I Am Legend

Well It will be a go see for me, only because I'll make people come see it with me for my Birthday lol ^_^ otherwise no one would want to actually pay to see ... anything :s lol
 
I saw the 12 AM premiere last night. It was AWESOME. My hubby says it's better than the book (which I haven't read yet). Will Smith pulled off an amazing performance. That's all I'll say (though I could go on) because I don't want to ruin it for anyone else.
 
I'm with Blondie. The movie was totally amazing. It really didn't follow the book at all, but it was still so good. I'm definitely getting it the day its on DVD.
 
I just saw it...and WOW. What a film. I loved it. I hated a certain part regarding Sam but I guess they had to do it.
 
I saw it about 2-3 weeks ago...pretty good movie, its defiantly "wow" material. The whole time I thought his kid was a boy 😛 And I thought Sam was a boy too until he said Samantha hehe. And I hated a certain scene with Sam...but I suppose it had to be done. "Don't worry..." 🙁

I also thought his son Marley and Sam were males. I was like...Marley's a girl?!!! lol.
 
haha I know what you mean. She looked looked like a little boy (no offence meant to the little girl who played her...thats Will Smith's real daughter, isn't it?). Her room had butterflies and stuff and I was just like "waah?!"

I think he initially injected her with the antidote he'd found at least sort of worked on the rats. Then, when that didn't work, he broke her neck. Now, I know it was understated, but the time he was holding her wasn't long enough to suffocate her, and if you watched closely, his shoulder and neck muscles flexed and there was a very faint "pop." If this is indeed the case, I'm very glad they made it as understated as they did, without a big CRACK. It was a very delicate moment, and the writer and director handled it very well.
 
I saw this movie a while back and I liked it OK, but I think it could have been done a lot better. I think the creatures would have been scarier had they been played by real people except during the high action scenes and they could have CGI'd those. Some parts of the movie were impressive, others were not, overall it was a good but not great movie experience.

And I know this doesn't relate to the movie itself but I hated the credits, that ugly font they used...I guess they were going for simple but I found it distractingly ugly. 🙂
 
lol I feel like the total outsider here but to me the movie was horrible. It was like an honest hour and something loss. Perhaps I'd have liked the book b/c before watching it I did like the idea you know two people ( well a dog but still ) alone in the world, etc etc. But it looked like the next sci-fi which reminded me a lot of Resident Evil. Which I don't particularly like. And the ending wasn't necessary you know ( let's not spoil ) to end like this way. It felt like it was forced for greater dramatism. Plus I didn't find the supporting cast believable enough.

Anyways 🙁 I was trully disappointed.

Why did I like it?

Two words: Will Smith. He MADE the movie go-no question there. Will did a damned good job of showing off the inner pain and anguish he no doubt went through of trying singlehandedly to cure humanity of the virus,even if he wasn't directly responsible. All this had to be taking a toll on him mentally,though he never really showed it.

Also,showing the normally hectic New York City as a jungle devoid of anything that wasn't human was kinda cool too.

I'll agree with others and say the zombies-or whatever the hell they were-could have been done better. If-as reports said-they could afford to spend $5 million or so on a sequence on one of the bridges(where Smith's character gets attacked by the zombies in his stocked SUV),then surely they could have done a better job of bringing the zombies to life. (Yes,they could. And don't call me Shirley. 😀 )

Actually I think the ending is very necessary, if you're talking about what happens to the character, and if so, I think it's happened in every version, and for good reason.

Yes :) IMO he could have thrown the bomb and got inside right in time. It wasn't necessary to stay there,the zombies were seconds away anyway and were in good perimeter of the bomb cluster.

Yea, to make me sad and upset that the greatest man ever on the planet in 'his world (the movie)' died! He basically, no he did save the human race and dies at the end all because the girl who lead them right to his house!!!! haha Okay, There was one thing I was curious about though, when Neville got cought in that trap ... did he set it and just forget about it.. i find that HIGHLY unlikey.. and if that is a whole then everything unravels because then Sam wouldn't have died, he wouldn't have 'tried to kill himself using the car to take out as many as possible' the girl would never have found him, led them to his house, exposed his work!! Got him killed! But if he did set the trap... how in the world can he forget, he's the only one there every day, he gave the manican a name... he knows it, How could he forget?

Anyways ^_^ I liked the movie but didn't like that he died, That's just me though if it were me happy endings would be everywhere for the main characters, and screw the world at large ^_^ but I can see why it's necessary to some people.

It wasn't necessary to stay and wait. I think it's the director here who screwed it up b/c he didn't show it believably enough ( at least for me ) to make that last move of the character. My thought was not "ooow he's sacrificing himself what a good man " as it should have been but "okay what he's doing?why he's doing that?". I understand the idea but it was lamely put.

I have a theory about that trap - the zombies were starting to act like animals which includes learning and setting traps too so I think they did it b/c they learned Smith's behavior and saw the purpose of the trap and saw how it worked. So that's why they decided to move it in front of that hole in the building so that they could watch from there and attack. That's why Will was so panicked I guess.

I liked New York too but what I found bewildering was that the animals were shown or let's say it was accentuated on them at the beginning, after that they completely neglected them from the movie even in the day scenes. How are we then supposed to perceive such an important detail as the surroundings if they just pop things and then forget about them? It looked fake. I expected to combine the existence of animals, human and zombies but they failed at that.
 
Robert had to sacrifice himself. He had nothing else to live for. He had the cure and it was with another whom he knew would live. Once he saw that butterfly he knew he had to go...to see his family again. (And possibly Sam. Lol.)

It was that last moment of self importance that he needed. To do something to be remembered by...he had to do it! IMO, anyway.

I still loved the movie and the ending was the best one for me. People will (and have) disagreed but yeah, this was an amazing movie.
