Ok, this is my absolute favorite episode of season 3, and I've watched it a billion times. Well, as always you begin to notice little impurites in an episode, and I noticed two. One, not so big..When Faith framed Buffy for the murder of Alan Finch, and buffy was asked to go into Giles's office, you can see teh calender directly behind Giles, and it says April, 1997. Thats almost like two years behind lol.

Then the next one I noticed, and possibly the BIGGEST one, is the dock scene. When Buffy is under the crates, and it cuts to shots of faith, you can actually see SMG's stunt double Sophia sitting beside the crates off to the right, and at one point, shes even watching the fight. Then I noticed that all of the fighting scenes for Buffy, you could totally tell they were two different people. And also when it cuts to a scene of faith it totally looks like a stunt double, maybe even with a wig on!!

I just thought that was so odd, to have that many mistakes in one whole scene, and no one catch that.

lol that's so funny
hmm. I'm gonna take a look at that. It's great if you see someone from the crew in a scene where they actually shouldn't be 🙂
That's like the one in "Into the woods" where you can see a boom mike operator in the background

did you watch this is the 'wide-screen' version, or regular? 'cause i remember reading something once with Joss, about converting all of the older seasons into wide-screen, but becasue of the way it was shot originally, a lot of the crew who were standing off to the sides, ended up in the shot. there's an ep of Angel was well, can't remember which season, but you can see someone standing behind the counter in the lobby of the Hyperion because of this.

also, the calender thing, i think, is a running jke. 'cause Giles NEVER seemed to have a calender that matched the year or month, lol.

Thanks for clearing that up
Aha, I get it now. Thanks Lyri. I've read about that particular, suggested filiming screw-up before in the "goofs" section of Buffy episode information sites. I've looked for the goof, and I've never been able to pick it out. I use tapes though. It's not in those that I can see. Now that you tell me about the wide screen thing, I can stop driving myself crazy looking for it.

It's not an extra person goof though. Apparently it has more to do with the way the thing is cut. Buffy is supposed to be buried under a bunch of crates. Remember she's wearing that ugly spotted coat in that scene? They cut away from Buffy and go to Faith fighting. Buffy is in the background. From the way I've heard it described Buffy is supposed to be trapped under the crates in the background, but instead she's sitting on them for an instant.

As far as how obvious it is that it's Sophia Crawford rather than SMG I wouldn't know, because as I said, I've never been able to spot the flash of Buffy sitting on the crates. My tape is kind of worn and faded though. Maybe she's sitting there, but I can't make her out.

its a full screen version, im just watching the dvds of it though, and the person is def. Sophia cuz shes wearing a totally different outfit than SMG is, it kinda looks like shes wearing overalls.

I think I might see what Darling Faithy was talking about. I'm not sure. I see Buffy (or her double) kinda sitting on the ground amongst the crates, when in the previous cut she had been laying down and struggling. It's like she sorta sat up with her legs still pinned beneath the crates, which may just be a case of poor editing because that's the position she ends up in as she's getting out from under the crates a few moments later.

I was trying to take a screen cap of it, but for some reason I can't do that anymore. My DVD program doesn't have a screen cap button like my old one does, so I have to do a Print Scrn and paste it into my image program. That used to work just fine, but for some reason, instead of pasting a still picture, it shows the continuing action on the DVD screen window behind the image program window. 🙁

hmm..well I was wrong, the double or SMG is in the same clothes, so im not quite sure now..but it could be poor editing..most indefintily.

Ha...this is totally off topic, but I'm looking for it on video sites, and I just came across this...(which is short and cute)

Buffy Bloopers

LOL, I know! I just found those the other day myself! :-) Always good to find "new" stuff.
Well, I never really notice goofs like that, but I find it ridiculous how often you can so easily tell during action scenes that it's stunt doubles. Sorta takes you out of the moment.

Not to mention how often vampires get dusted when they shouldn't, either because the weapon wouldn't have reached their heart or they're hit SEVERAL inches AWAY from the heart. Those things always really bug me.

On the other hand though, weren't those early fight scenes great. That one stunt woman could really move. She was special.

Did you ever hear that gossipy rumor about how SMG had her fired, because she contradicted her when she said SMG didn't do all her own stunts. I mean there's no way of knowing how much if any truth there is to that, but it is one you used to hear, and as such is part of the history.

there's an ep of Angel was well, can't remember which season...

I think it would have to be Season 1, wouldn't it? I'm pretty sure from Season 2 on they were filming in widescreen (although they didn't start airing it as such until Season 3).

Then I noticed that all of the fighting scenes for Buffy, you could totally tell they were two different people. And also when it cuts to a scene of faith it totally looks like a stunt double, maybe even with a wig on!!

I've found in my various watchings of early episodes - especially Season 2 - that that happened pretty often in the early seasons (say, 1 - 3).

For a prime example, watch the Buffy/Angelus swordfight from Becoming, Part 2. It's painfully obvious in the wide shots.

haha same thing in "this year's girl" .. as buffy, willow, and xander are walking thru the woods and it pans out to the demon cut open and hanging from the tree, there's a guy holding a mike to the right (who quickly moves out of frame hahaha) and you can clearly see will and xander's flashlight beams to the left, ruling them out as the strange body.
