How was your day today?

No hangover! Yay. A good day hah. I think Im in my midlife crisis era. I just brought a body protector for horseriding. I am delighted that it fits. Now all I need is a horse.... And possibly some new boots.

I used my old riding boots when I went out visit the race horse yesterday and they feel about two sizes too small. I admit Im surprised they are still usable at all, being almost a decade old now. But the Ariats in general are too slim for me. I need fatty foot boots now.

The poodle has a graze under her chin/neck. I think rubbing from her ill fitting raincoat. Today she scratched the scab off. She is sooo sooky about it. Shes acting like she did after major surgery. For a little graze. So Im am sort of concerned how disproportionate her reaction to it is, but she does take after me, after all.

I had to hand feed her dinner on the couch, and if I leave her for a second shes climbing up me, trying to be cuddled and carried every second of the afternoon. Shes been jumping into my bed when the timer for the heater comes on in the morning and its made her more clingy.

Now I have a genuine excuse to look at online horse shops - they sell proper waterproof dog rugs.

Took poodle to vet. Poor poodle. Need extra arms to cuddle the other Blonde dog cos she has been so lovely and caring showing great concern for poodle and not being bossy about lap time at all.

Went walkies up at the lookout after. They have a new small treetop type walk. I did not like it. Too high. The view from the main lookout was better. Its such a beautiful time of year with all the shades of green. Could almost see the sea but not quite.

Yesterday evening, the two girls next door called security (again) because they could smell my cigarette smoke. Security showed up, but didn't bother me at all. In fact, the guy was obviously SICK of them calling so much, so he told them, "This is NOT a security issue. Please stop wasting our time with personal disputes. Shut your windows if something is bothering you." My music wasn't on, so I could hear every single word. 😅😅

But instead of shutting their windows they "defiantly" opened ALL of them. And left them open all night. Man, this isn't the kind of neighbourhood where you sleep with your windows open! I told security that if a home invasion occurs over there and I hear screaming and/or gunshots, I will ignore it completely. And no, I'm not kidding. These girls need to get the hell out. Period.

I went to the art museum today with a friend. There was an old man having his photo taken in front of a painting, then he talked a little, and bapped the painting with his hand while doing it. We gasped a bit, and someone said, "That's the artist!" Probably still shouldn't bap the painting, but I guess if you make it to 103, you do what you want! I was too shy to talk to him, but I like his paintings. Gaylen Hansen is his name, though I don't know how famous he is outside the Pacific NW.

I had a call with my dad later and talked about his army days. Hard to believe my mild, quiet 90-yo dad was once a paratrooper! Luckily, this was in the late '50s, so no one was shooting at him on the way down!

I think someone here mentioned for me to try blue light glasses. Yesterday I saw some in kmart, and the do make a difference! I've only had them one day so Im not sure how much difference yet, but certainly soothing the moment I put them on. So thanks to whoever mentioned that! 😀

I am usually wiped out the day after driving, so I planned nothing today but did get a lot of house and garden work done before the rain tonight. Its been a really lovely day. Winter is magical.

Friday was the usual dance at Lakefront Promenade with 250 to 300 people attending. The night was spectacular with the full moon out over Lake Ontario and a 200-watt amplifier providing the sound. View to the west:

The dance floor is triangular and not really all that large, but we never expected to get that many people. During the cold part of the year, we may get a couple of dozen hardy souls but this was an excellent night with reasonably warm temperatures (once you start dancing) and clear skies. The pictures were taken from a hill to the south of the floor. The pergola in the first picture has two rows of benches suitable for jackets, food, drink and the all-important power outlet the amplifier uses, fed through a long extension cord. The night started off with a free bachata lesson from Maria Hazelyn and even the rookies became quite comfortable with how to dance. A great night for everyone.

I suddenly pictured vampires attacking 😄
Today's my mom's birthday....and the nursing facility had a little party for her. (My stepdad emailed me last week to invite me) I'd already decided not to go because it hurts too much.

Right now I'm waiting for a new episode of House of the Dragon. Five more minutes! 🔥

Feel like Im living at the vet this week! Xander had a go yesterday. They are all in awe that he is so old, but this is a country vet and the vet we had told me she accidentally has 14 rabbits now cos she couldn't tell the difference between girl bunnies and boy bunnies so now has many bunnies. I didnt tell her Xanders arthritis in his hips is from humping Anya, despite having no balls. He has an ulcer on his tongue and I have to syringe feed him til it heals.

Im LOVING the cold. Its quite naughty, I said to myself that I wouldn't let myself enjoy the cold too much or I will regret it and suffer in summer... But I just love the cold air on my bare skin. Its so refreshing and lovely and one of the true joys of life. I like being able to feel my skin again, I just couldn't feel it at all for 14 years on SSRIs. But I am already dreading summer and its ruining my enjoyment of cold because I worry I will make my intolerance to heat worse.

Picked up the truck. Yes, it's running amd sounds great. For the moment. When I picked it up, I felt a surge of affection for it. But it HAS to be sold as soon as possible...while it's still running, of course! Mechanic says it needs a new engine. 🙄 What?!!! Screw that. He must be out of his mind.

Aww it will be sad to sell but probably cheaper!
Xander is doing much better today. Ate all of his second breakfast all on his own, I didn't have to place pellets in his mouth, he can pick them up again on his own. YAY! What a clever old man bun.

Im going to wash the blonde stinky dog today. She was panting on her walk yesterday so maybe needs another clip.

Now my breakfast is ready... After 11 am

I think if breakfast is after 11AM, that technically makes it brunch!
I did not wash stinky dog so I am stuck with her stink for another night. I went out to visit the horses and accidentally stayed out there all afternoon. My arms got tired before the big racehorse got tired of scratches.

The babies are most cheeky. The colt who likes butt scratches managed to nip my arm while I wasnt paying attention. Hes so tiny and sweet, hes the last one I would expect to use teeth! Just a love bite on my clothes, but Oh so cheeky and naughty. They are all getting a bit like that now, ready to use their brains or they will find mischief as entertainment. One of them snapped the fence while I was there.

Story of my life - fixing fences for eternity.

Did they say what is specifically wrong with it? Other than "it needs a new engine"?

We went back to the Lakefront Promenade last night but until abut 9 PM, our usual dance spot was taken up by a celebration by some people from India, one of the disadvantages of using a public space as a venue. Once they left, we had over 300 people on the triangular dance floor (pictures above from last week) and a number of us chose to dance under the pergola at the top of the stairs part of the time. We always had to take care of not bumping into other people and for the most part, we succeeded except for a few times.

No vampire attacks occurred but there is a rumour that some of the people have never been seen in sunlight. I will keep you posted on vampire attacks. If someone suddenly appears to be much stronger, I will make my getaway.

He said that oil was leaking inside the engine. But he said NOTHING about the distributor/cap/rotor probably because he thought my stepdad would pay for a new engine. Which I'd never allow, because the truck just isn't worth it. Mechanic got money hungry....screw him.

Xander is doing much better again today. He can eat his greens on his own now. I have stopped the critical care cos he seemed to get quite a bit of food into himself today. I am so pleased. Still a few more days of antibiotics to go.

Went for a big walk around the horse area today. Took lots of photos haha. Was all inspired by the Olympic eventing that I moved some tyres and logs and made some little jumps. Then got rained on and walked home.

My neighbour dropped round a cabbage from his garden for me and my dog tried to nick it. We had a nice cuppa tea. Then watched the showjumping tonight on tv. Been a good day.

Your dog probably thought the cabbage was a ball. He'd be sorry with the first bite!
Two more days of work and then vacation. Can’t wait.

Also, I ordered a new raincoat from RainSisters and just got a shipping notification! It is coming! Again can’t wait. And can’t wait for it to rain once it does

Oh I saw those online, so pretty but sadly the reviews for when they are used in rain weren't good.
