How was your day - Part 4

I'm in Poland for a wedding. Very pleased with how cheap everything is. Getting change from £5 when ordering food and a couple of beers is crazy. The first day of a 2 part wedding starts this evening and I've got no idea what to expect.

I love how casual you are about being in a different country. Enjoy the wedding!

I didnt go driving today, had some sciatica but it feels tons better after a quiet day.

Its cold and dark and good bunny snuggling weather. Anya has been a little miss, very demanding of cuddles. Xander had been on pain meds the last few days and he doesn't groom her as much when he is out of it lol. He's better today, I am so happy with how well he looks. I did some training with him this arvo, he still needs to build up some muscle to be strong like Anya. His fur has all come back real soft since the dog bites, his muscles are a slower process as I've also had to figure out how to get enough protein into him without giving him the shits and without his front teeth. We still have issues with his sore eye and mutant tooth, but after a few early trips to the vet with no solution, I think I will just manage it myself. My vet can't believe he isn't dead and is really good about giving whichever meds I require for him without having to take him in. He is definitely in better shape now than when I brought him home but its slow going. I think its close to one year with him now! He's my old man boy, about 5 years old. My Anya is a 3 year old, not a baby anymore, I should get serious about her jump training, but Xander SO wants to join in and he's not ready. They dont travel well, so we will never compete but Anya loves the games. She is currently trying to open the kitchen door - which tells me she is not feeling challenged enough! (I got up to shut the door, she didnt want to go in the kitchen, it was too cold in there, so shes back in the lounge sprawled out on a blanket under the heater. Shes not so smart about closing doors.)

NEVER let a bunny learn cheeky things, they NEVER unlearn it! Xander doesnt know all the norty tricks... yet. He learned what "nomnoms" means pretty quickly though!

good luck to you and yer bunny!
I got through the midsummer celebrations with only minor bruises, a headache and being kind of tired... but then I was tired to start with. So all in all, I'm pleased as can be. Also, only one more week of work, then vacaaaation (kind of. I mean. Some work from home. But not being at the office yaaaay!)

There's a team on Vodka watch.

Saturday was...bittersweet, to say the least.

It started off great; I slept in and then headed over to my mom's to drive down to my sister's. We hung out at their house for a few hours (meaning time I spent with my niece) and then we all walked over to this community building in the small town to celebrate this Danish event called St. Hans Night. Google it if you're curious, but it's a yearly tradition here in Denmark. We gather around a bonfire once night falls and roast buns and marshmallows.

Anyway, it was a great night. My stepsister was there with her two kids and I was basically in charge of keeping an eye on the three munchkins (almost 2, 2, and 4 respectively) we had a lot of fun, playing with footballs and hula hoops and roasting marshmallows until it started to get dark. The kids were up later than they've been their whole lives. I got in my mom's car and we drove for home.

Here's the other side of the coin; my mom had tried to reach my grandma 3 times that day and she always picks up the phone. So we drove by her house to check on her on the way home. Just as a precaution. Mom has a key so she went inside while my stepdad and I waited in the car. Minutes passed, I got worried, so I went inside. My grandma was on the toilet and had been sitting there for 8 HOURS! She had sat down and then been unable to get up. Her legs were swollen, she was completely dehydrated and she'd been hallucinating for hours.

My mom called for an ambulance but it took like half an hour for it to arrive, a time during which I spent freaking out. I tried to keep busy; I fed the cat, helped my mom pack a few bags for my grandma to take with her to the hospital, but mostly I just felt dizzy and full of worried emotions. She was so weak and frail and I couldn't even look at her, afraid I'd just burst into tears.

A few hours later, on my couch unable to go to sleep, I got a text from my mom, who had driven to the hospital after dropping me off. After some xrays, it was clear that my grandma was not doing well. I've been worried for years now, with her in and out of the hospital, but now it seems clear that I won't get to have her here for much longer. It just...sucks.

So there you go; a day of great and bad on equal terms...

Currently sitting in my back garden drinking ice cold beer in 29c heat, watching my man work up a sweat mowing the grass. Sometimes life is quiet and I like that.

The rain has Well and truly set in this morning! I sleep SO well when the rain hits the tin roof, lovely, I dunno why modern families hate them. Top of 13C, and it looks like a housework day (which means a laptop day haha). I already have the washing on and half the dishwasher packed. I have been out so much I have neglected the house a bit, but it wont take long to catch up. The bunnies have morning freedom, run of the house until they tire themselves out and fall asleep under the couch so I can vacuum.

I love the view out my front window, when I sit, I can just see the top of the gum trees and sky, its amazing. I heard rumours that they are going to re-develop that site across the street so I hope they dont chop the trees down! We have MAJOR issues with salinity where I am. My soil is looking amazing right now though - the rain makes digging so much fun! But its also why I have 3 loads of washing to do today...

It was! I left my phone inside too. Do you get more rain now than you did at your shed?
Meant to post this the other day. Dream house #15 ♥

My step-uncle who lives next door is in hospital again....he's actually rather near death; the doctor told my step-dad that its just a matter of making his brother's final days as comfortable as possible. (Yes, my step-dad can be a dick, but I feel a bit sad for him) I'd been going over changing step-uncle's IV three times a week...the other days, a registered nurse does it. He's had round-the-clock care since the first time he was released from hospital. It's REALLY expensive, that's why I help out...well, that and the fact that I get paid to do it. (My step-dad pays me 1/3 of what a registered nurse costs, so we both benefit)

Bought a new purse and blueberry lip balm earlier. And ice cream. 😆

All i can say i should stop getting drunk day before the exam. That's just... no. But man I love Moscow. All the football fans! Love you all! And vodka with gin!

Get drunk AFTER the exam. 😆
The aussies were already making excuses for our poor performance last week. We suck at soccer lol.

Sorry to hear of your families health issues @Puppet and @Amber Bunny Slippers

I am failing at cooking today. Cleaning the kitchen is an invite to cook. My lunch was revolting, next I tried to bake biscuits and they have all lost shape and melted into each other. I knew the batter was wrong but it taste ok (Or in masterchef words - "the flavours are there"). I dont like being stuck inside. It will be dark in an hour so not much point starting anything outside now that the rain has passed. I am not sure if I will have work for the rest of the week. The drive is a bit much so I wont mind if I dont. I have plenty to do in the garden, its so fun in the mud!

I cycled 7 miles this morning, just at home though. It is ridiculously hot and no temperature to be cycling in.

I do not want to start getting fat, but will I hell be sacrificing any food I like, so 7 mile cycles it is. Wooo...

@Bluebird
Do you get more rain now than you did at your shed?

Nah, the rainfall was about 100mm more at the shed, I am much further from the coast now. When we get rain here it comes down hard and floods, but the water is very quick to run off down the roads haha. It stuck around where I was before, in winter lakes and creeks, it was fun for mud puddle sliding but very smelly and when summer hit the bugs were mental. I thought the flies would be worse in the "outback" but they're not as bad as Perth! Different aromas too - it smells like oats and eucalypt when it rains here.

I love the town newsletter, they have winter weather warnings in it, tornados, flash flooding, hail, icy roads, and gale force winds. Its brilliant! Ive already had a mini tornado through which pulled up plants and drainpipes, it came through before the first rain and the sky was apocalyptic orange. Some farmers lost their crop because they had only just put seed in when the wind ripped them all up. On the other hand - I have never lived in a place as still as gets here at night and a mist settles over the town. Its going to be cold tonight, the mist rolled in just after 3pm. I should have started the fire because we'll probably get frost, which is right on my level when I am on the floor. I am slowly finding all the gaps to fill in and raising the garden beds. I hope my baby seedlings are strong enough to survive it!

Crap.

My *expletive* neighbour has cut down the last massive pine tree that was in the shared area and it's really made me down. There was generations of birds living in that tree, and it was beautiful to look at. I went round the back to ask what was going on and he describes the tree as an eyesore that was blocking his light. A tree is an eyesore? So looking at concrete is better than looking at a tree?

Is it me that's going mad or...? Let's pave over everything green because it's so ugly.

Aww man :( I hope summer bites him
@HoppyHippy Aww man 🙁 I hope summer bites him

I hope he dies slowly and painfully. One day humans will understand they are a part of the world, an animal species that must live in it, not apart from it. Bring on human extinction please, it's a few centuries too late.

The earth will get its revenge 😀 It'll be here long after us. Maybe he'll turn out like this guy when he realises the mistake he made of removing shade during summer -
British farmer freaks out about 15C weather

I'd draw a tree on the concrete. With extra eyesore-ish flowers and maybe hang out there with a kangaroo umbrella feeding the birdies who lost their home.

That song is a blast from the past @nightshade, how many generations have to beg those above us to stop the rape and pillage of the earth? My neighbour mentioned the other day the reason we have robots in Mars is to mine it - I had been blinded by the feat, but now I see what it was truly for. If there are aliens out there, they will destroy us before we spread our disease.

Yes! Save the planet? You mean save the human race? Nah not up for that, and the planet will recover after we've left, so to save the planet we would have to die off. We cull animals when they're destroying the local environment, but no one would dare compare us to animals destroying the environment, because we're above the animals.

I have a piece of land next to the tree he cut down. I will cover the whole area in bushes and trees. Give him more sore eyes!
