I'm pretty happy because I received $250 out of the blue. And to think, a couple of days ago I was so broke I couldn't afford a pack of cigarettes! I was checking my PayPal balance, praying that there was at least $5 in there....and there was $250. 😳My mind couldn't grasp it at first. I just stared at the screen for a bit. Like, holy crap! Where did THIS come from?! And what can I spend it on? Haha.

That's the second time in a month something like this has happened. Out of the blue. There's almost nothing nicer than unexpected money. Its almost gone because I SUCK at managing finances, and I'm super impulsive. Self-control is not one of my strong suits.🥳 First thing I bought was a package of iced cinnamon rolls. There was 12 in the pack.

Are you still young enough to go backpacking? The backpackers have come back to Australia now. They changed the work visas so its easier I think, not as strict on the rural work placement. If you save enough money, the part time work gets ya through for a year, especially in share accommodations. It looks super fun if you're confident to travel on your own. Very safe in Australia too 😉

We used to have new ladies from the UK every few months to work in the pub and shop (accommodation included) but havent seen any for a while. Defo need a drivers licence for those sorts of accommodations though. There was a girl from Spain in the pub just as covid hit and she struggled with the isolation until she got a car. And then had to go home anyway when the borders shut!

If I wasn't so sick I would absolutely move to somewhere in south east Asia. Looks like a dream! Cheap food too 😀 I can see why so many pension age men move there for a wife, can live like a king on aussie dollars! I wonder if there is an equal market for husbands....

One thing to remember is health care. Somewhere like the US that does not have something like the NHS can make health care a seriously expensive problem, if you have to pay for it yourself.

Its true for some things, but it depends what. My tangent isnt directed at you but Im in a spin tonight over a "health" care thing.


One of my friends went to Canada on a working holiday and got some kind of funky vag infection. It was cheaper for her to go to the US to buy medication than it was to get treatment in Canada.

Places like Bali dont even require you to get prescriptions for antibiotics or steroids, they can be purchased at a chemist.

The lady from my town who moved to Uganda, came back to Australia for her radiotherapy breast cancer treatment but all the rest is cheaper for her to get in Uganda. One of the men I know in Thailand (who is disabled) travels to the US for his surgeries because thats the cheapest place he can get that specific thing done. Heaps of people in Australia go to Thailand for dental.

I used to teach disabled kids who went to the US for disability and cancer treatments that they simply dont offer in Australia. It cost less because the US has specific treatment centres which are far cheaper when they specialise in that specific thing. Some kids were told they would never walk (in Australia) but then after 6 week intensives in the US can walk and play sports. For cheaper than the cost of a wheelchair. (Pre NDIS)

If a backpacker or tourist gets injured in Australia they are not covered by Medicare (NHS equivalent) because they are not a citizen. Thats what travel insurance is for. Similarly some people with diagnosed medical conditions and disabilities are not permitted visas if they pose too high a cost risk to the system.

I slept for 11 hours last night, just woke up about two hours ago. For someone with chronic insomnia, that sleep was a gift from the gods!! I'm just sitting here in my nightgown, REALLY needing a shower. I've got warm socks on, but one has a tear in it. My big toe is sticking out of it. My hair is uncombed and oh my God I look awful. 😅


I thought I was the only one who did this.

Woke up in a bad mood, the clouds and light sprinkles or rain have cheered me up somewhat. I got really stuck into a messy corner of the garden and was so pleased with it.

But I had left my dogs secure in the front yard, and the methhead morons across the road have another new staffy dog that they cant contain. So two big unrestrained staffies attacked my tiny dogs through the front fence again. Luckily its a solid wire fence, so no injuries, but my poodle is such a sensitive soul, she does not forget things like that.

Now those two dogs are still roaming up the street. I dont even want to go out to check my neighbour or bring the bin in because these dogs are obviously wound up and looking for a fight.

My mum sent me a video of them on the island that Survivor is filmed on, so thats pretty great way to start the day!

Also, it rained in the night and it just makes everything look so green again in my garden 😀

@Stake fodder are you recovering from covid ok? I just ran some DVDs over to my neighbour. I dont have much that would interest an old man, but hes a horse dude so I included My friend Flicka and Pharlap the movie 🤣 still looks in a sick way 🙁

When does Dune 2 come out? Im thinking that might be worth seeing in the cinema, does anyone know?

Another great time at Miss Bachata last night. I met a few new women and reconnected with some I had danced with previously. If I had to pick only on venue out of the eight I had been to for dancing, this would be it. The lesson from 7 to 8 PM is great. It covers the basics and I find it gives you the clues to make dancing seem more artistic and less robotic. The instructor goes into stance and frame because he considers this more important than specific moves.

Feeling really good this morning. The last few nights I've been getting LOTS of sleep and it really makes a difference! I'm so used to dreading bedtime, because l'd just lay there for hours, wide awake. I'd feel lucky if I managed to doze off for an hour or two! But recently I've been going to bed and actually sleeping....like normal people. Really, really makes a difference in my mental health. A good night of "natural" sleep is so much more effective than NyQuil or valium. 😊 Of course, Valium can be a lot more fun than sleeping! And NyQuil USED to be fun...back when the alcohol content was 25%. In middle school, we used to swig that stuff when we couldn't find an adult to buy us real alcohol. 🥳

Aw man I was so close to going to see it today but a migraine came on really suddenly! I thought if I got down there for a day time session I could avoid the school kids haha. No luck boo.

I think my rabbit Xander knows when I am about to get a migraine, he tried to tell me yesterday but I didn't click. As usual lol. Today he is sore too, so maybe its an air pressure thing or something like that because he needed the pain meds before I did. The dogs are also aware, and have been excellent to both me and Xander. I took him out on the grass and the dogs were sooo good around him, didnt hassle him at all and let us get some vitamin D in peace. Anya licked it all off Xander when we got back inside haha.

My arvo will be filled with MAFS and naps. I have to undo some knitting to use the yarn for a crochet project.
