Hunting vs Slaying

If you were going to be a demon hunter, rogue or otherwise, would you prefer to use the Slayers' methods (antique weapons, stakes, etc) or the more modern methods and weapons favored by the Winchester brothers and their colleagues on "Supernatural?"

As for me, if a 12 gauge sawed off or a .45 automatic will get the job done, why bother with stakes and crossbows?
 
I'd use whatever works. It doesn't make physical sense for a shotgun slug to the head not to kill a vampire, but if it doesn't, it will at least slow the vampire down so I can stake it. And I'd rather shoot rock salt at something than try to throw it. But if I came up against something that could only be killed with a silver stake rammed through its Achilles tendon, that's what I'd do.

I'd definitely go down the modern route, like the boys and Anita Blake. A High Powered Browning will apparently get the job done, and from a distance,so why bother with a stake that could probably get you killed in those close circumstances.

I'd choose a gun over a broad sword any day.
 
It's been awhile since I read Anita, but couldnt see kill vamps by shooting them? thought in circus of the damned she did?? am I mistaken?

In Anita's world, you gotta get rid of the head and the heart. A high gauge rifle shot to the head would take care of that, then a smaller caliber to the heart after it's done. Shape shifters are different, a silver bullet to a high risk body part and you're done. No muss, no fuss.
 
Like the assasin says in the film Leon, the knife/stake would be the last tool you learn to use, start off with the less risky stuff.

I am a bit of a gun fan so id use whatever worked and if it goes BOOM all the better!
 
I would definitly go down the modern route. If old fashioned staking would be neccesary, I would do it but I prefer rocket launchers.
 
I wouldn´t stand a chance in close combat. I´d be an ex demon hunter straight away. So if I have to be a demon hunter please hand me one of those guns.
