against it in First Date.

The First seems to have some gaps in It's knowledge as regards summoning the Turok Han from beneath the Seal of Danthazar. It tries sacrificing Jonathan, then a pig when that doesn't work.

This all makes the First look a little more vulnerable than we first thought.

Good points, I've also been wondering why everyone was so freaked out on the last episode (First Date) whenthe First was in the house. It's not like it could HURT Andrew. OK, sure, if I saw a ghost it would freak me out, but maybe not so much if I faced vampires and demons and other coporeal things. A ghost would be the least of my worries.

Because one eyeball was ready to pop and half the face was melted? 😛

I guess the ghost thing is a little scarier because the First always manifests as someone you actually know and usually someone you've had a profound relationship with. I think in that respect, it's probably scarier.

Indeed the First has no powers, vamps and demons can do you more damage, it only has a big mouth and is inmortal. But with its big mouth it persuades people into bringing out their worse and with it inmense persuasive powers it seems to control an army of Bringers and a lot of demons seem to be eager to help it, and therefore it is more powerful then anything else!

Do you think Sadam Houssein is scared of George Bush, because he can beat him up ... no, because he has troops, because people belief in him, because he has power!

so technically, if there is a god, you expect it to know every single detail of every single person in every single place in the world????

interesting

Not me. My sunday school teacher.

Surely you're not suggesting she would lie... Come to think of it, she did sell Amway.
