I absolutely love Buffy (the show). I've never watched a single episode of Angel until last week.

I wasn't feeling the love, and I was pretty bummed. Then mid-season, when Doyle died and Wesley appeared, I started to like it. I've watched a few more episodes and its getting good. BTW, I actually prefer Doyle to Wesley, so I'm not quite sure what they changed sidekicks.

It's interesting in that this is NOT BTVS. It is a completely different show. But I'm liking it. 🙂

For me the first few eps were not THAT awesome... But god, I loved the chemistry between Angel/Cordy/Doyle. It took me less than 4 episodes to love them together. 🙂 Also Cordelia is amazing in AtS!

Same here, but I stuck with it and ended up loving the show. Now when I go back and watch season 1 I love every minute of it.

And I too prefer Doyle more that Wesley 😉

Keep going!!! 😀 AtS is amazing! I like Wesley a bit more than Doyle only because we see him develop more on the show.

I loved it from the start I did think it took longer to get its speed but I liked the dynamic of Cordy/Doyle/Angel like Zalos said. I enjoyed Wesley though he became one of my favorites.

Same here. There are a few episodes in the first season of Angel in the beginning that make me eep with joy because something happens or a certain character shows(Faith/Darla😀) But the rest of the episodes are a drag to watch for me...for me it gets better during mid season.

With Buffy not so much even though the first seasons are like cheesy with bad quality and all but still good stories and characters...even though some episodes are whatever. Mid season it got even more intresting.

I think that people that have watched BtVS first find it harder to "get into" Angel, from what I've seen around here, and that's to be expected, because you kinda have expectations of what it's gonna be like and then it's nothing like that.

I watched Angel first, but saw "Life of the Party" and Season Five before seeing anything else, but I didn't find it hard to get into.

I completely disagree with the first part. I think that Angel was easier to get into had I seen BTVS first. Wesley, Cordy and Angel all had more of a reason to be watching BTVS first. Darla, Faith, Buffy, Oz's appearances all make more sense aswell.

That must've been weird BDH, to have come into it seeing Angel as CEO of Hell Inc.

As far as Goby's POV, I don't know. I mean, 3rd episode in, we get Spike with that awesome Spike-as-Angel monologue.

I love Wesley, but I miss Doyle. What I really miss is seeing what would've happened with Doyle & Cordy (I like them better than Cangel- don't shoot me!).

I just finished my rewatch, and it's interesting how I instantly wanted to watch ATS again, but not BTVS. But that's probably just because I've seen Buffy so many times.

It wasn't really wierd, because I hadn't seen any Buffy and it was the first episode I watched and so that's all I knew, y'know? 🙂

I hope you keep watching Angel until the end of the last season! 😀

I'm getting into it more in season two with the whole
Angel singing Mandy thing. I DIED laughing!

Any first season of a show is rough. Buffy wasn't my favorite show with the first season either. The second season is much more entertaining, and I really think DB had a LOT of fun in his role.

It disappoints me that Cordy cuts her hair. I love long hair on women.

I love long hair :)

You can see it in the pictures for the other seasons. And people ruined the fact that
Spike comes back to life. What's with dead vamps coming back to life on Angel?
for me. I apologize. 🙂

I loved Angel (the show) from the first time I started watching it. I started from the very beginning and I was hooked. I actually watch Angel before Buffy. I only decided to watch Buffy cause I wanted to see Angel and Cordy's characters on the show.

I do love Buffy but I love Angel more. Its an amazing show with a completely different aspect.

I remember the time I decided to watch Angel (which I had seen in a very sporadic way, one episode there, another there...). I was immediately in it. Then Doyle died. Even tough I love Wesley and Cordy, after Doyle's death, my desire to see the rest just decreased. I was maybe too upset, I don't know.

Then I arrived here and I read all the characters development there would be and I thought "Oh, I have to see it!".
Then I got in, loved it, and watched the whole serie!
It's kind of great while given the chance.

At first I wasn't really thrilled as I always found Angel lame, and I was thinking "Angel is like Buffy, only...with Angel as a main character. Ugh."
I really was into it from Five by five!

I watched all of Angel, and I liked it because it was the Buffyverse, so it was cool to see cross-overs and more of Angel's background. And I absolutely love Cordelia's growth in Angel, but didn't care for the "high power" bit.

I'm not a huge fan of Angel the way I am for Buffy but I loved how self referential it was: like in season 5 when Cordelia and Angel watch the tape of the commercial from season 1. Buffy wasn't as good at that (Jesse and Xander are best friends but they never speak of him again after The Harvest, what?).

Yeah, I do have issues about how we never, ever talk about Jesse again, not even a mention to him or just something.

I just watched one of the all-time great Whedon 'mini-moments' (up there with Victor impersonating Topher on Dollhouse).....

Angel dancing in his "mind"... then saying "I don't dance". (The episode "She")

Having just watched Dollhouse, I adore BOTH of those references! :)
We just started Angel and watched the third ep last night. It was fun to see both Spike and Oz. I showed my husband the clip from BtVS where Buffy decides to give the ring of Amara to Angel before we watched the show so he would know the background. Anyway the show is all right but it hasn't hooked me like BtVS yet. I think it will though.
