In ep. 5.1 buffy vs. dracula, dracula calls buffy a hunter. This is true but did any one find it really uncomfortable. She hunts for the greater good, and vamps hunt for survival. If her powers are rooted in evil, do you think that the first slayer started as a vampire type sub-human? i know she doesn't look like it in end of season 4. But who knows? the first slayer may have started eating people, or somthing? I guess my real question is this...

Why is her power rooted in darkness? ::fire::

About the power being rooted in darkness has always bothered me also. Are they saying that they had to get the power from evil, because they couldn't get it from good? Is this saying evil is stronger than good? Yes, the power now works for good, but still... In season seven episode 15 they tell you about the first slayer and her origions....

As I see it (maybe) is that the people who implanted the slayer with powers (or should I say raped her as it kinda was, anyway) used demon powers because they thought it was stronger or there were no good powers at that time to implant her with. I cant remember if they intended for the slayer to be good or evil, I think it was good.

I agree with AshSan, The first slayer was human, who was given powers to become the legendary slayer, The old men used powers from a demon to give her all of her powers thus Buffys powers being rooted in evil. And the slayer was intended to be used for good to get rid of the evil.

Even thought there's the line about being rooted in evil, there's still the theory that all power is related and comes from the same place... That it is up to any individual weather the power is used for the purposed of "good" or "evil", which by the way leave little room for interpretation.
