I'm with you on this one.

I like the big D but would very much prefer him to stay as a 'guest-star' if you will.

Dracula is the pinnacle of a vampire and seeing him every issue, next to the slayer would to me anyway undermine Buffy's title as 'The vampire slayer'.

It was ok with Buffy not killing Spike (chipped) as he couldn't do any direct physical harm to humans, although i'm not saying Spike isn't dangerous with the chip in is head, but he is very much on the bench.
 
I remember reading somewhere that the master was one of the original race of vampires. Now that makes him considerably older than Dracula. Plus 530 isn't all that old in the demon world, to quote Anya in Buffy vs. Dracula episode, "I was young, only 700." Not the exact quote I know, but you get the idea.

As for Dracula sticking around, that's something I'd rather not see. I loved his original appearance in season five, but this Dracula was way out of character. Since when does Dracula care about the happenings in the world? Yes they took his power, but still, I can't see him sacrificing his own power to take it away from them. He seems to care too much, which came off as out of character.

Whatever else can be said about Dracula, he spent his human years in a society where enemies are shown no mercy whatsoever, and any transgression is answered with the most terrible vengeance imaginable. Likewise, friends and those under your protection were protected up to and beyond the giving of your life in their defense. Those are the codes that he lived by.

He called Xander "Manservant," which, to him, made Xander part of his household and under his protection. When he was endangered, when someone he cared for was injured or threatened, Dracula's reaction was instantaneous, relentless, and total. If losing his unique powers was necessary to exact his vengeance, then he would lose them without hesitation.

Besides which, no doubt if he knew the source of those powers, he could easily reinstate them on himself at any time.
 
That makes sense, I should've looked at it from that perspectice. Though I've always wondered how much of your character carries over once you become a vampire.

In the Buffyverse, your memories and to a certain extent your personality remains pretty much the same. By that, I mean a bigot as a human would remain a bigot as a vampire. A very aggressive person would be a very aggressive vampire. Someone like Harmony was a ditz as a human, and she's a ditz as a vampire. The major difference is that with no soul, there are no inhibitions about doing either right or wrong. It's Faith's classic "want, take, have," with no regrets whatsoever afterwards. With not even the minimum of restraints human Vlad Tepes had, non human Count Dracula, with no soul and therefore no conscience, would be the very embodiment of ruthlessness.
 
i like dracula in season 8, however i hope he shows up just for cameos. i think if they over play him too much he might become stail..... or a joke
