How would the Scoobies and the Fang Gang have done against each other's Big Bads?

Let's say after S3 of BTVS (to keep it simple), how would the Scoobies have done against the Angel bad guys, Wolfram & Hart, Holtz, The Beast and Jasmine? Similarly, how would Angel and company have done against Adam and The Initiative, Glory, Dark Willow and Caleb/The First? I know it's not a totally seamless transfer (obviously there's context unique to each show with things like Dark Willow, Holtz or Connor).

If I had to think of one in particular, I think Angel's team would have done far better against The First and Caleb.

I doubt that Buffy and the Scoobies would have done any better against Wolfram & Hart than Angel and his people did. The Senior Partners were never really beaten, they just more or less became so annoyed with Angel that they set a trap for him (the amulet that he didn't wear in the fight against the First Evil after all) then eventually, in the last IDW Spike 6 part edition, simply left the universe rather than be bothered by him anymore.

On the other hand, I can't imagine Angel, Wes, Gunn, and Fred, even with Cordy and Connor tossed in as reinforcements, being able to contain the First Evil inside the Hellmouth.

It's basically comparing apples and oranges, anyhow. Buffy and the Scoobies were in the business of stopping the yearly apocalypse, and they were quite good at it. Angel and his people fought some formidable enemies, but none, with the exception of W&H, capable of world destruction. Their regular enemies operated on a smaller scale than that. The two groups were specialists in their fields. Either one trying to do the others' job wouldn't have been impossible, but it WOULD have been more difficult.

I think both AtS and BtVS would have ended in s6 of BtVS because Willow would have ended the world already. There's no way Angel and co could have dealt with that situation in my mind.

Aside from that, I think the Scoobies would have been awful at dealing with W&H, and in fact pretty much most of the problems seen in Angel. White avenger said it pretty well, both crew were good with their own type of problems, but would have done fairly poorly had the spots been switched. I do think Angel and co. had a bit more adaptation abilities, they could have done well against The first, but I don't see them dealing well with Glory, or Adam.

The Scoobies were experts in apocalypse, but I don't see them reaching out to help the helpless, and thinking outside the box (which was required in so many storylines in Angel). Jasmine could have been a big bad that would have worked for the Scoobies, or the bigger demon organisation seen in Hero, but they would have been useless against most of the big bads and even some of the smaller problems Angel faced.

Its hard to say. Most of Buffy's threats were more physical while Wolfram and Hart was more of a sinister organization that like to mess with people. Angel and his team were more equipped to fight W&H because Angel is more of a strategist. Buffy would just punch her way in and demand to fight the person in charge. Angel knew exactly what he was doing when he infiltrated W&H and fought them from the inside.

Likewise though, Angel and his team might have wound up being defenseless against Glory. Although Angel would have been able to see Glory's transformation into Ben which would have made things a lot easier for them.

Jasmine would have been difficult for Buffy and the scoobies to face, it was only by sheer luck that Fred became immune to her charm.

Dark Willow would have annihilated the Angel Team in the blink of an eye.

Buffy could have figured out the key to fighting the Beast eventually, though he did seem to be a formidable opponent even against Faith.

Thats all the conclusions I can draw from those specific fights. Haha.

Buffy wouldn't have stood a chance against WR&H, most of the people at WR&H were human. Buffy doesn't kill humans.

Aside from the comment about not seeing the Scoobs reaching out to help the helpless (with which I agree -- I mean, Buffy and Angel's personal missions are totally different), I don't see what you mean. I don't think you're giving the Scoobies enough credit in their ability to adapt.

I mean, the Scoobies were constantly coming up with different ways to take out baddies. Buffy threw the Master on a table, shot a rocket at The Judge, blew the Mayor up, combined her essence with the other Scoobies to defeat Adam, hit Glory with a wrecking ball (and troll hammer!), and turned dozens of girls into Slayers and took them straight into the Hellmouth, the source of all her Slayery troubles. Buffy was constantly reinventing the wheel of slaying to suit whichever bad she was up against.

If anything, I think that Buffy and co. are good at adapting on the fly, whereas Angel Investigations typically think more strategically and thoroughly. I think that's mostly due to the members of AI lacking supernatural powers. They had to be more careful, more certain.

You actually just wrote exactly the point I wanted to make. Yes, the Scoobies adapt very well in their own field, but all the bad guys you mentioned are big demon that needed to be slayed. The Master, the Judge, the Mayor, Adam, Glory were all apocalypse threat, and were all big bad guys. They were exactly in the field of expertise of the Scoobies. The Scoobies are good at killing, and finding ways to kill demon.

What I mean, you said it yourself, Angel and co are strategic player. Bringing the powerhouse Buffy would have done nothing against W&H because they didn't require to be killed, or slayed, they required to be infiltrated. W&H is the perfect enemy for Angel but wouldn't have worked on BtVS. Don't forget that I do agree Buff would had done good against people like Jasmine, or other "big" bad guys. Or she would have done good in storylines that required slaying. But I don't see Buffy dealing with exorcism like Angel does, or underground demon organisation, and I don't see her burning up a bunch of lawyers. It's not that she doesn't adapt, but she's centered around fighting stuff she can actually kill. Angel has quite a few very different big bads that can't exactly be killed, often because they are human, or there's a lot of grey areas for Angel, whereas Buffy faces more black and white situations.

Ahh, alright! I see your point now. I concur!
Not to take this off topic, but how do you think Buffy would have dealt with Billy? (I know it's Lilah that ends it but..)

Well, he wasn't actually human, so I think she wouldn't have minded killing him herself. 😉

As for the topic at end, it would be very dependent on the plot itself. I'm certain that they would have created a possibility for the Scoobies to break Jasmine's spell, just like Angel and co would have found a way to weaken Glory. 😉 Honestly, it's really hard to answer that kind of question.

I think Angel's team could have defeated anything with proper strategy. As for W&H on BtVS, that would have made little sense... Buffy fighting lawyers? Lol. It would have been a pain in the ass to find an excuse for the Scoobies to *kill* human lawyers.

I don't see Buffy or the Scoobies having the patience to play the long game against Wolfram & Hart. I think the lawyers would take them down, and probably legally too.
