Hunger Games

Do you think Katniss could have been happy with Finnick?
I'm all for team Peeta
But, maybe Katniss needed some fire, someone who would challenge, something more electrically charged. I think Finnick could give her that.
But, I don't think I really know what Katniss wants because so much of the story is about the games and her saving herself and her people that I don't get a good understanding of what she wants in her love life.

If we're to believe her own words, she didn't!

“That what I need to survive is not Gale's fire, kindled with rage and hatred. I have plenty of fire myself. What I need is the dandelion in the spring. The bright yellow that means rebirth instead of destruction. The promise that life can go on, no matter how bad our losses. That it can be good again. And only Peeta can give me that.”
Suzanne Collins, Mockingjay

I don't think Katniss knows what she wants until the games (and the rebellion) are over. She's hesitant through most of the books because she has other things to think about and it feels futile to think about that stuff when there's so much at stake.

I wish this part could have been incorporated into the movie. I love her and Peeta together. And I think he did bring her peace and joy. He showed her tenderness and compassion. He was a light in her very dark world. I just wanted to pose the question.

I loved how they portrayed Haymitch in the movie, but I was just thinking how hilarious it would be if they got James Marsters to play him...particularly the part where he explains how THE most important thing to surviving the hunger games is to be liked by the audience (and thus sponsors) if they don't want to be killed off, with a bit of Spike's accent coming out as he says, "Believe me, I know." 😀
