Went to the coast today. It was clear when I left home and bucketing down there. Met a friends baby. She was told by doctors that she was having a girl next week. She had a boy 5 weeks ago. He is tiny and was fascinated by the mask on my face. Just stared at it haha. Its amazing how focused they can be so young.

Got subway for lunch and watched the rain come in over the bay. Dropped in the shop halfway home for bunny food. Saw a bunch of people from the congregation who hadnt been at the meeting but were still dressed up from being on zoom, so that made me feel less like I was standing out all fancy in the shops. 😅

Checked my receipts when I got in and I was under charged for the subway and over charged at IGA so I guess that worked itself out cosmically. Reading articles now that we're having the worst flu season ever and now I am nervous about eating the leftover subway cos the chick who made it was sweaty and sniffly. Need to get new masks, I thought the price would come down by now, but its gone up! 3 for $15 at iga, so i did not buy them when I know the post office sold me my last box at $5 for 10.

Got some bean seedlings from the shop and planted them all out already. I dont have great soil, but I know I will forget the seedlings if I didnt put them out straight away. Its raining, so if I forget them now, they should be ok! Dogs look SO cute in their rain jackets and got a good play in the yard while I did gardening. No walkies today.
 
I decided that the first draft of my Buffy continuation story needed a major reconstruction; made a start with some changes. Also did a zoom call with a group that I am socially connected with. We only physically meet up now and again, but we do most of our conversing over zoom. Plus started going through the Marvel films. First movie of the day: Captain America.
 
All of my pets are playful today! I am going to have to throw out some of the dogs toys. There is so much stuffing floating around my house now, its quite ridiculous. Harmony is bouncing from the dog bed to the footstool to the couch to the chaste. I never would have imagined this fat hairy dog to be so athletic! Haha

So cleaning is on the agenda today. Im going to try a coffee kick start! Also need to try and clear some memory on my laptop. Its almost impossible to watch anything on tv lately.
 
The magpies and crows (ravens?) Now have a common enemy. A hawk has been flying around today. It was checking out my dogs earlier, but its too small a bird to fly off with one of them. I heard a commotion outside, a pink and grey galah flying around like a lunatic screaming its head off. The magpies were dive bombing my tree. And then the crows came and started to hassel the tree.

The poor little hawk thing is being ganged up on. I have no idea what type it is, I have seen its sort around before when I had ducks, but this is the first time I have seen it this year. The magpies didnt even bother to swoop me when I went out to see. They were too concerned with the bird in the tree. Poor thing is gona get bashed as soon as it leaves the safety of those branches!

Deciding to split my story into two parts. Sweltering in the heat. Plotting the second part of my story. Sweltering in the heat. Oh, and, yes. Sweltering in the heat.
 
I gotta cut my hair tomorrow. Its far too heavy again. I have been trimming the dogs today as well, just little bits. I cant do too much cos my hands spasm up and i nicked Lilah's leg with the electric trimmer a while back so she is so wary now. Poor poodle. Harmonys hair is so thick and golden, the clippers really have a hard time getting through her hair. She looks a mess right now, I didnt want to push either of us. I can finish her off in bits and pieces over the next few days. May have to seriously consider getting horse clippers for Harmony, but even then I think she has thicker hair than most horses! Lilah has light fairy floss fluff that trims off so easily once brushed. Could not be more opposite dogs! Well, except if Harm was a boy.

Big coffee crash today so basically I sat on my fat butt and ate sushi and watched below deck with minimal weeding breaks in the garden.
 
Slept so good last night that I woke up in a WONDERFUL mood. I stayed home and baked sugar cookies. I didn't want to ruin
my good mood by going out in public. Too many people out there!! 😅 Maybe I should wear a burka next time. Now, that's an outfit PERFECT for privacy

Listened to a lot of David Bowie, Rush, Elton John, Pink Floyd, and Nina Hagen. That's right, no death metal today. Just didn't feel like it. I'm going to cling to this good mood like a lifeboat. 😁

There must be something wrong with me. I'm eating a tuna sandwich with a salad and drinking a glass of milk!! Plus, I only smoked a few cigarettes. 😳

I dont think i should have eaten that last bit of sushi from the fridge 🤢 felt stomach ache very soon after. Uhoh. I have an appointment this arvo!

A lady stopped me at the post office yesterday and said wow you have lost a LOT of weight and asked if i had been dieting. Ha. NEVER! I have actually been eating more, not less, this entire year. Maybe it's speeding up my metabolism? I've put a few kilos back on eating so much rice and chips in the last week, but once I get back into the grocery delivery routine rather than driving to the shop with appointments so often I will get back to nicer, fresher food.

Sposed to be going to a bonfire tomorrow night, so I am conserving my energy and hope I can go. I usually miss out on stuff like that and its the sort of party I like because its outdoors and watching the fire is so relaxing.

My mum had our front garden dug up and replaced with brick. Ants have been invading our house ever since. My mum said there were a dozen crawling around the kitchen late last night.

The ants are not happy we minced their home.

End of lessons and college so now I have the whole summer with nothing to do.

I wonder how quickly I will get bored.

Good day today. I wasnt sure how I would wake up after the bonfire, but by the time the meeting finished, I was feeling much better. Took dog walkies, cleaned a lot and did some whippersnipping and weeding in the garden. It was a beautiful day for working.

Went walkies again at dusk and it was stunning! The air was so cool and still, most beautiful sunset, orange, pink and purple. It all looked unreal with that little bit of smoke in the air. Was a lovely walk!

Then made tuna, egg ans avo sushi for dinner and milo with marshmallows for desert. Perfect sunday!
 
Trying to decide between much cheaper stay in Pittsburgh or finally going to NYC...and driving my GF krazy in the process.
Had pretty much decided on cheaper 'burgh, but then my bestie sent me text raving about NYC (he's been few times)
So now I'm all indecisive again... 😳

I had the opportunity to move to Pittsburgh on an H1-B visa back around 2000 and it seemed to be a more liveable city than New York. I would hate to have to drive around New York and on my many (~200) business trips I have made in my life, NYC was the only place I didn't rent a car because the traffic snarl is too much - I had to walk a mile each way from where I was staying to where I was going every day and that was preferable. Unless you are wealthy, accommodation in NYC is borderline third world. Pittsburgh is a lot cheaper. Your bestie either has Rothschild-type money or doesn't mind living in a dump.

If you intend to make your living on Broadway, NYC is the logical choice. For any other profession, it is not.

Actually with the rise of airbnb & places like Sonder (kind of cross between hotel & airbnb), it's a little bit cheaper
However, there's still airfare & other expenses...
 
Past several weeks I guess since I have been here have been health related. Stomach bug, relapse, allergies. Today a good day, cool and cloudy, which I prefer to extreme heat days and higher than mid to high 70s days.
