Nice day today, just the usual walkies, cleaning, friend came over this morning. Then I had a nap in the afternoon. Now watching a movie and trying not to binge eat.

Same here. The imgur app I was using crashed, then disappeared. Can't find it on the Playstore anymore, so I can't post gifs at the moment. 😑

I was sitting here, minding my business and watching YouTube when I noticed a few ants on my leg. I completely flipped out because that meant there were probably hundreds just out of view. I was sitting on the futon and pictured ants crawling on me while I was asleep. 😳

I jumped up, grabbed the duvet and pillowcases off the futon, then headed for the laundry room. The futon, duvet, and pillowcases are all black, so I couldn't tell if there was MORE ants hanging about! And my floor is dark wood as well. I was absolutely CONVINCED there was an entire ant colony around me.

For the record, that really, really sucked. 😄

Mine has been pretty good! Spent a couple hours assembling my new bed frame with the help of my boy friend. I detest assembling furniture, but this was relatively easy compared to some others I've assembled in the past. And how I have a bed frame and am no longer sleeping on a mattress on the floor. Whee!

After that, I went to the library to return some books then got lunch and took a walk. It's still quite hot here, but better than it has been. Then headed home to let the animals out and feed them. Now watching a horror movie. All and all, a very nice day.

Aw, Patricia Routledge has passed! 96 is a good age though. Keeping Up Apperances is still hilarious.

Otherwise, good day. Working from home and spending the first weekend at home in months. It means I have to clean and do boring stuff, but I guess I couldn’t escape it forever

So far it’s been rather mixed. Started this morning well with some donuts and coffee, feeling much better after getting antibiotics for the sinus infection I have/had. Unfortunately I went to go walk Sebastian and he is so lackadaisical today. Very sluggish, not interested in eating a lot, etc.

Good days and bad days, I suppose. He seems happy and content and that is what matters.




Just spent time with him today, playing some Persona 3 on my Steam Deck, then headed off. I’ll spend this weekend with him as well. Trying to go to him every day I can, as I do not know how many more of those there will be.

Well I read that as walk with Sebastian, and was all excited about you having a new boyfriend you hadn't told us about. But then cute puppy, sad puppy. That was a I'm too tired to read rollercoaster!

I am now moving into the phase of executorship that is selling my father's condo. My brother is living in it, and today we met with someone who assessed how much will need to be moved, and will send me some quotes. The professionals will have to pack up a lot, as my brother just wasn't able to get more than maybe a third done. My brother is flying out in a few days, and I will be left to deal with everything. Which is depressing, but at the same time, I think it will be easier to do without him there, wanting to commentate on every item. Once it's all packed and moved, I have no doubt that it will just live forever in a storage unit, but that will be his problem, not mine. Anyway, I feel good about having taken the first step.

Woke up in the night with a really itchy throat, managed to sooth it enough with water to go back to sleep. I need to see if I have any proper throat sweets left and put them by the bed in case it happens again.

Been a bit of a demoralising day. I am stir crazy during the holidays. Even my own town is busy so I can imagine how it is in surrounding towns and spaces. The dogs have been clowns, doing crazy zoomies and plays, so that helps. I walked them and did a few k's on the rowing machine while they dug up the yard. I would have liked to go play golf but thats on hold until I can get my own golf clubs sorted. I need to take the car for a run before mice find it and think its a good place to stay, but where to go that isnt going to run me into holiday traffic? No where. Chinese food isnt even open today. I am cooking a different weetbix slice today, full fatty.

My brother flew out today to his new life in a different state. I went to check his place and see if I could throw out anything designated for the junk man ahead of time. I found that he had marked hardly anything to be junked, but I took a garbage bag full of stuff. I expected to only stay there about half an hour, but I discovered that he hadn't emptied his fridge! It was full of half-empty jars and ancient food that took four large garbage bags to empty. I hope the building manager won't notice that something white dribbled most of the way to the dumpster!

And there is so much stuff left that will have to be packed up professionally. It's depressing to think about, but at least I don't have to do it myself. He wouldn't get it packed or junked himself, but now wants to limit what is spent on packing and moving it, and how much space it will take up in a storage unit. Can't have it both ways! And I feel sure most of it will sit in the storage unit forever.

Today was the day to tackle the clogged sink in the downstairs bathroom. I brought in the Shop Vac to see if I could pull anything out of the drain. No luck. So just to be able to say I tried everything, I put the blower side on the sink after taping the overflow port on the sink and left some water in the sink just to act as a pressure seal. I underestimated the power of the blower as it blew black mold from the overflow pipe all over the room, getting the mirror, the counter and even the toilet. But after a half-hour cleanup, the sink was flowing like new and after the cleanup, the room smelled better than usual, so I will count that as a win.

And if you did, it would be worth something! My brother is basically a hoarder, but his stuff is collectibles, vinyl records, DVDs, and such.

Still, today I got the gob-smacking moving quote, 3X higher than a ballpark quote I got earlier for a general 1-br apt. They got me four bids and this was the least expensive. It was upsetting, and my brother will hit the roof when I tell him. He's going to have to pay it out of what he gets from selling the condo. But he can't have it both ways. He packed up only about a tenth of what he has, and he has a lot. I just wish we had known before, as maybe it would have incentivized him to get rid of more stuff, and do more packing himself. But I doubt it, as he was overwhelmed. And now we'll just have to pay it. And I'm going to have to pay it upfront and wait for reimbursement, because he has nowhere near that kind of money, and neither does the estate at this point. An inheritance is supposed to get you some more money, but so far, I am just paying out thousands. 🙁

I was sitting on the couch and one of the dogs started barking crazy. One of my neighbours had let themselves in and was sitting on my back patio 🤣 . She brought me cake. And then stayed for 2 hours chatting. Poor old dear thinks all these people do so many "kind favours" for her. I didn't have the heart to tell her that they are paid to help her. She was talking about trying to find a pressie for the resource centre if they help her with her computer - they are government funded to help the elderly get online.

Shes such a crack up though, telling me about her life. She said life used to be easy, but now its not and she has never regretted not having children. She said the nun told her when she got her tubes tied after marriage at 16, that she will end up lonely without children. She said shes happier than ever now living alone since her husband died, and doesnt get lonely. I believe her.

I got a jigsaw out, I've been saying for ages I want to get offline more as that's definitely been on the increase lately. So I opened up the table and put the folder mat thing on it and have opened a jigsaw.

It's now cuppa tea and book time. I'm trying to get the first of the Richard Coles books read before I watch the new series on tv.

I met up with my ex yesterday and that was nice, bit of lunch and a catch up. Then my brother turned up and decorated downstairs bathroom and hallway and up the stairs. He also did a few jobs around my house including putting up my convention photos/autographs 😀

I found a dead mouse in my walk in wardrobe so I spent the arvo cleaning all of that out. My bunny is going to be so happy when she sees its all cleaned up now, she thinks its her secret maze and its her favourite place to play. I wouldnt be surprised if she killed the mouse for trespassing.

Friend of mine in Florida started noticing a bad smell. Couldn't track it down at all. Then noticed discoloration on one of the walls. Brought someone in to open up the wall and found a QUITE dead 12 foot python.
