Might as well be the only one. I liked the looks. That's as far as it goes for me. I REALLY wanted Buffy to kick her ass. I know you all here are mostly Buffy-haters and Willow-lovers, so probably most won't agree, but she was really bitchy. All characters had tough lives, but only boo-hoo Willow has to destroy the world because her lover died. Most of them had to deal with that kind of pain and everyone was rash, but no one went that far. Don't get me wrong, I love Willow, she's a lot like me actually (even the bad features, I react to problems in an effusive way too, so in a way I'm bashing myself 😀 ), but don't get the hype over the evil version of her. I'm glad she tortured and killed Warren, I was beyond pissed about Tara's death, but her act towards her friends... It made me sad, not pleased! Anyone here that agrees? Or am I really alone in this?

O,RLY ? I say, this is a bit of generalization and not a great one. In fact, I completely disagree. This forum does not have many ( if at all) Buffy-haters. Unless critiquing any of Buffy choices qualifies you as one.
But as to answer your original question, I think majority of us here, and I in particular, were rooting for Buffy in that confrontation. Dark Willow is no favorite of mine, and I was very happy Giles took part in bringing her down and later in rehabilitating Willow.

Actually, Willow wanted to destroy the world because she could feel everyone's pain. At that point, it had nothing to do with Tara. What she did to Warren was because of Tara, beyond that it was a whole other beast, merely influenced by Willow's own pain.
It made me sad too, but I also loved the storyline. Willow's pain and feelings, I loved all of it, and I thought it was genius, especially since it was foreshadowed since very early seasons.
In the fight I wasn't rooting for Buffy or for Willow, I wouldn't want either of those character killing the other.

Haha don't worry, you're on the same page as me. Willow got increasingly annoying after S3 (prior to that I loved her), and it culminates (though hardly ends) at the climax of S6. I was rooting for Buffy 100 percent. Things get beyond Willow's control, but she everything that ultimately happened resulted from choices she made. It's not the world's fault that she couldn't handle Tara's death. Buffy, Angel, Spike, Xander, Wesley and so many more all go through similar circumstances, and none react that way.

I don't have a problem with dark/evil Willow personally. We all react to stress and trauma differently. The culmination of s6 with dark Willow provided some interesting drama. That's all I really care about (interesting and insightful drama) whether I like a character is oftentimes not very relevant. I'll still have my personal opinion about characters afterwards, but still.
I'm not justifying dark/evil Willow's actions either, but if her reaction had been of a higher state of mind and ethic (like mine or others would have been) it more than likely would have been boring.

Totally agree. I began really disliking Willow by the end of Season 4, but by the time the end of Season 6 came and we met "Dark Willow", I was so over her I sort of wished Buffy would have to kill her.

Yeah, I was rooting for Buffy in that fight, have to say. I think there are plenty of Buffy-suporters on these boards who just like to critique/discuss her choices and personality, it doesn't mean they hate her.
On the one hand I see your point about Willow, flipping her lid after Tara died was terrible and she really went down a dark path, very quickly.
And I can't help but think about Willow's own (terrific) speech to Faith in S3 ('Well, boo hoo!'....Now your nobody'.'), Willow, for most of her life, has had it fairly easy, unlike some, and decides to effectivly commit suicide ('I'm not coming back') in an effort to kill two nobody losers who had nothing to do with Tara's death.
I did want Buffy to kick her self-righteous ass all over the magic shop- and if Buffy had been on top form- she would've. 🙂
But Dark Willow was fun, and AH really sells it- she's having fun too. And she's still very Willow-like in her actions/speech (which is why I'll never by the whole 'she's entirely innocent. it was the dark magics talking' line of thought. ) She's evil, but still Willow in the way she interacts with Giles and Buffy especially.

Everyone knows I hate Willow. But Dark Willow was at least semi interesting compared to all the other seasons (don't get me started on season 8). Totally agree on the "poor me Willow" garbage.

I absolutely love Dark Willow. For me, she's the highlight of season 6, even more so than OMWF. I actually really dislike Willow for most of the season, which is a shame as prior to 6 she's my favorite character on the show. The asinine "Willow's on drugs" plot didn't help either.
But full blown, black haired wicked witch Willow? She's hell on wheels, and I wish she was in more episodes than she was. AH did a fantastic acting job, and she was the adrenaline shot that season 6 desperately needed at that point. And Xander's speech to her is one of my favorite moments in the entire series.
But I HATE the aftermath of the plot in season 7. They woobified Willow way too much, and let her off way too easy. This is a problem with the BtVS cast in general in the later seasons, but Willow comes close to taking the cake. I feel really cheated that we didn't get a more interesting redemption arc for her, and if I actually gave a crap about the comics, I'd be annoyed that we're not getting one there either. Such a waste🙁

I actually thought of an alternate ending to Grave and ideas for season 7 in a blog post I made oh so long a go:
Xander does his speech, Willow breaks down in his arms, the magic leaves her system and the stress on her body takes its toll. Xander holds his best friend in his arms. De-magiced Willow smiles at Xander, a tear trickling down her cheek and simply says “Thank you”. Xander whispers “I love you” one last time before Willow closes her eyes. Xander weeps with his best friend in his arms.
Season 7 would have brought the group back together. First mourning the friend they lost and then learning to carry on without her. As a result, the final season would have been magic light after such a magic heavy season, focusing more on slayers fighting vampires. The First would ruffle everyone’s feathers by appearing as both Joyce and Willow, leading to a determined Scoobie gang fighting the ultimate evil, spurred on by the memories of the people they’ve lost. Slayer strength and slayer strength alone wins the final battle. The series ends with a montage of past characters, with Kristine Sutherland and Alyson Hannigan sharing a speech off screen over it that ends on the scene that the show actually ended on: Buffy’s face looking into the horizon and the last narration, a nod to Buffy’s previous speech: “Be brave, live…for me.” Buffy smiles. Credits.
Anyway, I wrote that ages a go, just a bit of self indulgent fan fic-ing really 😛 I don't know if I'd actually want to kill off Willow these days, but I wasn't fond of her season 7 self. But then she wouldn't be in Angel: Orpheus either, which would be sad. I dunno.

Well, I've got to say, Dark Willow is not really a likeable character. I think the three episodes were a necessary display of Willow's power. Nobody really knew how powerful she had become, and I think it was important to show that.
I'm rather torn about her actions. She killed Warren, which was very pleasing to watch, but at the same time gravely immoral. She kicked Buffy's ass, which again showed that she was more powerful than Buffy - physically at least - and it was quite satisfying to watch as well, especially if she's your favorite character.
I can definitely see why somebody would dislike her, but I think it was very interesting and took the show in a different direction. This time the Scoobies weren't fighting some century-old demon, they were fighting their friend and that made everything more complicated and created a huge moral dilemma.
However, the main reason I like Dark Willow is that we get to see her kick some ass. 😀

I liked Dark Willow and the whole story line however she should have stopped after she killed Warren (even though that was incredibly immoral.) The only real problem I have with Dark Willow is her power (not her character). In my perspective, her power is extremely overestimated and overrated. People I've discussed this with always come up with feats that she has never proven to have accomplished. Overall, I loved Dark Willow and her story line but had a problem with how everyone perceived her power.
