How Was Your Day?

Today will be a slow day. If the clouds stick around I can do some yard work. If not, I'll do some housework.

Mondays are hard, I miss going to work. Its difficult to know if I am better or worse now. I feel better but everything about me screams worse... Fat and boring haha.

Time for another cuppa tea.
 
Just checked out the weather forecast for tomorrow and it's supposed to be hotter. Uh oh. This is definitely earthquake weather. I don't care what certain scientists say...there IS such a thing as earthquake weather. And I absolutely believe that earthquakes trigger one another. Especially here, in the ring of fire. Tomorrow is also the eclipse. We'll see what happens. There's a really weird energy floating about. Either way, I'm fully stocked with emergency supplies....wait, I forgot water! Will get some tomorrow morning.

But remember... I said a quake is heading this way. Soon. I can feel it. 😳

I like the theories about planets and space weather affecting earth quakes too. It so interesting! I hate when "science" decides they know ALL the answers and we cant ever ask any more or explore new ideas.
Went DVD shopping today and ended up with about 20 movies (and Game of Thrones season 2) for $100. Well worth it. They had some great picks that I hadn’t seen before, like Tourist Trap or a two disc The Mist that included the black and white version. Unfortunately no Bone Tomahawk, which is what I went there to get 🙁 maybe next time!

Also got my books in at my local bookstore. Now Shōgun and the new Star Wars book are on my shelves. 🙂

Some other really great stuff happened today but I’d rather not say more. Just watching The Fog and enjoying the rest of my night before I go to bed. 🙂

There are tides in the atmosphere as well as ocean tides and there is also the change in speed of the earth's rotation around the sun during the new moon (which is part of every solar eclipse). A lot of animals sense impending quakes and there would be a greater susceptibility to an earthquake during an eclipse. Expect the jetstream to increase in speed.

Earthquakes do trigger one another. In fact, the modern earthquake cycle started in 1936 and accelerated with the Alaska earthquake of 1957. Each time the tectonic plates move, they cause a slight change in the location of the central axis of the earth but even though the movement is on the order of millimetres, the enormous mass of the earth makes sure that forces are generated that propagate further earthquakes.

The last significant earthquakes here in LA were in 2019. And holy crap, they were memorable. July 4th there was a 6.4 which REALLY caught our attention. But the very next day, a 7.1 hit us at night...it was like the end of the world. I was watching KCAL News at 8pm and ironically, they were reporting on the 6.4 from the day before. 😄 That 7.1 caught EVERYONE by surprise, and it happened during the newscast. It was a sudden, violent jolt...and the shaking continued for quite awhile. It felt like forever. I don't scare easily, but let me tell you, I was terrified. My body was thrown from side to side and I just held on to the bedframe. We've never had two large quakes hit like that, one after the other. Dr Lucy Jones claimed that the 6.4 was a foreshock and the 7.1 was the main quake. But I honestly don't believe everything she says. These seismologists are playing a guessing game, just like most scientists.


When I heard about the Taiwan quake, I knew that California was going to be hit relatively soon. Our weather suddenly went from cool, to warm, and is now getting warmer. Plus, the eclipse is lurking...we're so screwed. But it's okay, since I have plenty of emergency supplies.

I was in LA when that happened and we barely felt it. But San Francisco was positively wrecked, mainly because the Marina District is built on landfill. That area just liquified...the homes and businesses basically slid off their foundations and were destroyed. Gas mains broke, and there were lots of fires. However, the main horror was the two story Bay Bridge collapsing. The top tier pancaked onto the lower tier, COMPLETELY smashing the people and their cars. They were totally flattened. The people were turned into...semi-liquid mush. When news reporters, policemen, and firemen arrived, many of them cried their eyes out. It was absolutely horrifying.

My ex lived in San Francisco, and I called him. He answered the phone and I expressed my deep disappointment that he was still alive. 😄

The eclipse just passed us at 3:21 PM EDT. We didn't get the full umbra but it got dark enough for the streetlights to come on. We had a full eclipse back in the 1990's. The light is coming back now.

We haven't had an earthquake here since the 1950's and that was a mild one that started under Lake Ontario.
 
I "happened upon" several Percocet pills earlier. Needless to say, I'm exceedingly happy. These are extraordinarily difficult to get without a prescription. 😈

Awe I love my bunnies so much. They were such cute little snuggles tonight. Anya was in a playful mood, jumping around my shoulders and over her tunnels while Xander was cuddled on my lap, purring his face off. Bunnies are best pets. Remind me to bring more hay in for them tomorrow. That'll be my weights done!

A ten year old and an 8 year old rabbit are probably not as tasty as that. More hair than anything else. Go for the roos, more meat on them!

There was a new kangaroo metal artwork sculpture at the rest stop today. My dogs are so opposite to each other! Harmony tried to run and hide, I had to bribe her with treats to walk past it. Lilah ran right up to it to bark at it, I had to lure her away with a sock. So funny. I wonder what they will think about it tomorrow. The concrete hadnt set yet so I didnt let them too close. I can see it falling over if we get any real rain this year haha.
 
I went to Oxford Street alone to do some shopping. Ended up only going into the Primark and buying a squish mellow. Then I went to Hyde park which was lovely.

I looked in a few other stores but couldn't find anything I liked. It was very busy and hot in the stores.
 
Scattered day today. Went out to lunch at the park with one of the dogs. Tons of people around in town today. Proper school holiday feel. There were so many cars parked in the street, my dog saw her reflection in the side of them and wanted to play with the mirror dog. She's a dope.

Chopped some more branches at home and dumped some hay that mice got into on the garden. A cat just casually strolled past my patio and send the birds wild. I watered as much of the yard as I could. The city got some rain so Im hoping some hits us down this way.

I have had an annoying cramp in my foot and hand all week. Both get better with movement, but too much movement makes a migraine, so it's been a weird attempted balance week. I'm planning a big walk tomorrow and Sunday morning. And I need to crochet a new dog cot cover so maybe that will work both the cramps out for me over the weekend.
 
Crappy day yet again today. It would have been my Mum's birthday today (79). She passed 17 years ago at the end of this month. SO crap month. No further forward in answers for Abbs health issues, she now has to wait for an ultrasound scan to be done. I feel like poop, I just wanted answers and a fix today but no such luck. Just hurts seeing your kid so ill all the time. On top of that my Dad has his CT scan Tuesday to assess his cancer along with some other tests. I have a mammogram due in 2 weeks so that'll be fun. Just feeling so flat today, sorry for the rant 🙁

Aw, not much fun for you. Sometimes it can help just to have somewhere or someone to rant to.
