How Was Your Day?

Went to see the grandkids and had an early Thanksgiving dinner with the entire family.πŸ¦ƒ
Had a great time!!

Going to grandma's early tomorrow for dinner 1.0 and then on to GF family house for dinner 2.0. 😳 What's everyone's plans for Thanksgiving?

No thanksgiving here. I went to the coast yesterday. It was so insanely busy. I couldn't even get a parking spot at the pets shop! That has never happened. Half the stuff I wanted from the big shop was sold out too. Its not even holidays yet and the place is already packed full and over capacity!

My ankle has blown up today, I dont remember hurting it. Its not too sore but its defo got some issues, so I am trying to keep off it today. I have housework and garden work to do, so I'm hoping I dont rest so much that I zone out and forget.

Lovely day today! Solid cloud cover. Walkies was excellent πŸ˜€ Had a nice time with my dogs. Went to get Chinese food for lunch, confirming that its time to hunker down at home for the summer. The highway was insanely busy with P plate drives doing dangerous passes. I was ecstatic when I caught up to all 3 when they got stuck behind a harvest road train.

What is a P plate? I've watched enough Aussie TV to know a road train is an extra-long semi-truck hauler.

P plate is provisional license, people who have had their license for under a year. They have to display a "P" on their front and back window so that other drivers know. Its different now to when I got mine but there are red P's and green p's now. Red P's are more restricted. It was teens with green p's driving erratically. Its also "Leavers" time here - the year twelve school students have finished their exams and are out partying all over the state. They have the summer off now. I forget that other people dont know what I am talking about πŸ™‚

The road trains have ripped up the roads, so its pretty crazy to be flying along out there!

Thanks for the explanation. You'd think they'd be more careful, not less, but that's teens for you!
Things are going badly for my girlfriend. She sublet a room of her 2-bedroom apartment to a girl who is a thief who actually showed her how to pick locks and a number of things have gone missing. She installed cameras to see what was going on but the thief took the sim cards, so there is nothing to go on. The police have been called into the building yesterday as a number of tenants have been complaining about the new handyman taking stuff as well. I have taken some of her jewelry and a heated jacket home for safekeeping. When we tried to return the cameras, we found she had also taken the shopping bag with the receipt in it, so that was another hassle. We finally got a card giving us credit for the amount spent and we spent that on a new camera. That had to be set up to operate an app on her phone and she got a woman who lives down the hall to do it.

Pretty low key day here. Worked on Dresden Files fanfiction, hung out with the family, went to a knitting meeting. I got some more Irish study in. It's started to get cold here, which means getting warmer jammies for the kiddos.

Polka will never die!
My day has been pretty uneventful. Firstly, I didn't get out of bed until 2pm. Then I Ubered to go pick up my truck that I left at the bar last night, then just hung around at home until I had to leave for work.

It's been so slow at work.

Sometimes I do wish the shops were open past 5pm here. There is a harvest and vehicle movement ban today, so the roads would be relatively quiet. I'd quite enjoy driving an air conditioned car to the coast this evening. But Aldi shut half an hour ago. The only place I could go is for fast food. I've probably left it too late to get down and back before sunset though. The roos are also an issue I dont want to tackle at dusk. Im just a bit stir crazy cos I didnt even get to go walkies today. My neighbour dropped in early and by the time he left it was 30C and rising, so I wasnt going walking in that.

The fishies are very happy. They like sunbathing. I turned on the fountain today because I was a bit worried about the amount of air in there. The big fish love it, the little fish dont know what to think. I assume I will have an algae bloom soon with all the heat and extra oxygen.

The poodle is trying to snuggle me despite the heat. Shes a very sweet girl, but I dont need a living heat pack on me today. Shes offended.

I’ve been so exhausted through November, and it doesn’t seem to let up. My mind just won’t function properly.

For the most part it's been the same for me. I'm hoping December will be better, but I may have to wait until January.
Wasnt good walkies today. Blonde dog got stung by a bee πŸ™ She cried. I had to carry her the whole way home. It must have been so sore for her cos I have never heard her cry like that. It was so woeful, with her paw in the air, so sad. Shes been sad all day. She cheered up a bit for a new toy in the afternoon.

Washed the car today. Didnt do a very good job, cos when I went to wax it, I realised how dirty it still was! So it will need another wash before I do the waxing. I was dumb to wash it when I did, full sun, 35C, not even the dogs wanted to join me out on the lawn. So it was a bit of a rush job.

Another night of talking myself out of going for a drive solely for takeaway. I brought an Oz lotto ticket instead, and when I win I will never have to talk myself out of it again!

poor puppy!
Trying to sort out my will. My mum was worried that my dad will try to take my car. Its the biggest asset I have. So I want to make sure that cant happen. Other than that, just hope mum will take the dogs too! Everything else can go in the bin, not worth fussing over garden tools and craft supplies.

An hour ago, my sister wanted to wash her clothes, but a neighbour had "taken over" the laundry room. That's against the rules, so she called security. They told the woman she wasn't allowed to treat the laundry room like it belonged to her, and she had a hissy fit. Told my sister to go F herself, and a bunch of other stuff. Then stormed out.

My sister was a bit frightened, and told security she was going to call me. He said, "Let's try to avoid that." πŸ˜… But she did, once he left. I quickly got dressed and went to the laundry room. Removed the woman's clothes from from both washers and put my sister's stuff in. I sat there and waited.

Long story short, the woman came out and saw her wet clothes on the folding table. Then she saw me sitting there, pretty much daring her to say something. I was hoping she would, but zero joy. πŸ™ She took her stuff and went to another laundry room.

My sister annoys me to no end, but she's family. Don't mess with my family.

You go girl. Just don't get arrested...again πŸ˜‰
Last night was the free Christmas dinner at Lago's, an Italian bar / dance hall / restaurant. They served penne with plenty of parmesan cheese available, so I thought that was pretty chintzy for Christmas. My girlfriend and I danced a few more songs and we began to see different meals. I thought these were extras people were ordering but it was a second course of breaded veal cutlet, broccoli, roast potatoes and salad. That's more like it! In the picture below, you will se near the middle, a white-haired gentleman in black pants and a white shirt and you can just barely see the black frame of his glasses. That is Vincenzo, born in Napoli on November 14, 1934. That's right, he's 91 years old. One woman who was sitting beside us had danced with him a few times and she came back to her chair and said, "I had to get away from him. He was dancing me into exhaustion."

Vincenzo is my hero.

Good days. Trying to start some bonsai plants again. I have tried before but they never lived more than 2 years. So I am giving it a go again. I also got a new native plant that I have been looking for, for ages, so I was happy and hope it wants to live in my garden.

Went to the movies today and that was fun too. Good day out but my arms went numb from sitting too long. Glad to be home, It was a long day. Got maccas for the drive home and shared some nuggets with the dogs when I got in. Everyone is happy now πŸ˜€

Had a nice day out with a friend. Today was the first open house for my late Dad's condo, and the realtor reported that eight groups of people came. Some of course were just curious neighbors, but he said at least one person seemed to have some serious interest. I hope so. I priced it mid-range in hopes it will sell quickly!
