Lol i finished the Hunger Games foreverrrrr ago but have yet to get into Catching Fire...its been sitting on my bookshelf for months and months hopefully I can takle both that and Mockingjay in the next few months after school lets out 😀

The shaky camera kind of gave me a headache the first time I saw it, but the second time it wasn't so bad since I already knew what was going on.

So I just read "The Hunger Games" the other night. All at once. I started it and didn't stop reading until I was done. It was crazy.
That said, I really liked it and I'm really excited to see the movie, since you guys have mostly given it lots of praise. Yay!

I ended up seeing this at 12 at night on the night it came out, I had just seen 21 jump street and this was starting right after with a few tickets left so we went to see it.
Hadn't read the books, but loved the movie, thought it brilliant, had to read the first and second book, I'm halfway through the third book now!

Went to see the movie last night. I did really like it. Went with some friends who literally had no idea what it was about. They liked it, too. 🙂
I did like the book a lot better, but that's always the case. I think they did a great job casting it.
Although, I have a problem disliking Donald Sutherland for some reason. I hate his character, but somehow, through that, I'm like . . .but . . .but . . .it's Donald Sutherland! I can't hate him. lol

I'm still not over them cutting out Madge Undersee aka the most wonderful person(beside Peeta and Prim) of the THG series. It means they'll probably have to cut some amazing parts in Catching Fire that revolves around her and her family too. 🙁

I like her in the books but I can see why she wasn't neccessary for the movie. Gale is Katniss's tether back to District 12, and any themes put across with the Mayor and Madge can surely be translated to other characters.
I didn't have a problem with the shakycam at any point, it showed Katniss's perspective and was a quick way of getting a PG13 in what could have been gruesome horrific death scenes.

Madge may not have big part in the first book. But cutting her pretty much made the mockingjay pin has 100 times less meaning. Also, she could represent how rich people have to go to the Reaping too and that they can't escape Capitol's paws.

I've never got into the fandom. Not because I thought it would be bad, it just didn't happen. Watched the movie a week ago. I was afraid that with so many hyping it I'd be disappointed. I'm happy to say that I wasn't. I'm not calling it awesome either. It got me enough intrested to want to read the books and if they include some interesting extras I'll probably be buying the dvd. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

I don't think how Katniss got the pin took away its meaning. The pin represents the rebellion because it's a mockingjay, and the story behind what the mockingjay is. Madge doesn't really have anything to do with what the pin means. Sure, it showed how Madge was against the Capitol as well, but is that really important? I can see why they took out her character, and I think it's totally barbaric how people say that Madge's absence ruined the whole movie... I mean come one, Madge was in like 4 chapters throughout the trilogy...
I agree, I always thought the reason the Mockingjay pin became so important was because Katniss wore it in the arena, and the fact that mockingjays were a sort of 'YOU SUCK' to the Capitol because they were mutated Jabberjays that the Capitol failed to control. The fact that Madge gave it to her was sweet but not 100% essential to the plot. I also think if they want to they could probably still work Madge into the sequels without distorting her story too much! Don't get me wrong, I would have loved to have seen her in it, but I don't feel removing Madge ruined anything. I get how some might feel that way but for me the meaning was more in the Jabberjays and the fact that it was what Katniss wore than in who gave her it.

I just finished Catching Fire today. This new Kindle has made reading quite enjoyable and easy to do since I'm on the go a lot lately. Just bought Mockingjay. Right now my mind is just going "Whu-? What is this? What is that? What's going on? I can't!"

Yes, I'm kind of late to the party, but I saw the movie today and I loved it! I haven't read the books but I feel like that would have ruined it for me, so I may read them after I see the movies. I usually get bored when I try that though. Grr. Oh, and I'm in District 11. Eh.
Last week I read the first book and LOVED it, finished it quickly and while waiting for the second book went to see the movie. It was an allright adaption, already reviewed it so I wont reiterate what I've already said, suffice to say I was happy with some parts and very irritated at some. All in all it's a nice complement to the book.

So I know that I'm fashionably late to this party but I saw the movie a little while ago and just HAD TO buy the books, read all of them while going through a particularly tough days and it was just such a great escape. All three of them were finished within about 4 days.
I like that Katniss isn't a Mary-Sue, she has problems, she has issues, she has flaws. Despite all of this I found her extremely likeable and interesting and found that she was a great role model in terms of her strength and perseverance.
