Let's say that BtVS and AtS were renewed for one or possibly two more seasons. What would you change about the existing endings of each show, and how would you continue with the next season or two? (Also, for the sake of this thread, disregard anythign that happens in the continuation comics)

I don't know what I would do with BtVS, but I would keep the ending of Angel the same (except Wesley wouldn't die), and the next season would pick up right where it was left off (except Wesley was in the alley with them). Gunn would be sired like he was in the comic, and he would flee to Cleveland (which is a hellmouth) and start gathering forces. Faith would then join team Angel, and the team would at this point consist of: Angel, Spike, Wesley, Illyria, and Faith. They would follow after Gunn and travel to Cleveland, where the bulk of the season would take place (Gunn being the big bad). But once the five of them arrive in Cleveland, they realize that the Hellmotuh there is mor epowerful than the one in Sunnydale, and its mystical energy starts bringing out the dark side in all five of them, ( Remember, at some point in the series, Angel, Spike, Wes, Faith, and Illyria have all been evil). My ending for this season would be Angel reopening Angel Investigations, Spiek and Buffy getting back together, Gunn regaining his soul, and Wes, Faith, and Illyria finding peace while all being members of the newly reopened Angel Investigations.

Wesley was never evil. Just saying.
I think the verse have been continued by Joss already. Like or dislike the comics - he is the guy whose vision created the verse in the first place. So here we are, with AI dispersed, Gunn being vamped and recovered, Wesley dead, Angel going Twilight, Faith being Giles' only heir, Buffy and Spike settling their hash by not getting together, Cleveland remaining a minor point of annoyance, and magic being gone from the world. Live with it.

This thread is about what you want to see, not bitching about what happened. The OP explicitly said 'disregard anything that happens in the continuation comics'.
In an alternate world, I wouldn't want to see Buffy continue, I hated season 7 and it really made me feel like the show was over. If Angel got a season 6 I would like to see the show focus on the aftermath of the Apocalypse, the rebuilding of LA and possibly bring Seth Green and Alexa Davalos to the show and keep Mercedes McNab as a main character. For season 7 I would like to see things go back to the way they were in season 1, on a much smaller scale and back to the Fang Gang helping the helpless. But finally show us the Senior Partners and Wolfram and Hart. And a couple special appearances by Charisma Carpenter and Alexis Denisof wouldn't hurt either 😀

This has made me incredibly sad lol

I wished season sevenx of Angel would include the big figth of course, and maybe they couldshow much more of Wolfram and Hart. I mean in a filmed season 7. Just for those who wonder now...I didn't read the comic season of Angel till now. *shame*

I don't know how to pick up with Buffy. I think season 8 comic version didn't really fit. I was so sad when Sunnydale was destroyed because it was a importan place for me in the show! So I would let Willow find a spell to restore Sunnydale and then they could fight monsters back in town! 😉

I would renew them both for just one season, but as one big crosover show. That way you have the gates of Hell opened on LA with the gribbly monsters running amok and an army of newly activated slayers ready to do battle with them.

Lord of the Rings style mass battles anyone? 🙂

I like it!
Spike would not have burned up in the hellmouth. Sunnydale would have still been destroyed, after which Buffy, Spike, Faith, and Willow would have set up a Slayers' training academy similar to the X Men facility. There would have been a big crossover and battle royal beginning with a 2 hour special on "Buffy" and crossing over to "Angel" for the 2 hour conclusion. In the end, in order to save the world, Angel would sacrifice himself, being transformed into a 4 armed monkey and cursed to guard the Watchers' Archives until Fray's time, when he he will be known as "Butt Monkey," and will serve as her sidekick and main comedy relief on the new "Fray The Vampire Slayer" series.

I was right with you until the butt monkey business :)

it's perfect :D
Andrew Wells replacing Drogyn as the gatekeeper of The Deeper Well, telling his own version of stories about the dormant demons/gods, one getting out which will bring all the characters together to save the world again (B side plot Harmony trying to sire Antonio Banderas, Melanie and the kids)

What about Xander, Giles and Dawn?

Giles would have gone back to England to run the new Watchers' Counsel. Xander & Dawn would go with him.
If we'd never gotten the comics and we'd gotten more TV seasons of each show, I would have liked to have seen:

BTVS
Buffy, Xander, Dawn, and Willow would move to Cleveland to battle the forces on the Hellmouth there. They would continue their work with contacting the Potentials and forming the Slayer Army. They would grow apart a little in Season 8, but eventually return to their closeknit roots in the wake of Kennedy's death, which brings the Scoobies together for Willow's sake. Giles and Faith would get a spin-off in which they go to Boston together and fight the forces of evil.

Angel
The AI team would go back to their roots and reclaim the hotel as their office, having survived the battle in "Not Fade Away" with help from Cordelia, Doyle, and Wesley helping from the other side. Oz would show up to join Angel's team, as would Gwen Raiden, and they would continue fighting the villains in LA, as well as The Circle of the Black Thorn.

Make a series of animated movies taking place after Not Fade Away, with the cast voicing their characters.

very cool idea!
Make a series of animated movies taking place after Not Fade Away, with the cast voicing their characters.

Or an Animatrix-style series of short stories done by different Buffyverse writers and a bunch of different animation studios. That I would looove to see

YES Animatrix love.

I like this idea.

For BtVS I would not have had the potentials get turned into slayers at all. I would have had them all been given a choice if they wanted to come work with Buffy and the gang in Cleveland with all of them except Kennedy choosing to go home. Gradually over the course of the following season some of them (preferably Vi and Amanda) would come back to the scoobies to help the fight and become season regulars.

I would have liked to have seen the fallout from Sunnydale being destroyed. News coverage, bizarre conspiracy theories, and demons and vampires fearing it. Are Willow and Xanders parents still alive?

Oh and the big thing that I would change? I would have Spike and Angel form a close bond and both get over Buffy. I don't think I could have handled another season of Spuffy and Bangel bullcrap but I definitely could have handled some Spangel action. I'm not talking hardcore sex, but some sort of romancing and tight bond (not age) would have been great.

I like your ideas too! I always felt weird about the fact that no one seemed to give a rats ass about their families after SunnyD went down.
For Buffy I wouldn't want 2 more seasons because I was satisfied with 7 seasons, but I would definitely fix the flaws of seasons 6 & 7 so they'd be much stronger & give a better series finale.

With Angel I feel that the show deserved at least 1 more season. I'd change a few of the events/plot lines that took place in season 3 & 4 so they are more organized than they were. For seasons 5 & 6 AI would still go to Wolfram & Hart but I'd have the story pick up sooner than it did. Finally I'd give it an ending that had the same meaning as Not Fade Away but more conclusive.
