How would you make the Buffy movie?

I know it's pretty much not happening, not anytime soon, but....

I really wish they would make a Buffy movie. And it's not going to be a discussion whether they should make a Buffy movie or not. I just want to know, how would you make the Buffy movie. Which characters would be in it, which couples, which plot and evil/big bad. In other words, how would a Buffy movie be like from your point of view? Go nuts!

For me, a new Buffy movie would replace the comics (which are, I think, a bit useless and very ugly to read). I don't like the idea of making comics on what's going on after Buffy, it seems to me like they want to use Buffy as long as they can but it isn't the same, it isn't as great and the story looks like a fanfic. I don't mean to enter in another debate on the comics.

But I think it would have been better that instead of the comics, we have a movie which happens a few years after Chosen. It would have been a great way to show what the gang became with all those Slayers around the world. I really would have liked that, seeing a "Buffy- Few years later" (now that's an original title 😀)

I agree with your whole post, from A-Z.

I dunno, I think I'd like a (partial) reboot. Even though I like the Potentials, their activation 'ended' the concept of Buffy in a way.

Oh yeah, and lots of Spuffy sex.

More Spuffy sex karma! :D
If I were going to make a movie, I would have it deal with the time immediately following the final battle in Sunnydale. I think that there is a very good, interesting story waiting to be told there. The first couple of months with Buffy and her crew healing, organizing, and preparing for the future, possibly in Angel's hotel while Giles accumulated funds from the various Watchers' accounts in Switzerland and the Cayman Islands, then off to Pittsburgh to set up a headquarters there.

(The first sequel would deal with patrolling the new hellmouth and setting up a global search and location force to find and recruit the newly activated Slayers. The next four movies would bring us up to the beginning of Season 8, with Buffy and her team jumping out of the helicopter and Buffy "missing the sex." From there, we would make one 6 hour TV miniseries for each story arc right up to the end of the season, then take a 3 month break while I negotiate with Cameron and Lucas to act as second unit directors for the Season 9 movies.)

I wouldn't make a Buffy movie at all. Her story belongs in the TV series and the comics, not on the big screen (as witnessed in the first movie 😛). What I would do, though, is a Slayer movie. Either focussing on one particularly important/interesting Slayer in history or maybe a sort of anthology movie of three or four Slayers that are somehow connected through the ages, through the villain or some mystical artifact, maybe.

LOL, WA, you should definitely head that up!! Lemme know what Joss says next time you talk to him. 😉

I think it's impossible to use the current actors as these characters. It has been too long, and they're simply getting too old, plus I don't think Joss would be able to assemble them all. So my vote is either for a Fray movie, or wait another 10 yrs or so and do a reboot of the original Buffy movie (keeping it canon, but using different actors).

The problem with WA's version is that immediately after season 7, Angel is still at W&H. So, are you going to incorporate that, or do a retcon of Angel season 5? and after NFA of course LA goes to hell.

No matter how it gets done, if it's a continuation after Chosen, you've got to at some point deal with the multitude of slayers & the dying out of the Slayer line. Because by Melaka Fray's time, she's the only one, and she's the only one that had been called in X number of years (someone fill in the blanks for me). Joss kind of boxed himself in a bit when he created the world of Fray (as awesome as it is). I actually think the season 8 comics are doing a good job tying all that in. But, to each her/his own!

I've thought about this for a while and been tempted to make my own "Mini-Intro-teaser" video of it cuz, I think it would ROCK if nothing else...

The music to start with would be AC/DC's "Thunderstruck" which starts with a solo guitar and chanting. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYWZZlVlFb4"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EYWZZlVlFb4[/ame]
The Camera view would be flying through the clouds at a fast pace as the guitar and chanting build and then as the musics first "Thun-der"
is sung the camera breaks through the clouds and comes out over the edge of a seeming desert. These words come up on the screen:

"She burned down her schools Gymnasium"
The view continues to race, covering ground at a lightening pace until finally, the ground racing by below slows as we come to the edge of a massive crater and pauses slightly as we take in the awesome chasm that was once SunnyDale... These words appear on the screen:

"She's faced and defeated untold Evil and left her home town after reducing it to a crater."
MUSIC Swells with-"You've been thunder-struck!"
BAM!...the camera view rockets off again, racing over the crater and continuing on through and across Arizona, New-Mexico and over Texas (mentioned in the song) and seemingly mimicking the path that Buffy and the gang took as they left that town.
These words appear on the screen:
"She's faced Death 1000 times"
Our view race's across the US, maybe through Ohio from there and into Cleveland (The home of other Hellmouth) and then on again as we hit the East Coast and continue off across the Atlantic toward Europe...
"...But now Death will be forced to face the Slayer one last time."

My ultimate movie would bring back all the major character's involved with the series of Buffy and Angel which I think would be the ONLY way to do it justice.
The "Big-Bad" that Buffy would be facing would be DEATH itself. (I'm talking big black cloak,Skull head, huge scythe and Bat Wings...REAL nasty looking)Played in Human form by a black clad
Ralph Fiennes, Alan Rickman or Ian McKlellen.

Entirely new cast, and have the original cast do a small cameo sometime during the movie. The main reason I would do a new cast is because there a chance of restarting the show with new actors

I was wondering if anyone was going to catch that or not. Actually, in my movie, Buffy and her people are still at the Hyperion on the 19th day, when Spike arrives at W&H. Angel being Angel, he quickly assesses the implications of Spike's return and accurately judges his chances with Buffy if she finds out that her Champion has, indeed returned (about 10 less than zero) and takes Angelesque action. He calls Giles, and between the two of them, with the help of Wesley and his department, they make a deal with a Higher Being known only as Twilight that allows them to invoke an inhibition spell that will physically prevent Spike from getting within a city block of Buffy without either Angel himself or Giles being nearby in order to take steps to thwart the moment. The sinister beauty of the spell is that it serves to convince Spike that rejoining Buffy would be anticlimactic, considering the heroic way in which he sacrificed himself in the hellmouth battle. For double protection, the spell also works on Buffy, convincing her that, even if she were to discover that Spike had returned, her duties as General Buffy and Mama Slayer just don't leave her with any time to go and find him.

In order to further guard against the True Slayer and her Champion reuniting, Angel gives Giles enough money to get all of the Slayers out of the country, and even provides them with some W&H property, an actual Scottish castle in a remote Highland location far enough away from anywhere as to further isolate the Slayers from the goings on in Los Angeles.

(I wasn't going to reveal that important sub plot until the first movie was released because of the way that it would reveal the truth behind all of the sinister plots that come to fruition in Season 8, but I'm sure that I can trust all of you to keep these matters confidential while Joss and I work out the final details and start on the shooting script)

Your plan actually sounds REALLY awesome
And so, the point of your movie would be...? To set up the exact plot of season 8 LOL? That'd be a lot of money for no reason.

And wow, I thought Joss was the king of ret-con! 😉

I would like to see either a past slayer or a present slayer. I don't want to see a new Buffy, and I don't want to see a crappy half arsed plot. I want something new and different. I would want something that was funny and a little bit scary.

Personally I think the story that I would most like to see is Nikki Wood's. We would get to see some romance (well we know she had sex anyway), it's set in New York which would be fun and there's plenty of room to be creative with a new story.

Otherwise I think it would be nice to see a freshly activated slayer, or maybe two or three interweaved stories that don't yet know what they are. Maybe a European, an American and an Australian.

ITA, except for her death of course, that wouldn't be fun LOL!
I think I'm on board with the story of how the slayer line dies out between Buffy and Fray. That sounds really interesting and it could hold it's own without any of the Buffy cast at all.
