I Am Legend

Yeah, that's another one of those great books that Hollywood has already messed up twice, maybe they'll get it right this time (Incidentally, did you know that the Charlton Heston movie that Angel took Fred to see at the beginning of Season 3 (I think) was "The Omega Man," a movie based on the original book "I Am Legend." Also, the book was about the last human on earth after everyone else is turned into...vampires.

lol no i didn't know that ^_^
Apparently, I Am Legend was a huge influence on George Romero before he made Night of the Living Dead. Makes sense when you read the book.

The Vincent Price version of this story is probably the most faithful, but it's like half a step up from being an Ed Wood production in terms of production values, pacing...

I love the short story - the movie looks really good, but I'm very skeptical about it. Cause you can already tell they changed it a lot from the book...

I'm excited only because we haven't had a good sci-fi movie all year. Plus, Will Smith tends to be good with sci-fi movies (see Independence Day and Men in Black).

Will smith seems to be good in everything lol. The story looks amazing!! I can't wait til it actually come out, i think i heard about it last year or something lol ^.^

I'm excited to see what the vampires are like. In one of my film classes, someone was talking about it yesterday and they started arguing over whether it was vampires or zombies. So if they couldn't tell, I'm hoping that means the vampires are a bit creative. =D

i read the book and i thought it was kind of lame. maybe it was good back in the day, but im pretty desensitized now.

anyway, im not excited about the movie because i know they will change it from the book.

You found the book lame and you're not excited by the movie even though you expect it to be different?

Actually, I'm still waiting to be truly disappointed by Will Smith so I'm looking forward to this.

Also, technically its neither Vampire or Zombie, its a race brought about by a man-made virus.

...a man-made virus that turns people in the dead that drink blood and can't be out in the sunlight. They're terrified of religious symbols and don't like garlic. If those aren't vampires, define "vampire" for me...

honestly, the next movie adaptation of a book that i want to see is enders game and enders shadow. as far as i know, they are writing the script, but no actors or schedules yet.

sigh.

Ugh, that AICN review is depressing. Somehow doesn't really surprise me. Maybe he's just a bitter fanboy purist though, hard to say.

Re:

Gotta say I agree with ya there BOTD...I'm eagerly awaiting opening night myself. The previews look killer....*scratches head* But then again, I guess the previews always do...LOL:lmao:

The Omega Man Version...

I've seen both film versions and read the story. In the original story and the Vincent Price movie, the "monsters" were, indeed referred to as vampires. In the much better Charleston Version, the night creatures were indeed humans infected by some sort of germ warfare virus. From the looks of the previews, Will Smith's version seems closer to Heston's version. If so, I just hope that Mr Smith realizes that he is walking in the footsteps of a REAL legend...

One of the guys at work recommended this book to me and I found it pretty rushed. It set the scene well then it seemed to get bored with itself and decided it had enough and wanted to end.

Wasn't really impressed to be honest, but then again i'm getting harder to please these days.

Not true. I would just bet the entire farm that a copy of "Sex, lögner & videovåld" would put a great smile on your face. ;) :p
