I thought it be neat to know how you all met the person you are together with. Was it love at first sight, or did you think the person was a scruffy looser? 🙂 Was it a cangel like thing were you all were friends for a long time before it was any spark, or was it all bangely "you will never be friends."? 🙂 Tell me!

If you're singel you can share a story about how you met your ex (if you don't hate them, lol) or maybe how your parents met or something like that. 🙂

I wanna hear some looooove stories! 😀

lol cute thread :D I'll try to think of something to post
great idea 🙂

I met my ex through mutual friends. He's the brother of one of my mates, so I occasionally saw him and I remember thinking WOW when I met him for the first time, but we flirted for about six months before something actually happened. We were together for about four years, with a few minor break-ups every now and again, before we decided to call it a day about six months ago. It was long distance for most of the time and we couldn't really handle it anymore. We're trying to be friends, but I don't think it'll work out, which is a shame, because he is a great guy. I'd say I'm over him, but that is only half true. I don't want him back, but I'm not even half ready for anything new, so I guess I'm still recuperating.

Sorry, not one of the great love stories of our time 😉

My story of how I met my husband is the stuff movies are made of. 🙂
I had just gotten out of a really bad relationship. The guy I had been with before was a supposed family friend who ended up being a mentally abusive jerk, and he single handedly broke my heart and my spirit when we broke up. It had been two months and I had barely left my house to go anywhere or see anyone, and my cousin and my best friend showed up at my house one night in December and said "Ok, we're not going to let you stay inside like a hermit anymore; you're coming out tonight." I did everything I can to resist, but they refused to let me stay home; I showered, and then they picked out my clothes and my best friend did my hair and make-up and they almost literally drug me out of the house to go to this dance club we used to love to go to.
I kept saying to them on the way to the club that I did NOT want to dance with any guys; I was going out for a night with the girls and that was it. I was serious about that, too; I had absolutely no intention of dating anyone for at least another 4 months or so, and I had no interest in flirting with any hot guys.
When we got to the club, we were dancing and it felt like someone literally grabbed my face and turned it against my will to force me to look at this guy standing against the bar. He was a cutie, I admitted to myself, but I was serious that I didn't want a relationship or even a dance partner for the night. I pointed him out to my cousin and my friend, and they were like "Wow, he's hot! Go dance with him!" and I said "Nope. Not happening."
A little while later, we were taking a break from dancing and I looked over to see this cute guy's friends laughing and pointing at him while he wasn't looking. Curious to see what they were laughing at, I watched and saw one of his friends gesture for him to take his hat off. He moved his hat up off his forehead and I saw why they were laughing; there was a big white streak across his head that was glowing under the blacklight. He had no clue, obviously, and everytime he would turn his head or his back, they'd laugh hysterically. I told my cousin, and we watched again while he lifted his hat. This time we were laughing too, and he caught us. He shot us a "go to Hell" look, then turned back to his friends. I started to feel bad 'cause more and more people were noticing, and his friends just kept doing it to make him look like a big dork. So I decided to go tell him. I tapped on his shoulder, and when he turned around he gave me all kinds of attitude and was like "What?" I smiled and said "Um, hi... Your forehead is glowing". His eyes shot open wide and he said "Huh?" and I laughed and said "That's why people keep looking at you and laughing... Everytime your friends get you to take your hat off, your forehead glows under the blacklights". He took his hat off and started rubbing at his head, viciously, and explained that he had come straight from work and where he worked he had to wear a hairnet. It was the residue from the hairnet that was making his forehead glow. LOL
So our little group merged with his and we all stood there hanging out for a while, when all of a sudden a bar fight broke out. I was right in the line of fire, and my future hubby pulled me out of the way. He ended up getting cut across his cheek with a beer bottle because he spun into the area I had been standing in, just to keep me from getting hit. We had a corny little "you're my hero" exchange, and then we all decided to leave 'cause the club was getting crazy and the cops were on their way.
When we got outside to the parking lot, my friends were exchanging cell phone #'s with his buddies, and I asked if he wanted my number. He said "I tell you what... I will give you MY number. That way the ball's in your court. If you decide you want to get to know me, then you can and if not, then maybe I'll get lucky and see you around here sometime again soon." It was so different than anything I'd ever heard before, and something in me knew he was someone I was meant to meet. I waited 2 days before calling him, but when I did, we made a date for New Year's Eve and the rest is history. 🙂 That was almost 9 years ago...

aww that's heckof cute "My Hero..." is DEFINITELY what I would have said <3
Obviously I just got out of a 3 and a half year relationship so all this romance is making me a little sad. Our story was kinda lame anyway. We had known each other for 4 years and I'm not even sure exactly how we met. We just kinda knew each other.

I think I'll tell the story of how me and my ex-ex met. That's a little nicer I think.

I was out in the city with two of my guy mates (one funnily enough became my recent ex!) and we will all drinking at a pub and getting a little rowdy. One of the guys mentioned he was off to a birthday at a club that was miles and miles away and we decided that me and my mate should crash with the other guy.

My friend was wearing shorts though so wouldn't have been able to get in. Between the 3 of us we scrapped together enough money to buy him some pants and off we went to the club.

Someone pointed out the guy whose party I had crashed and I decided to go wish him a happy birthday. I was a little drunk so this didn't go according to plan. I ran up to him on the dancefloor and sung Blink 182s what's my age again while dancing around him in a circle 'nobody likes you when you're 23' and then just danced off to get another drink.

He was pretty intrigued about the random girl that new that it was his 23rd birthday and ended up following me to the bar for a chat. We ended up dancing, laughing and drinking all night long.

I ended up back at his house for a one night stand and the next morning I couldn't for the life of me remember his name! Baha, I realised that I was an hour away from my house and had to go to work that day so he drove me home, waited while I showered and got ready and took me to work.

We kept bumping into each other and surely enough my one night stand turned into a relationship. The first great love of my life!

That's a cute story, and Blink = awesome! at least their older stuff. I'm sorry about your recent relationship stuffers =[
Well, I don't have a boyfriend currently. I've never had one at all, lol.

There's this guy I'm into right now and we met online but we're not dating yet. We're supposed to meet soon if he ever gets over the stupid flu he has right now.

Then there's the first guy I've ever fell in love with - I met him online too. But he lived in another state. He never gave me any other contact information either so when he just stopped getting online and disappeared... that was it.

Lol, no happy story from me 😛

Well, I've never had a boyfriend, so I'll just tell you my parents' story. It's pretty short. Basically, they were neighbours. My mother married the boy next door. 😀

Well, I met my ex a long time ago, around 2006 on a message board for the Saw films (we were huge fans back then), but we didn't start dating until December 2007. We were together for two years until December 27, 2009 (I'll remember that date until the day I die) when she broke up with me. Since then, I've been pretty much a complete wreck, crying constantly, emotional breakdowns, panic attacks, all that good stuff. I probably sound like an idiot being so upset over someone I haven't actually met in person yet (I'm in the US, she's in Australia), but I am. I love her more than anything in the world and always will, and would do anything to change her mind. It really sucks feeling this way. 🙁

I met my ex on a trip to France when I was looking after him when he'd drank too much cheap red wine and was puking everywhere. We then spent the rest of the trip (near enough) talking.

Well that's definitely interesting =] and yay for France! =] Sorry it didn't work out though =\
Since high school I've dated very sporadically just because I'm not quite at the point in my life where I feel like I can maintain a serious relationship. Right now I'm working towards getting into the army so again it seems like a bad time to consider dating.

My most recent foray into the dating scene came through a new hire at my work. I'm the night auditor for a hotel here; the accountant for the entire property. They always have someone who does my shift part time so I can have my days off. After the last person left they hired a new girl; Mechelle.

The first time I met her was when I was coming in for my shift and she was just getting done with her training session for the earlier one. She was very friendly and actually I would describe her as a smalltown Buffy.

Once I started training her on the graveyard shift we immediately hit it off. Besides the paperwork and housekeeping responsibilities there's very little customer traffic so we had a chance to spend a lot of time together. On payday one time we both happened to come in at the same time.

She remarked that she had walked so I offered to drive her to the bank; we stopped for coffee and chatted quite a bit. Over the next few weeks we had lunch/dinner together and became affectionate towards each other.

I guess she wasn't as hard a worker as my boss thought though because in the course of a week she didn't come in for two of her shifts. Since I'm a lead and the shifts were before mine I was the one they called to come in; meaning I had to work two sixteen hour shifts in the same week.

She wasn't very sincere in her apology and after that I just treated her as a co-worker; a few days later she said that she couldn't work their anymore because I was so upset with her and she quit.

That was around two months ago now; I've gotten to the point where I'm kinda past it. It's certainly not gonna stop me from looking for Miss Right...I am loves bitca after all.

C
CrayonBreakyMe
That's pretty lame, it seems she was irresponsible though, and not sincere as you said. better off without her. <3 Bitca quote =]
The guy I'm seeing right now I met at a bar she both frequent on a regular basis. Basically, I thought he was attractive so I introduced myself. We got to know each other, and well, eventually started seeing each other more often. Not a wildly interesting story, I'll admit, lol.

We're a rare breed; only men with the finest taste can appreciate the Buffster. =)
In high school, I do the stereotypical 'high school' things. Key word, stereotypical. I wrote my crush's name on my hand and notebooks. I memorised his schedule. I even went as far as...ahem...stalking. Whether it be on Facebook or knowing where he worked, I stalked.

Then, I joined the school musical. And finally, after getting tired of my endless rants and full on stalking, my best friend just introduced me to him since they were classmates.

I did that kind of stuff too but I don't think I stalked anyone.
Heh, well I don't really do those kinds of (monogamous, couple-y) relationships right now. But I do see two different people.

J. We went to the same school about four years ago. We didn't really get to know each other then, but ended up in the same feminist discussion group. The group kept meeting up after we finished that school, and I got to know J some. Then in the end of 2007 I broke up with my girlfriend at the time. Me and J started going to the same clubs and stuff, and one time we randomly hooked up after a party. We kept sort of randomly hooking up for 6 months, then she broke it off. Then we started seeing each other again for about 5 months. Then she broke it off. About a month or two later, we decided to have more of a relationship. We didn't refer to eachother as girlfriends, but we were in a (kind of mongamous) relationship for almost a year. Then J broke it off again. We didn't see eachother that much for a few months. Now we have something again. We're not in a relationship, we're definitely not girlfriends, or monogamous, but we care a lot about eachother, sleep together (as in in the same bed) about once a week or a bit more, and sometimes sleep together (as in sex).

M. I met M through friends 2.5 years ago and I was immediately so attracted to her. We ended up making out a lot at a party, and then we didn't see eachother for a long time. Our "relationship" started about 1.5 years ago, but it's been really off and on. And M lives with her girlfriend (we're actually pretty good friends, which I find awesome).

Before that, when I used to have girlfriends, I met them all here on BB 😀 Well, at least two of them, but that's a long time ago, heh.

I

have some non-monogamous & BB matchmaking karma then, lol!
I met him on my summer vacation.. We were like on/off during the vacation, because he didn't know why I kept refusing him everytime I tried to hit on me. And I found that cute, so I tried to make him jealous hanging out with a friend all the time.
In the end we went out and started dating..
But we broke up after 1½ year 🙂

My now-husband and I were both volunteering as guards on a party for teenagers during the biannual student festival at the university where we were studying. We got talking ~ I do that very easily ~ even if I found him a little too much of a nice guy and he found me a little too unconventional. (I don't think having extremely short, platinum-blonde hair helped, that's the most unflattering hairstyle I've ever had. I can pull off the length, easily, but not the colour.) We met by coincidence here and there on campus, then met at some parties (ok, so I became a bit more of a party-goer for a brief while, I'll admit too that), and after a while he took what one of his house-mates defined as the "ugliest girl of the party" home for the night :cool2: Later, he impressed me by actually spending time with me in the stables, even if he has never been horsey. And here we are, ten years, a cat, a horse and two children later.

lol, you had Spike hair? :D
i've been unlucky with relationships. i met my first (and only) boyfriend in high school. i joined the school after the 1st semester of year 10 but we didnt actually get to know each other until sometime in year 11. he became one of my best friends and there was a lot of flirting going on. it took him about a year to ask me out (by which time everybody had already told me that it was so obvious he liked me - though i wasnt sure how i felt about him). so when he asked me out i just went along with it but realised i just didnt feel as much for him as he did for me so i broke it off after 9 months.

he'll always be the person i wished i loved. he's such a great guy and he'll make a perfect husband one day. we're back to being friends now.

the people i do like usually turn out to be complete assholes. one insisted that we exchange e-mail addresses and then wrote to me exactly one time. a second is a family friend (so hard to avoid) who puts his hand on my leg under the blanket and starts spooning me when we've had to share a bed and then the next day pretends not to know me (or my name!! one morning he said goodbye and called me by my mothers name)
could you *find* a bigger jerk?! i think not.
and yet i can strangely relate to buffy's situation in season 4 after she slept with parker.
"He's manipulative and shallow. And why doesn't he want me?"

yeah so, that's my depressing love life haha

C
CrayonBreakyMe
I'm sorry. =[ Things like that happen, it even happened to Buffy!!! You'll find someone NOT asshole-y one day =] They exist =]
Aww, everyone has such cute stories! I love that some of you has met people on BB!

Here's my story:

To be honest, when I met the love of my life I was allready together with someone else, so I REALLY wasn't looking for someone at that point. It was my first day studying at the university, I was really young, had just finished high school and was dead nervous. I was sitting in this big assembly hall, looking out at all those people and suddenly someone walked in to the room. And I know this is going to sound cheesy, and I didn't really believe in that sort of stuff before this happened, but I just looked at the one who had walked in and thought "Wow. That's it. That's HIM". And that was surprising to me in so many ways, 'cause 1 - I didn't believe at "love" at first sight, 2 - I always imagined my HIM to be a HER and 3 - he looked nothing like I imagined anyone I would fall right away for would. And still, there he was, and he was blond, really thin with a striped shirt and star wars pins on his bag and still I couldn't help myself. He sat down in front of me and I didn't talk to him all day.

After that we ended up taking a course together. I didn't talk to him for several weeks, I just watched him say smart things in class, stalked him on the internet and smiled at him whenever he wore a band tshirt with a band I liked. At this time I totally denied that I had a crush on him even though I knew that I had deep down. I don't why really. Maybe because really liked the person I was together with, we were great friends, and I didn't want to end it just because I thought that some random boy was cute. But whenever he would talk to anyone extra friendly I got upset and called my friends and they asked me "Mikaela, do you have a crush on him?" and I said "NO! Of course not! I just think about him all the time!" and sometimes actually believed myself.

And then one day he walked up to me when I was standing in the library and started talking to me. By the end of the conversation he asked me if I wanted to go to a concert with him and some friends, and I said sure and then I planned my outfit and what I was going to say and what CD's I would ask if he wanted to borrow from me for like a week.

And then there was the day of the concert, and the concert sucked. And I was a little drunk and he was a little drunk and he looked really bored and I noticed him looking bored so I just walked up to him when he was talking to someone from our course and said "do you want to go somewhere else?" and he smiled at me and we left. We ended up sitting in a bar where there was just me, him and 3 old alcoholists and toto was playing on repeat and still had the best time. When the bar closed we were both hungry and I lived near by so I asked him if he wanted to go back to my place to eat. He did. The way there was magical. It was snowing and all the city lights were on and he had lost his mittens, so we crammed both of our hands together in mine and walk the whole way facing each other and laughing. Then we came back to mine, we ate, and then he tried to kiss me. And I pushed him away and said "no, I'm seeing someone" and he said "I know. I'm sorry." and he left. And I just sat on my couch and thought about what a horrible girlfriend I was for how much I had wanted to kiss him back. And then I got a text that said "I lied. I'm not sorry. I really like you. I'm doing piruettes and smiling right now. I never thought I would meet someone like you". And that was it.

The next day I broke it off with that other person and then I walked up to him in class and said "I'm not seeing someone anymore". And he kissed me. And in september 2007 we got married.

That's amazing and so cute!!! Congradulations!
My parents were the only friends present at my Fiance's Parents wedding. My dad was her Dad's Best Man and my Mom was her Mom's Maid of honor. That was back in the 50's and her and I have been friends since she was old enough to walk.
We've now been "together" for going on five years and engaged for less than a year. Her name is Megan and she's the love of my life!

Here we are together at PDX Zombie Prom a year ago:
