Long.

The film night was good, but the castle actually made it echo a bit which was distracting. Quite a few kids dressed up as Harry or Hermione, and we got pizza.

film night, Harry Potter in a castle?

It's a worry when you cannot differentiate Harry from Hermione. Did they deliver the Pizza to Hogworts?
@TamsinValencia yep, we saw Philosopher's Stone, when we arrived it was a bit drizzly still, but by the time the film started it had dried up. However it did get a bit chilly, so I did get more blankets from the car.

I'd go to another outdoor cinema, but with a different chair or a shorter film, as 2 and half hours was not comfy in my chair!

Just got back from picking up my Chinese food. On the way out, I noticed three of the Vietnamese employees openly laughing at a woman who looked poor. She asked them how much two egg rolls cost and they thought it was hilarious. I was beyond furious.

I told them it wasn't nice to laugh at someone less fortunate than they are. The mistake they made was rolling their eyes at me. So I asked, "Did your grandparents have fun dodging napalm during the Vietnam war?" No response.

Wasn't planning on being evil today, but sometimes the opportunity is just handed to me. 😄

Did good at golf today 😀 Best was 4 on a par 3 so I was happy with that. The course was flooded, very soggy, was lucky to use the golf carts.
The blonde dog has eaten something that has given her terrible gas. So its not so nice to be in the same room as her and shes all sad because I keep telling her to move away from me.
Small earthquake here overnight. I thought the dogs were shaking the bed, but they were still.
Got a bit of a headache and dont want to cook tonight.

We normally celebrate birthdays at Miss Bachata and usually there are one or two but last Monday there were six, including my girlfriend (July 30), myself (July 31), two of the instructors and a couple of other people. We generally bring cakes for everyone and after getting a piece of both our cakes plus a corner piece of someone else's, I had the sugar shakes into the next morning. Tonight, it's off to Lago's where there is another birthday. I ay turn diabetic this week.

Southern California had a tsunami alert yesterday, because of the 8.8 quake that hit Russia. Didn't faze me since I don't live near the coast. What does concern me is we're WAY overdue for a big quake here.

I have a closet full of 'disaster supplies' (batteries, flashlights, water, canned food, a fire extinguisher, lanterns, etc) so I'm always prepared. And no, I wasn't a Girl Scout when I was younger. 😋

didn't northern cali get like a 4 foot wave or something?
I'm getting really tired of every company I have to deal with as estate executor requiring three phone calls and emails before they even tell me the critical thing I need to do. It's just endless!

We got the tsunami alert here, too, but they said it would only be about a foot higher than normal on the Washington coast. But you can always count on the local news making the most of such things! Meanwhile, there seems to be very little info about the actual earthquake off the Kamchatka Peninsula, which might have been one of the biggest ever.

Washed and waxed the car today. That was fun! Why do people tell me these things are beyond me? I enjoyed it! But took me the whole day just about. Lucky I took the dogs walkies before I went. Its all decked out now, floor mats and a backseat cover for the dogs, boot cover too. Its going to rain all weekend so I wanted to wax it before that hit. I park under cover but its not exactly weather proof. The rain drips through the flat roof and splashes when the bottom floods.

The poodle has been extremely clingy and snuggly. Shes currently on my lap with a bluey toy in her mouth. Ever since the dogs started sleeping in MY bed they are far more annoying affectionate. It is super sweet when they want face smoosh cuddles, but not while I am trying to drink tea.

Would you like to wash mine now? :D
I’m at the country house with relatives, and gosh, I want to appreciate being in constant demand, but being so constantly social is tasking. Like no! We’ve spent six hours together already! I do not want to sit down for tea. Please leave me alone! With all love and respect, of course 😅

Omg, know the feeling well. Nothing exhausts me more than being social for a few hours!

as an ambivert I agree with these sentiments
Every dealing with a company/entity as an estate executor is more or less an ordeal that takes way longer and more contacts than it should. Today I attempted to open an estate account and move my father's money from his account into it. You'd think this would be a common thing for banks; everybody who has an account will die eventually. I made an appointment on Wednesday, but apparently nobody checked what I clearly stated in the request, that this was for an estate account, because when I got there, I was told the estate banker only works on Thursdays. Another banker was just about to call me about it when she heard me arrive. In other words, she was going to call 10 minutes before my appointment. I give this woman credit, as she did her very best to get help from a banker at another branch, but in the end, I was there two hours, and finally told I would have to come back next Thursday.

All week, I've been calling a life insurance company to forward legal documents and get information. They finally told me, after several calls and emails, that I should contact the local agent who sold the policy. That agent says the policy was sold to a different company, and he is no longer connected to it. Again, he tried to help by contacting someone higher up. This person woke me up this morning to spend 15 minutes basically telling me that he can't help, either. So I will have to wait on the new company to decide it wants to deal with me.

The thing is, my dad may have died, but I am alive and will be the one deciding if I want to work with these companies in the future. So far, the only one that's been easy and above-and-beyond helpful is my dad's locally-owned bank in Iowa.

I'm now even more grateful my uncle handled most of that after my grandmother died. It was stressful, and a few tried to masquerade as compassionate Christians as they tried to exploit me while I was grieving and vulnerable.
The police have been busy and done in two of the ladies in town for pissy driving. I got warned by another that the police are on a rampage. But I can walk home from the pub so, not an issue for me anyway (unless I was coming from the golf club and I have copped so much flack for not getting on the drink there because I say I need to drive home!). Both ladies are going to lose their jobs now cos they need to drive for them.

Went 4wdriving with the neighbour again, even the major gravel roads need a 4wd now! So slippy and slidey. I was amazed by the views of the mountains, so close to town. Boggles the mind why they built the town in a swamp rather than up the hill a bit to give us all mountain views! Maybe I can win lotto and buy one of the farms up there. its less than 5kms out of town, could still walk home from the pub.

We drove to the dam to check it out and its not full, but is more than double the depth it was last time we went out! I was shocked it got so full. Happy it is, but it was unexpected to see that much water. Especially water that is not a salt lake lol.

Trying to plan the rest of my week. Could be busy, but a lot depends on the weather. I love being outside in this weather but no one else does. My house is all clean, washing all done, dishes all done, so I am ready to be out there!

Slippy and slidey, yeesh!
A slow day, for a change. I only made one phone call, and they didn't call back. I hate using the phone. It's often like this, you don't get hold of the person, then have to stay by the desk for them to call, so you're not driving on the freeway or somewhere loud when they do. Emailing or texting is so much better, each person can do it at their own convenience. And yet, so many companies stick to the old ways!

Making lunch I thought I was going mental. I kept hearing bag pipes! I was like, an I having a stroke? There were no reasonable source for the sound as it seemed to move around. Why do I keep hearing bag pipes!?

Like two hours later on the local FB group someone posted a video of two guys walking around playing bagpipes! 😂 So for now, it seems my grasp on reality is still firm enough.

Beautiful morning. I went out to one of the farms today to help with lamb marking. The view of the mountains was spectacular. They rest of them didn't seem to care while I'm standing in awe of it. My shiny car was extremely out of place among big dirty utes. It was so much easier than I thought it was going to be. When I see these sorts of jobs, I realise just how bloody hard my old jobs were. I didnt know at the time how hard I worked, and I have never seen any job that was anywhere near the workload since. It was drilled into me that hard work pays off, but the hardest work I have ever done - absolutely did not. Slack work pays off! Anyway, It wasn't slack work today, but with two cradles (many hands), we got through just under 1900 lambs. I enjoyed today, it was nice to have something to do close by home (and by close by I mean 30kms away via gravel roads!).

Played 18 holes of golf today, in the rain. It was glorious. Wow I am buggered now! I cant believe I got through that many. I was walking but they carried my clubs on the cart, so that helped a lot.

I won two prizes. One for getting closest to the pin on a specific hole and the other I think just for getting through my first 18 hole play. That was sweet of them. Another guy there hit a hole in one, and the entire day was won by the youngest player - an 8 year old. So it was a fun day to be out there.

Looking forward to a bit of a rest day tomorrow. Back to the horses on Monday
